Profile Locations

June 26 2011

Need to vent here - why is it that people decide to put their location as somwhere they are nowhere near? Doing a couples search, I came across a couples profile that listed them as being from Sydney. A few messages were exchanged here on RHP and then we started chatting on MSN - and it was revealed they are actually from Coffs Harbour some 500km north of Sydney! They said they did travel to Sydney a bit, but then when I was asked how often I travelled to Coffs and told them very rarely, I was then on the receiving end of a rant. "why dont guys ever travel?!!? we always come to you" was the start of it, before being very promptly told to go a find somewhere closer to home to fuck. Why am I being painted as the bad guy here? I wasnt the one who liked about my location! If I knew you were 500km away I wouldnt have got in touch to start with! Sorry if I dont want to travel 500km for a few hours with a couple when I can find many who are actually from where they say they are! Anyone else had some issues with this?

We list out profile as in Sydney but live in Canberra but we go to Sydney every other weekend. We prefer to do our playing there as there is less chance of knowing people. I've already found 5 people from my work on this site :-( Agree though, we wouldn't list it as Sydney and expect people to travel to us, WTF?

Oh that sounds like rough treatment as they DID lead you to believe they were from Sydney!!! Now we live out of Sydney ( not too far) and in a place that although large is like a small town so we choose not to play locally, so we have Sydney on our profile as that is where we get up to mischief. We don't really want ransoms turning up at our home either so we'd prefer to meet there and if we hit it off then maybe a weekend out of Sydney can be fun for them too. You just have to have a giggle at people some times

I live in a rural community and do not need to be recognised by my community. I am generally upfront as soon as I start chatting to someone about where I am though. I did have Sydney there for a while and the results were amazing. I more than doubled my profile views. Gwabegar was chosen randomly in a bad mood one day and it stuck.

I think alot of people live in smaller communities where it would be so very easy to be recognised - should someone from that community join RHP. We have come across only one couple who lied about their location... It wasn't really that much of a problem for us - but like you, we're not prepared to travel an extra hour to meet them - when there are a plethora of other lovely couples within our travel radius. Quoting 'fionabee' I live in a rural community and do not need to be recognised by my community. I am generally upfront as soon as I start chatting to someone about where I am though. I did have Sydney there for a while and the results were amazing. I more than doubled my profile views. Gwabegar was chosen randomly in a bad mood one day and it stuck. we were same when we first joined.... listing the gold coast as our town..... being parents we were aware of the need for discretion, but the longer we were here, the more settled we became with others knowing of our 'past time'...having workmates, friends and even family who also have profiles here made it easy to relax....... but just the same we do understand the why of putting somewhere else down other than where you live....... its very revealing and not everyone around you is very accepting of sexuality and play.............

I haven't been to Coffs Harbour in a while... but last time I was there I had a very memorable time. the carnival was in town.. maybe that had something to do with it. *shrugs*Hugsstalky

I find profile locations to be most bizarre. Some locations are from places I have never even heard of even though when I look them up they maybe only a few Ks' away. Another oddity is that at lot of profiles are listed from a place and there are more profiles listed than the number of people in that small rural area. Hmmmmm Odd.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rant...people are all a bit different and as mentioned above, people do like to maintain a bit of personal space for any number of reasons. I am out in the 'burbs and it takes about an hour during the day to get in or out of the city. I still list my location as Melbourne. Now that said, you need to be very careful... | Quoting 'puppy'We don't really want ransoms turning up... | So it finally comes out, Mr Pup? You lure these poor innocents to a secret location in Sydney, have a few drinks then throw a gunny sack over them and drag them back to your secret lair and hold them for ransom? | You probably even torture them too, don't you Mr. P...shackle them to the wall in the basement then about every three hours the music starts thumping out MC Hammer "Can't Touch This" then Mrs. Pup goes bopping through the room dancing naked and just out of reach. That's just cruel, Mr. Pup and even worse... | ...if she is wearing nice shoes. | | Jumping up and down yelling "Ransom Me". No one will pay...the chain will eventually break.

One half of our naughty duo is located in Melbourne - i live some 5 - 7 hours (depending which way you go, how fast u drive etc) from melb.. But i am NOT looking for someone in my home town, and i live in a small town, very rurally.. im more than happy to answer questions when i get chatting, but i only play in Melbourne where im more anon.. so i dont see why i should have my profile different.. I do believe that some people put it far away - but 500km is a fair hike!

... but I think you missed a bullet!! They're obviously inconsiderate people so can't imagine a mutually satisfying experience with them in the bedroom!!! They'd probably treat you like a bit of meat.... . PUPPY - Freudian slip of "ransom"? hahahahaha . But as the others have said, smalltown mentality is alive and kicking and I did debate whether to list myself as Newcastle versus Nelson Bay. In the end, I decided to completely honest from the getgo because I do and have had visitors come up and play... . Fortunately for me, no-one down on the beach have come up and said "are you baygirl"? When that happens, perhaps I will change my location!!

Thanks for the responses folks! I can understand those who are out there in smaller regions who may not list their specific locations and list a different location for discretion, or those who live in areas that may not be well known and choose somewhere nearby that will be recognised - but a 500km difference? That is just a bit extreme. baygirl2315 - Nelson Bay and Newcastle are at least in the same region. The main thing that upset me in this case was the fact that I copped the abuse from this other member because I wasnt going to travel to Coffs Harbour to meet them. I respect the fact that they choose to travel to Sydney and Gold Coast every so often to meet others, so all I ask in return is some respect for the fact that I choose not to travel as far as Coffs Harbour to meet other people - hence why I do my search for profiles who are within the radius I am willing to travel in.

Since I live "above the shop" as it were and we have other business customers on the premises, I don't reveal my exact location. The last thing I need is some subbie turning up on the doorstep in nothing but a leather mask, collar and cock cage hoping I am available for a session.I do have to pick a closer location than Campbelltown though.

Lol you are on fire this week CM, oops with the typo - I actually wouldn't mind anyone dropping off any ransoms they may have laying around!Oh and thanks for giving me a great idea for when we meet this mysterious fellow we've had our eye on, I'm off to download some mCM Hammer right now!

I'll put in a call for you Mr. P as I have heard of a new home delivery service called "Rent-A-Random"...kind of like Pizza Hut, 30 mintues or it's free. | Now then it sounds like I need to start checking my travel bag (or survival kit) so let's see here...one gunny sack, one length of cheap low stress chain, one fake innocent victim look and an expensive carbide hack saw blade. Good to go... | Quoting 'puppy' Oh and thanks for giving me a great idea for when we meet this mysterious fellow we've had our eye on, I'm off to download some mCM Hammer right now! ...so let's get this show on the road. Please do tell Mrs. P that the nice shoes don't have to be stiletto heels when she starts bopping, I wouldn't want her to fall and break anything dancing...but then again, I should be able to cut through that chain in about 10 seconds so...please? It's not a fetish you know...just something I appreciate. Eat your heart out MC Hammer... | ...CM is in da dawg house. | | Might give a whole new meaning to hip hop and ditty bop too.

I have noticed the number of ladies listed as Brisbane City or something similar but they live all over Qld. Some say it because they are higher profile people in small communitites, how the hell do they ever hook up with anyone?
