Profile images and security

September 25 2013

One of my units this semester is Information Security and on having a bit of a look at the many profile images was very surprised at the number of members who have posted pictures with location data still embedded. Several prominent forum posters have the exact location of where the photo was taken. Simple to enter the latitude and longitude into google maps and find the address and even where about in the home that the photo was taken. This is just a warning. If you are using a GPS enabled phone and take photos to upload to RHP or any other site for your own safety make sure you turn you location services off on your phone before you take the photos. Also a few have even embedded there full name and addresses in the meta data attached to the photo.I will not name the profiles that have Geo Location Meta data but most have iphone5 and one has a HTC Incredible S but any GPS or location enabled phones, tablets, Laptops, and some cameras will embed location data in every image. For those that have PC's the data is easy to remove. For mac users you will have to look it up as you will need to download software to remove the meta data attached.Be warned that modern cameras store much more then just the photo.

My photo was taken 1. On my webcam and 2. From a photograph taken of me at the casino. Are these safe?

This thread is blowing in the wind, in a couple of days or so it will be a distant thought in the pages of topics. Your message may be touched on occasionally, though mostly archive. I do not understand why RHP could not have some type of way to stop the info being part with the pics when they asses them before allowing them into our galleries. Is this a difficult procedure, or time consuming. If I use the www. to find such sorts of things, I end up in some porn site, it is like the www. is thinking for me.Mado

So the question now is, how do we find out if our photos on RHP have our details embedded in them ?

Deleted the ones that I had on my phone and on here.Thank you Blind man for giving me the heads up.I have been caught once before by a guy who sent me pictures of my house, my real name my phone numbers home and mobile and then tried to add me to face book.I recently had some one contact me as ,for this reason.A couple who have a profile, and then someone they let see their PG took pictures off the computer screen.they then printed them out and sent them to the mother of the wife. I am well and truly of it at the moment. As you will see by my profile.I will stay for the forums and I had lots of fun showing my bits to guys and I did not mind them having a toss up there in the mines. But at the end of the day, feeding my vanity and meeting random people puts me further out into the far side and risk.As much as I love sex, and hot sexy men, I can live without it.Watch your back people, as a woman your not safe , I do not feel safe after this. LadyT soon to move house as well.

Quoting 'Jason_Leslie' So the question now is, how do we find out if our photos on RHP have our details embedded in them ? thanks to blindman I took them all down. Not doing any more new pictures at all. I think the same may happen if you send stuff to others on your iphone as well I would guess. Is it worth it, just for some bootie call? Nope

if there is a honest crim, (though some are better than others). 20 years ago in the PI game you had to be smarter than most, these days anybody with half a brain can track down any detail about anyone. It's not rocket science, even that's 70+ years old .

Quoting 'cwhereitgoes'if there is a honest crim, (though some are better than others). 20 years ago in the PI game you had to be smarter than most, these days anybody with half a brain can track down any detail about anyone. It's not rocket science, even that's 70+ years old . its at a persons finger tips. They can also take your identity, they can use your pictures in other places. they can make your private life a very public life to millions of people all over the world. That makes it so much easier for the ever increasing number of sexual predator's. Or even people that want to break into your house if not now then at latter time.   People do that over things like rea l eastate, they can see houses with pictures, what's in your house, and then go to home opens. I have told people to take down all personal things , to take away valuable items when selling a house.   things like internet flat mates, some people are stupid enough to put up pictures of them selves when advertising a flat mate. I know this as I know, from working in prisons how criminals think.   all the internet does , is increase their hunting ground and give them better weapons.   Its a whole world away from back in the day.   I have seen adds that go, two fifo guys looking to share house in blah blah, away at the moment but will interview future flat mate when back of shift   ones with single girl, with a picture of the girl. Wanting to share with one other person, and picture of house and phone number. When I advertised for people to share my house I interviewed them away from the house first. This was after I got caught a few times with some real nut jobs, Including a guy that dropped his pants, as was interviewing him for the room.   yep , I said, sorry your not my type, he goes yeah baby what is your type   me> the big fucking police man that's about to walk in the door, now fuckoff   and he pulled up his shorts and ran out the door
