Perthies, check in and tell us you're ok....

March 22 2010

Massive storms just hit Perth with really no prior warning. A few friends have lost their rooves, entire back portions of their homes, car windows, etc etc.We came home from lunch today, and within 3 minutes it was spitting, then pouring, then massive hail stones. We only just made it home otherwise Im sure our car would have been trashed. Couple cars in the street outside have no windscreen or back windows. All of subiaco is under water, up to knee deep.Mounts Bay road is the same.Within an hour, and everything is totally calm again (but wreckage everywhere)How's everyone doing out there in RHP land?? Hope you all came through this unscathed.

Yes ok here. I have been home sick today so was in the house when it hit. Hailstones size of golf balls everywhere, and rain and wind like a cyclone for about 20 minutes or so but house seems like it's intact thank goodness. Glad to see you are home safe, let's see who else reports in. Shiny

OMG I was in Leederville on a training with work, we lost power, and the hail stones were as big as golf balls. The roads were kaos no traffic lights working the whole way home, some of the roads were like driving through a river. It was very nerve racking experience to say the least. All I wanted to do is get home to my boys.

Hey Rockers, Thanks for asking. Took me almost 2 hours to get home, and when i did, the power was out in the entire street. Still hasnt come on yet, but at least the candles make the place look cosy. Got one hour of battery life left on the laptop, then its complete radio silence from me. Might go out for a drive just to charge up my mobile! Mike

We were at a coffee shop with friends when it happened, i notice the storm clouds moving real strange almost like the beginning of a tornado before it touches down. There were three of us, myself, jimmy, spedo, sitting outside enjoying the views,i mentioned to Jimmy that this weather didnt feel right, he repied ''check out the rack on that'' so i turned to Spedo to see what he thought but he was to busy admiring this new Holden ute which was parked across the road. Then it hit! Jimmys beer was the first to go, followed by Spedo beer. they both then look at me and began to scream ''YOUR BEER!!'' but the warning came to late my glass began to tip the beer was no longer in the glass but had'nt hit the floor either, i didnt have much time so i needed to act fast. Thats when i heard Spedo's pain, for he had just notice huge hail smashing into his new ute, Jimmy was trying to hold him from running out into certain death, my beer was getting closer to the ground. Spedo free from Jimmy ran out to save his car....he was bearly at the road when the first one got him in the head, the next in the shoulder which spun him 360 he hit the ground confused cause he look at me and called he'' MUMMY'!'' Jimmy threw me a look it was just a glance but i knew what it meant, if he did'nt make it back all his shit was mine and i was to have sex with his girl..alot. He didn't reach Spedo he fell inches from his best mate. My beer hit the ground.

Work was a debacle... flooding in and out of the building, traffic a shambles.... but not anywhere near as bad as some places copped it. Came out unscathed as far as personal property goes and my sympathy for those who have endured damage around town. Just chalk it down to being one of those days...

I hope they get it up and going again soon, fitness folk will be devastated I'm sure! Hope the building next door hasn't taken too much damage and hopefully no one hasn't anything major to handle. Saying that, I've seen worse!!

No hail stones here, tho the patio flooded to a cpl inches deep in moments... thank God the main downpour only lasted a few minutes here before settling down some... The car? Well, the car is clean lol... thanks to Mr P's thought to drive it out from undercover after the worst of the weather had settled. Sure were some awesome moments for us there with the thunder and lightning going off at the same moment, directly overhead!PpWeR

Well, I'm laid up in hospital, have been since last week, so the closest I got was golfball sized hailstones hitting the window. My house is fine, haven't been able to check my bathroom, the only open window, but my car bore the brunt, once again I haven't seen it, but I have been told the roof is badly dented. Oh well, let's focus on my health first and worry about the car later....:( Michael

Not much damage here in the hills, thank god!!I had problems with a gutter being blocked and the water coming back inside, compared to some, VERY minor hassleBig thanks to the local Jims mowing ( Maida vale) for the extra prompt service in unblocking the gutter and trimming the tree for me. I hope everyone else got their problem sorted as easily as I.heres hoping RHP wont mind a little plug in this instance Once again something to be thankful forDevine
