What makes a good ringtone? And is it too confusing to assign ringtones to different people? Wonder what ringtone I would be? Good the mind boggles :)

I use "something wicked this way comes" Barry Adamson (edit) and the factory music from the warner brothers cartons for all the business numberrs (called Powerhouse). You know when the chipmunks get lost in the factory look for nuts... err maybe you dont I know some people who put bird calls on the phone so that it's not intrusive (but they miss a lot of calls). I was in one shop with a guy who had the sound of a mosquito bzzzzz. Everyone stopped and started looking around for an insect... as long as people don't think it's a heavy duty vibrator... err... I'm going now

i actually gave mine back...after it was replaced twice under warranty...... damned things died...... 3 phones in 2 months isnt a happy experience...much disappointing........ my ringtones the theme to 'true blood'..... jace everetts 'bad things'.........message tone is the Doors 'The End'........ i often dont hear it, but it goes forever lol...

I have for everyone a different one like if my lady calls i have the pinacolada song ( Escape by Rupert Holmes ) and if my ex wife calls i have yoda telling me its someone from the dark side ;)

...having ear bustin' screaming orgasm. It's only linked to her name personally....for all the rest I use Mason Williams "Classical Gas"...much easier to explain at the office, less fun when it goes off in my pocket. | Meeka, send me a sound file....I'll sort you out.

There's a free ringtone app for iPhone called iringtone....you can get your favourite song and extract the best 30 seconds from it.

I remember, back in the seventies and early eighties, having to set the VHS to record programs for my dad as he could never get it. Now days, it's our kids who look after us. Our eldest daughter, Samantha, 22yrs, downloaded George Thouroughgood, Bad to the Bone as my ringtone and AC/DC, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap for my texts.

Remember the early ringtone that seems to always appear on phones? I have that one but instead of ending in a chirpy da da da, it ends by sounding like the phone is running out of battery and goes out of tune. It always makes people look.

Mundian To Bach Ke...had it as my last one and was simply hilarious when it went off on the morning peak hour train and people turned around to see that I am actually Asian, not curry :p current tone is now Beyonce's Run the World. There's a couple of ringtone creator apps in the App Store... And yes, different ringtones for different contacts is way too confusing, I end up not realising it's mine.

It went off in a cafe one day and started everyone laughing. Unfortunately I can't transfer it to my current phone or I would because it always raises a smile.
