When used in any sentence to me it means just ignore everything I said before but. It usually is followed by a negative statement and used to argue. Ms Foxy

Year righto! It is a bullshit red flag statement. It is normally used as a redirection when the person who said it has been put in an awkward situation. They only use it as humor to take the heat of them. When in fact they have delibertly gone out of their way to hurt a person's feelings. Ms Foxy

Mr B.... as a white Anglo Saxon Protestant with all the privileges that come along with it I'm struggling to see what issues anyone could have with a well educated thoughtful Australian like Waleed 🤔 "I'm not a racist, but..." gets me every time. I'll give most people in life a second chance, but not if I hear that one! ps. rocking the dad bod and loving getting the kit off at the local nude beach 😘 Cheers mr S

And a very close second.... ‘To be honest...’ Argh!!! When people start a sentence with that I always think to myself, ‘my starting premise was that you’d be speaking honestly anyway, why the fuck do you need to clarify that? Are you normally dishonest?!’

My pet hate phrase "this is so on trend". I don't care how supposedly trendy something is. I like things that suit my taste and if that makes them dorky then so be it 😁

No, teach your 3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10 yr old to how to behave and use manners or just accept they are annoying brats. At a BBQ it is not ok or cute, for a child to wipe their hands across their snooty nose, then use same hands to touch food on the table with. It's gross. I will say it again. It is not cute! Tell them to wash their hands. Ms Foxy

I am uncomfortable with terms such as white privilege and male privilege. I agree there is some validity to the terms however they are often misused in the following ways; Firstly, they tend to erroneously imply that statistical generalisations apply to all to individuals within the specified group. There are many disadvantaged white males and many privileged black females (there are just much less of those than disadvantaged black females and privileged white males). I don't feel that the terms acknowledge that nuance. Secondly, they are used to present an unbalanced view of the whole picture by ignoring certain factors. For example we seldom hear about the counterpoints of male burden or female privilege yet they exist nonetheless. I would argue that under-pinning these privileges is mostly one thing - wealth. Yet how often do we hear the term wealth privilege? In my opinion, there is valuable discourse to be had as a society about what is validly earned privilege and what is not. However, the terms white privilege and male privilege do not serve justice to this discourse as they are far too general terms that obscure the view of where and how these injustices actually originate.

I like to try & give the benefit of the doubt (at least for the first time) unless proven differently. Good will too all I say. (unless they want to do serious harm to me).

Also, a personally hatred is when people use the word “kicks” when talking about shoes/sneakers. I’m a bit of a sneaker head (especially basketball shoes), but I refuse to use the term “kicks” when speaking about them.

Recently I have come to be annoyed when people use the phrase "old school". They often use this phrase when referring to dating or relationships. It's as if they think that whatever they refer to as old school was somehow better than what it is now. I think far too many people have little to no understanding of history and how far things have progressed in today's world. They are blinded by the reality due to the hype of the media who make it seem as if everything is doom and gloom.

Totally agree with qefenta on 'everything happens for a reason.' Total cop out that seems to trivialize someone's feelings. "I could care less." So, what you're saying is that you do care a least a little? I think you mean, you couldn't care less. Another is 'hence why'. Hence means why. So you're pretty much saying why why. Just...no. Sorry if there's have already been said, my nerves couldn't handle reading through all the responses and wanting to tear my hair out because they're sooo bad hahaha Miss Little xx

Quoting 'MattAli2702' LittleGiant if you look hence up on Google the definition says: adverb 1. as a consequence; for this reason. "many vehicle journeys (and hence a lot of pollution) would be saved" synonyms: in consequence, consequently, as a consequence, for this reason, therefore, thus, so, accordingly, as a result, because of that, that being so, that being the case, on that account; ergo "many vehicle journeys (and hence a lot of pollution) would be saved" 2. from now (used after a period of time). "two years hence they might say something different" So hence why does make sense and is not the same as saying why why. It's all about context, and the context I was referring to was the following (taken from Washington State University): But another sense of the word “hence” (“therefore”) causes more trouble because writers often add “why” to it: “I got tired of mowing the lawn, hence why I bought the goat.” “Hence” and “why” serve the same function in a sentence like this; use just one or the other, not both: “hence I bought the goat” or “that’s why I bought the goat.”

I'm only joking when clearly the person isn't joking they're being condescending by putting someone down, unfortunately the person on the receiving end doesn't always pick up on it. :(
