Nude beach shelter

January 03 2016

Hi All, We are thinking about going to the nude beach at greys lane in Byron and were wondering, what do people use for shelter from the sun at nude beaches. Is a tarp and a couple of poles the norm or do you go all out and set up a quik shade.Thinking the tarp would be a lot easier to carry down to the dunes.

A pop up beach shelter, most come with carry bags and available at outlets like Ray's.We just use a beach umbrella with low slung chairs to sit under it. Sitting or laying comfort is the most important if you're staying a while, the next is shade and fluids.

I see a few umbrellas - but mostly pop up shade tents, they're so cheap and easy to setup for a 2 person size. I guess it depends if you want to sit on a chair, I'd use an umbrella in that case.

Quoting 'Summer_solstice' Sitting on an umbrella doesn't sound all that comfy, but that's just me. :-P LOL brilliant :-) now stop bullying me about my awkward phrasing ;-)

Just with whatever you use, be aware to make it wind proof. I stopped by Grays lane for the first time on my drive back to Sydney on Friday. Whilst the breeze was warm it was quite gusty and I noticed a couple of people had issues keeping their shelters pegged down. Alas I didn't have a shelter at all, and with my refurbished shoulder, I can no longer reach one spot on my back and got a nice 6x6 inch red souvenir patch for my efforts... :)
