Profile Plagiarism

December 29 2011

We just stumbled across a nice looking couple who lifted much of their profile text off ours. With changes but not too many. We spent a long time coming up with something unique which reflected who were are and where we're at and we guess it's flattering that someone liked it enough to use it themselves. We've messaged them explaining how much work went into those words and asked that they try to express themselves through their own words, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. But it got me thinking, there's plenty of advice out there telling newbies to copy so are we within our rights to ask someone not to do so? Is it common practice to simply use other people's wording? We so don't want to have to put more brain power into coming up with something unique and heartfelt all over again. I guess another concern for us now too, after a few run-ins with fakes, is that both couples will look like one if someone came across them together...

Yep..a common occurance ....over the years we've seen bits & pieces in other profiles that has been lifted straight from ours...it does piss us off, but not much you can do about it we suppose. It just shows that the people that do the stealing have no imagination of their own or are just hopeless at putting words together....so you have to wonder what other fibs they tell within their profile?

Similar thing happened to us. They'd taken paragraphs from our profile, and only changed one or two words here and there. We sent a message asking what was going on, they apologised and thanked us for the inspiration, then changed it. We ended up meeting them later on at a party and got on famously :) So, all in all it wasnt too bad.Copying is one thing. Taking inspiration is totaly different (and acceptable).Mr RC80 works in an artistic field, and is plagerised constantly. It's annoying, but what can you do?

I understand that alot of time and effort goes into creating a profile. Yes it is an ongoing piece of literiture, ever evolving and changing. It would be somewhat annoying to accidently stumble across someone who has pilfered all that hard work and claimed it as thier own. l Imitation is actually the sincerest form of flattery anyway so in the long term scheme of things..... l Does it really matter? So long as the profile works for you!!!

It is really annoying when you get a message or flirt and you check the profile to find that you have seen the same profile but iwth a different name and location.... i feel sorry for the creator of the original profile, as they have done such a good job that others rip them off...   congrats guys who come up with the profile, boo hiss to those that copy.. you must be unimaganitive

I've had it happen before, with a profile pic. I actually ended up exchanging some great emails with her. I figure the old saying about "imitation being the sincerest form of flattery" is true, and besides, I'll bet her lips aren't as sexy-looking as yours! ;-) Flirty x

:) Flirty you live up to your name... Using a photo though, IMO, is a whole different kettle of fish, not cool at all. There's a huge difference between having a case of writer's block and false advertising.

I have had both my profile copied and found my tit pics on other girls profiles. Pisses me off no end. I also agree about guys with the same pics taken from the Web...it is usually the 6 pack pic that almost a third of the guys have stolen from some site (would love to know which site...cause that guy has a hot hot body)! One consolation I get out of pics being stolen...For one, I feel sorry for the guys that meet the girls who steal my pics as the only guys I would hear from are guys that love tits (hence why they are my profile pic) and I don't meet anyone without seeing them on cam first and if they don't measure up to their profile pic then they miss out on sex with me! xFunlovingx

On a site very similar to this one 5 yeras back now, a friend in Perth contacted us and told us he was going to send a profile pic of a couple down in Perth that we would like to meet, so we agreed but was a little unsure (aas we dont like receiving pics of people with out thier permission) but the pics we got sent to us was of us, on the Geraldton nude beach back in 1997 that we had used on a Perth bisexual site back in 1998 to 99 which 5 years back they were 10 years old... So I tracked down the couple on the adult site and got chatting to them and I sent them some new pics of us at the beach taken in 2005 so they could update thier profile and told them: If they were going to use our pics as thiers to at least have the decency to update them as the pics were out of date and too old..... Well they stoped chatting and closed thier profile with in ten minites, never did find out who they were "LOL" we have had other things happen as well but thas the internet for you....... Got take the good with the bad and hope for more good... I think nily everyone has suffered with this type of carry on..

Coping the words of a profile does not worry us although it does take time to tell other what you are looking for and want... but after all they are only words... What we dont like is when people use other peoples pics that is low

and Miss T too. .I'm glad you were able to sort it out Paradisepair and rockercouple80, that is great that it worked out that way for you. .I agree, straight out copying, cutting and pasting or PLAGIARISM isn't the nice way of doing things. Sure it can be kind of flattering but really? Can't they think up their own way of describing themselves, at least word it differently so that it says the same things in a different way! .As you say RC80, inspiration is another thing altogether, even better if it's acknowledged. .I don't check out other guys profiles very often (though mine seems to be checked out more by guys than girls or couples)and I've only come across one or two where I've been surprised by the similarity to mine. Whether it was they were inspired by me (my ego would like to think so) or that we have a similar style of thinking/writing, I don't know?.Honestly, I'd be pissed off to find out that someone had used an essentially unchanged version of mine, I actually do spend a bit of time crafting mine. I'd be even more pissed off to find out they were doing better off of it than I was. .Anyways, a new year, maybe it's time for a new profile. If the new one reads similar or, God forbid, exactly like someone else's, let me know and I'll change it. ..CheersUniquelyRusty(Btw, I'd like to thank DGT and Bratz for the inspiration in changing mine)
