76's not the only one bumping up threads lol and I've been enjoying it... sentimental soul that I am. If the threads have run their course, they will drift back down in the listings soon enough... It is so funny when people are talking to whoever started the thread and they haven't been on for over a month. I agree with "intrigued & curious", some of the threads you have bumped from over 12 months ago only had one or two replies, which tends to indicate they weren't that popular, funny or thought-provoking back then and hence probably won't be now either.I know you are trying to make your mark here, and you have certainly done that, but think before you revive an old thread: can anything new be added, is it worth reading again, are any of the previous posters still alive (lol).

Do what works for you, I'd rather see you bumping up old threads rather than some of the vitriol on many of the new threads lately... seems a lot of the regulars have an opinion on that excludes newbies more than ever lately...

It was mynameonurlips that bumped up one of Whitehawk's threads in the last couple of days, that scored another 7 posts or so before drifting to page 2... Mrs P, no one is stopping '76 from bumping decent old threads, it is the ones that died a very quick natural death when they were first created that I personally can't see a reason to bring back from the grave. No one is saying he can't post, can't comment etc but do you really want damn near every post from the last three years restarted?

Bumping up d**n near every post from the last 3 years would indeed take some effort that I would have to recognise as being very thorough lololol... there are 1366 topics in the Hot Topics Aussie wide as it is and more being added every moment and that doesn't include the several hundred topics in girls ask etc.Lol, my topic, 'Search Me... Topics' was posted by me so people could have easy access to past topics. As you pointed out some of the topics bumped up are over 12 mths old, old enough that there are hundreds of new people in the forums that might want to answer. I'm pretty sure every topic bumped up received at least one other post besides that of the bumper lolol. One of the posts bumped up was an old one of ours that I got to have a bit more fun with.Lol Brae & Cheeky!Hugs y'all!

I agree that we can indeed go to far and starting a thread singling out one poster when there are actually a few responsible for bumping up old threads seems, in my opinion, to be going a bit too far. I don't see the harm in bumping up a few threads, {tempted to count them now n get a gauge of what going to far in yours and others opinion involves}, aside from the intolerant reactions of a few people who can always choose not to click on a topic if it doesn't interest them. Y'all have been around long enough to know that one... Part of my attitude here comes from my memory being jogged, by Whitehawk's thread that Myname bumped up, at the amount of strong minded people who have left the forums and RHP. People about who others in the forums are now saying that they miss their input in here. I'm not talking about disposable underwear... I go a whole step further in the interests of the environment in that area, just don't wear any at all if I can get away with it... Have a great weekend! Hugs... Mrs P'

Yup I disagree too. New comers to a forum will read back on a thread and may want to contribute something. Whether it be new advice, comment, shared expereinces etc . Sometimes this generates new conversations or it may be something that someone else wanted to raise but didnt know how to word it or too embarrassed to ask perhaps. In some instances posts are overshadowed by contraversial topics or current forum narkiness etc. I have seen people post a excellent original topic in here and get stuff all response, which I thought was well deserving of comment, while another post runs hot with arguments, and the decent topic disappears onto page two over night. This is prob one of the reasons ppl do not comment especially newbies in case of being shot down in flames or just lack of response because others leave the forums for a bit because of the agro. Goes back to the recently revived intimidation thread me thinkies. Amazes me sometimes hearing ppl talk about wanting fresh subject matter, ideas etc, yet dont support a decent thread when it comes along, or welcome new posters. Fresh blood is good, or is becomes stale and boring. Intrigued normally we agree just not this time soz. Mooka smackies for you, I remember when you were new to the forums, it can be very intimidating. You were in the same possie once that 76 is in now, just skip the threads you are not interested in revisiting. 76 resurrect away and any other newbies who want to me says. A friend from here suggested I take a peek at the forums, she knows how much I like a good verbal stoush now and again.But having read this thread I think I will give it a miss, seems there are some very touchy people here - a couple of people make what I consider valid comments and get hounded down by what I suspect are the regulars here. Funny thing is, I read this thread several times, and yet to find out where anyone said certain people can't post. The way i read it, it was about bumping old posts that weren't that good in the first place. Sure some of the posts others have bumped have been somewhat interesting but the rest - dead once and will die again soonest hopefully.At least I have learned something today, will be vary careful on whom I message, would hate for the msgs to end up in a forum post or two!!

