Music for the Soul

January 19 2011

I've been pretty down in the dumps lately (not long until 2012, I keep telling myself !). Anyway, I've been interested in the type of music I keep playing over and over. While on one hand it keeps me feeling sad I also find it therapeutic. I sing along and direct all the lyrics as if I'm singing them to the person I'm thinking about. Currently it's PINK's GREATEST HITS CD. I can't get enough of it ! In particular it's "Whataya want from me", "Fuckin Perfect" and "Heartbreak Down". Those songs go over in my head. One day I hope to replace them with others a little more uplifting. On an up note listening to Pink also makes me rather horny. She is so damn HOT, I don't know what it is about her but for some reason she's the one woman I would consider getting down and dirty with. Is there a particular song you're singing/listening to ? Or perhaps there's some other inspirational crap I should be singing instead ? Hugs, Miss Saturn

You are so damned deliciously right. That woman is hotttt! Not so much physically for me, but still makes me quiver a lil.Music advice: Listen to some SOUL. It still often about being in love or losing love (isn't most music), but either way it will make you feel goooood / horny / have a daggy boogie (and maybe cry it out...but that may be just what you need).Depending on what's your 'thing' try some of The Temptations, Supremes, Gladys Knight, Barry White (heehee I love it so MUCH!!!), Marvin Gaye, or even try some girly indulgences such as the Ronettes.Try things that you can relate to but with a boppy beat that lets you know it'll be ok.Works for me! Hope you're feeling better soon!Xx Carla

If I am feeling a bit down and want to indulge that head space, then I usually go with U2, or the Cranberries or Girl Overboard's delightfull Paint a picture album, I love Lisa Schouws voice. Mostly though i would prefer to get out of that head space, and play something else more upbeat with a higher energy feel.Cheers Nev

I can't think of any suggestions for you Miss Saturn. | And it's all because the minute you mention 'Pink' and 'horny' in the same post, I think of her concert performance last year of the Divinyls' 'I Touch Myself'. And then I can't think straight at all! | ... is it just me or has Sydney gotten warm this evening??

check it out on u-tube, it'll have u blubbering like a baby. jeff buckley's 'grace' album is great heartbreak music. u can really get into that album and feel it, its one of my faves. at the moment im really diggin vinnie vincent invasion's 'boys are gonna rock.' its full on hair metal, which i loved as a teenager and still do. is that tragic? its nothing at all like jeff buckley.

There is a photo stashed in my one of my private galleries...the days of my more "jaded youth" when sex, drugs and rock-&-roll were what the world was about. Fortunately, I gave up one of those. To quote the first line from a very inspirational poem by William Congreve..."Music has charms to sooth a savage breast, to soften rocks or bend a knotted oak". | Let's see here... | Bryan Adams - Ain't Missing You - The Best Was Yet to Come - Blessing in Disguise - One Night Love Affair - Never Let Go - The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You | Joe Satriani - Crying - I Believe | Shania Twain - Come on Over - Gonna Getcha - Honey I'm Home - That Don't Impress Me - If You're Not In It For Love | That ought to get you started...and let's face it, Shania is definitely a hot chick! I guess at times it's like somebody said..."The past doesn't equal the future unless you decide to let it". Can't remember who that was? | If all else fails, I do know an accomplished guitarist that now plays an acoustic 12 string, although doesn't sing quite as well as he used to...but still manages to grind a few out. You can drowned him out doing your "Pink" bits. | He charges top dollar for a private session but rumour has it that he also works for good company... | ...a fine cigar and good whiskey. | Just show him how talented you are with your "Pink" bits and i am sure it will be free!

all summer long. Kid Rock. Corny i know..... always makes me feel good. Maybe I am a frustrated hippy or maybe it's about a girl I never would have had a chance with anyway, maybe it's something I drank. I don't know. banana pancakes. Jack Johnson. He has a lot of other great stuff. Just the way he sounds makes any day better. Pink is great. A woman with attitide. Love that word.Cher, Shania Twain party for two, men are like shoes, AcDc, Meatloaf, so much great music. Miss Saturn come see me in Darwin. I can't sing, but I will do a bedroom rendition of When I think about you "I touch myself" that will make 2011 into an outstanding year.

