Wear lots of layers of clothing, our weather really is as unpredictable as people give us crap for. Wear comfy shoes and if you get the chance, spend a day wandering around the city on foot- you'll see things that you'd otherwise miss if you were going by taxi or tram. The city is really easy to get around, the streets are laid out like a grid and if you have a very basic map (or phone GPS) you'll be fine.. If you do happen to go by tram, make sure you have lots of coins to buy a ticket on board with, you can't use notes and a lot of people get caught out! If you go by taxi, make sure you always put their registration number down in your phone before you start your journey and make it obvious so that the driver can tell you're doing it. Unfortunately the taxis in Melbourne leave a lot to be desired- so many times I've experienced the drivers have gotten lost, sped through red lights, been on the phone the entire time or tried to hit on me...You'll most likely be fine but better to be safe than sorry! . If you want to go shopping than Chapel St in South Yarra, Bridge Road in Richmond, Bourke St mall (including the new Myer and David Jones) and Chadstone shopping centre (a shuttle bus takes you there and back from the CBD) would be your 'must do' destinations. That being said, you'll find many hidden gems in the laneways around the city, sometimes its just a matter of getting lost and stumbling across them when you least expect it. .Other things to see and do? Depending on your interests and time frame, I'd grab a tram to St.Kilda for a few hours, check out the Melbourne Zoo, go up the Eureka tower for a good view, check out an AFL game to watch hot, muscly men in tight shorts run around dripping with sweat (if thats your sort of 'thing'), check out the casino and Southbank one evening, and try and sample as many different types of cuisine as you can while you're here- extra points if you can manage traditional Jamaican, Polish, Russian, Nepalese and Afghan food! Hope thats helped, message me if you have any questions that need answering :) . Tinks

I am sure your inbox and flirt box will be inundated with all the men that will promise to "show you around" ....although I am sure you would never get out of your room if that was the case! < Are you wanting to come here to just hook up or to actually take a look around? xFunlovingx

I'm actually coming down to see the Egypt thing at the museum!! But its a long way so thought I would stay a couple of days. Will be coming on train so need hotel near that but also near museum. Want to see what else is there and would be rude not to shop too!! Am bringing my daughter with me, so any 'social' activities will come second!!

It's pretty hard to beat doing me, it's why most people I know come to Melbourne... . As for sights, I always recommend the Melb Ghost Tour as a pretty cool way to explore the back alleyways of Melbourne. It also means you'll be sober when you hit the pubs afterwards, which means you're less likely to end up with something fugly growing next to you the next morning. I normally warn people about the weather, but as a Canberran you might as well bring something skimpy, it's bound to be warmer here.

We live in Eureka Tower at Southbank...if you would like a drink and to take in view we would be delighted to show you a little of Melbourne.

Hehe... I wanted to see that too until I found out it wasn't an exhibition about a Finnish rally driver.

Quoting 'flirty_bi_fem'Why I haven't seen any of these delights when I'm in Melbourne?? . Have you ever considered being a tour guide Tinks? You sound like a walking, kinda kinky version of the Lonely Planet! Flirty, you may find it strange, considering the usual activities you may travel to Melbourne for, but The Tinky Tour Of Melbourne requires all participants to remain (mostly) fully clothed and (mostly) in a vertical, upright position. Except, of course, when being threatened by a taxi driver incensed that his offer of 50 camels to your family in return for you hand in marriage was rejected. Then its okay to cower. I wish I was kidding! . Of course, I do have a nifty electronic electocution-y device that zaps wayward men into the next decade, and along with my tour guide skills, the device is also all yours if you ever feel the need to use it. For self-defence....or.....other, 'funner' purposes!

I wish I was kidding! What about the fine print?? I'll bet hidden there somewhere, is some kick arse fineprint *narrowed eyes* . This tour you speak of doesn't sound too bad I guess ... Clothing ... Upright ... Camels ... Hell, why not!? I'm all for trying new things once in a while, where do I sign up and how much body fluid do I need to trade by way of payment? Of course, I do have a nifty electronic electocution-y device that zaps wayward men into the next decade, and along with my tour guide skills, the device is also all yours if you ever feel the need to use it. For self-defence....or.....other, 'funner' purposes! Ohhhh there it is! OK, I'll take 1 x Tinky Tour Of Melbourne and 2 x Electronic Electrocution-y Devices please. Does that thing come with an instructor/instructions and a Bag of Mixed Lollies?

Rock of Ages is now playing - Gomez and I saw it a couple of weeks ago....plenty of loud 80's rock, girls in very skimpy costume, lots of laughs and a friendly chatty audience. Worth a look-see :)
