Play friendly hotels/venues in Melbourne

Has anyone come across any hotels or other venues that are understanding/friendly to couples or groups who want a place to play? It can feel a bit awkward checking into a hotel only to check out a few hours later, specially a more classy place. Down market motels and 2 star hotels just don't do it for me or the kind of people I would like to play with. And, for that matter, has anyone enjoyed more creative play locations.... maybe an office after hours, a secluded spot by a stream, an empty building...? So please offer up your suggestions for places to play, whether they be classy but understanding hotels or other more creative locations. I am in Melbourne, so most interested in places there, but please don't let that hinder your suggestions for the rest of the country.