Soosy, great choice of music, I'd like to listen to your collection one day. But also add Powderfinger (live) & Live (live)....very loud!! I love the live @ Paradisio DVD or Powderfinger live here in Townsville cranking out of my stereo too, great concerts!! Maybe not music for the soul but great to listen to while doing stuff round the house! As for Pink...what a concert that was. I've only seen the DVD, but the Divinyls song she does is very hot!!

Thanks everyone. Great suggestions. I'm going to create a new playlist for my iphone with a selection of the above. I'm going to go check a few out now and will let you know their "impact". Glad I'm not the only one who finds Pink HOT. What is it about that woman ? I think it's about the attitude she radiates. It's really a "fuck the lot of you, I"m living life my way" attitude. At first I thought it was her physical fitness but I certainly don't get ANY buzz from looking at Madonna's body so it's gotta be more than simply biceps and abs. On another comic note... my 6 year old loves the ACDC song, "Highway to Hell". She picks up the wii guitar, wears her "Rock Chicks Rule" tshirt and belts out a pretty mean but ohhhh sooo cute rendition of the classic hit. She's come a long way since the Wiggles ! Hugs, Miss Saturn

One of the things that I found hot about Pink...was her decorum in personal and/or the more relaxed and "off stage" interviews. When she was here in Oz a while back, she rebuilt her media schedule around the news coming out of the mining disaster and was both incredible gracious and articulate. Package the total package...now that is HOT!!!

Yeah, I know there are a lot of Bob Dylan haters out there, but when I am feeling low, I listen to "Blood on the Tracks," voted one of the top ten break-up albums of all time by Yahoo! last year (I felt vindicated...I have been saying that for years). It is a heart wrenching collection of songs, and I love every one of them. I completely understand the feeling of listening to songs that are sad when you are sad. I do it all of the time. Music I have been lovig lately, whether I am sad or not, would include The Hold Steady (Boys and Girls in America), and Atmosphere (Anything by these guys). Miss_Saturn, I hope 2011 gets better before 2012 arrives. And tell your daughter to keep on rocking! (Imagine me flicking the "devil's horns"). I would take AC DC over the Wiggles any day!

Sometimes you just get to the point where you say... I've been patient...I did nothing wrong... I deserve better and I have to go for it-because if I don't get it for me-who will? F*** the fan dance and the coy batting of eyelids! Pick up the chair you once kicked out, smash it on the bar and stake the crazy b*** that's standing between you and what you want-not because she wants it but because she can! While I'm doing all this I wonder...Is he going to stand there gawking with his hand on it-or is he actually going to make a move? You will always get what you deserve in life-fortune favours the brave. Quoting 'NymphetamineDrm' You will always get what you deserve in life-fortune favours the brave. Always-the hero gets the girl.| | Damn...it's good to see you back in true form ND. I thought maybe the guys in the black Storm Trooper suits had sent the Millenium Falcon spinning off into a black hole...never to return? Chewie just hates it when that happens. | Just go easy with the wooden stakes to the heart will you? Sure, that will cark a vampire but skews the ratio of heros to villians with the same efficacy. We all know it's a numbers game anyway and you can't always tell the players without a score card. | Heroes don't always win...watch "The Legend of Tom Horn" some cold and rainy afternoon, not a half bad way to burn up a lazy recovery day on a weekend. He really was a hero, but the mob hysteria got him in the end...well, mostly in the neck but I liked the part where he dropped the Apache tears on the ground when his boots stopped short of it by about three feet. It's actually a true story and you can "google it" but short form....Horn was arrested, tried in a controversial trial and hanged the day before his 43rd birthday in 1903. A retrial was held in 1993 in which he was declared innocent. The New York Times described the trial...“Once Guilty, Now Innocent, But Still Dead.” Oh well...seems the players in some games never change? | Back to the topic...think you might like the lyrics to "You Can't Always Get What You Want" - Rolling Stones - 1969 Let It Bleed. Won't post the lyrics...you probably have them memorized, but who is going to argue with Mick and Keith? | ...and besides, now that you're back my sometimes longer posts are going to look less like something by Tolstoy!

I must be wierd...when I'm in a shitty mood, depressed, overtired overworked, underpaid or monday morning, i crank up the fields of the nephlim, good old fashioned slit your wrists 80's goth....give it about 5 minutes and I start to think "hmm...my life ain't THAT bad" Never fails.