From what I've seen of the RHP forums, there doesn't appear to be an upper limit on the number of threads that can be in existence at any given time. Each new one posted just adds another to the list, which has grown to 80+ pages. It seemed a little like spamming to me to just recreate a post that already existed. Sure, some were dead and buried - but if they weren't interesting enough to elicit a response after a renewal, then I doubt my posting a new thread of a similiar topic would do any better. If the boards were moderated, or had an upper limit to the number of available threads, I'd be a little more wary with the necromancy.

I make a simple post, head off for a few drinks with friends and come back to see a monster being created. Not my intention at all. Just a simple (and a I thought a tongue in cheek) request for Bluey aka The_Last_76 to cut it out on bringing up so many old posts. A little later I acknowledged revisiting a few old posts occassionally is great , but, to me, 21 of them in 24 hours! It was doing my head in. Apologies to The_Last_76 if I have offended you. Apologies to Mooka for the invasion of privacy you have experienced by adding your thoughts on an open forum. They were my thoughts at the time of making the post and ofcourse I am fully aware that others are not going to agree with my point of view and I have no problem at all with them......that is what makes the forum interesting. Peachypear....there are times when restraint can be a gift. My apologies in advance if you find this comment offensive. I will not enter into any further discussion with you in regards to this particular post. To all rhp members who have never joined in posting on the forums, please do not let this silly little piece put you off, being slammed on here is seen by some as foreplay....lol and not to be taken personally. intrigued & curious ~~~wandering off to find another scotch & dry, thanks...make it a double.

I admit I do get a bit carried away as most know. Push my button n off I go, I'm learning better slowly but surely. Please bear in mind as you read the thread that some of the posts appeared out of order which does give a misleading impression of what was there as posts were added.I added my own dose of exaggeration to all the other exaggerations around me on the thread lol. People going nuts and crazy bcause ALL the old posts are being bumped up etc...I have nothing against any of the people on this thread, like some of them, have a fondness for IC herself {an inside reference you might not have picked up}. I have no ire for mooka to bear the brunt of, just poorly presented points it seems. Lastly, I'd like to say that I didn't see anything personal in my message from mooka or any suggestion that I should keep it private. Still, I probably shouldn't have posted it. It won't happen again. I'm sorry Mooka. While I'm here I thought I'd add some trivia, I set up the thread 'Search Me... Profiles', on the 1st of Jan this year, at that time there were about 50 pages I think. Without having a good look around to be more specific, most of those 50 pages were added since the site upgrade in the last half of 2009. We are now up to 80 pages only a few months later. Incredible statistics when you consider the most active forums previously, the WA/Perth Hot Topics, had only generated up to around 60 pages at Jan this year since the forums first started in 2004. There have been quite a few threads resurrected by RHP, as what I've been calling ghost posts and I suppose we could use the term dead threads as well, in the last couple of months. These threads and posts are from people who deleted their profiles and when they did so, all their threads and posts disappeared from the forums. Now, they're back and some people aren't happy about that! You couldn't possibly know about the thread that was started to protest and consequently deleted. Ask me if you'd like to know more about it. You can recognise dead threads and ghost posts by the lack of any detail around the profile name. Hugs... :-Deb

intriguedcurious, I couldn't agree more with you that at times restraint is a gift, which is why I usually try to keep a tight rein on my tendency to exaggerate which I admit I did not on this thread though I think the points I made were valid. It was the lack of restraint/ exaggerations aimed at one individual in the first few posts that concerned me. 76 might not be new to RHP but he is new to the forums to the best of my knowledge. I've seen too many profiles deleted by people new to the forums in the last few weeks after experiencing this sort of thing whether we mean it in fun or not. I've also seen regulars delete their profiles! Threads often get out of control and this one had a better than usual chance that I didn't want to take. Your posts keep coming up later than mine because I gather you are moderated where I am not, which I did not know. But I have already offered my own apology to mooka which is further down the thread. This is a public forum and I'd like to point out that it was our privacy that was invaded by mooka when he messaged our profile, in our opinion. I was horrified to read about people messaging him thanking him for taking the brunt of my ire!!! I wasn't going to be messaging back privately not knowing who would then read my words. While I am using our couple profile to post, these posts are from Mrs P' only though MrP' had an opinion on this one about our profile being used for forum business. I apologise that I don't use my 'MrsP' profile but it's out of membership which limits my enjoyment of my experience.Lastly, I see mooka's most recent post... I accept that you don't accept my apology, thank you for your reply... please refer to my mention of you above for my feelings on the topic. I don't believe I have done and have no intention of offering any abuse. I'd be interested to hear how other people would feel about receiving private mail about a public topic. Man I must think differently... I'm satisfied I achieved my goal here which was to take the focus of one individual who hadn't asked for it and transfer it to another who did...
