Mere Mail.

May 22 2011

As someone who can at times find it hard to express my thoughts through writing, I often end up spending a lot of time on my correspondence (messages, chats and of course forum posts). I try hard to ensure that my efforts at humorous, sexy and/or serious writing come accross as I intend, knowing I need to be extra careful when drinking. I'm still pretty terrible at chat though as misinterpretation of intended tone can ruin my most well thought out sentence. . Lately I've been spending some time away from RHP and every time I come back I end up spending WAY too much time catching up on what I've missed out on (Seriously you guys and gals, three pages of topics in a week! Not to mention the new posts on older threads that I'm interested in). . My question is... . How do you do it? . How are you able to write multiple posts, messages/emails, chat and still do all the day to day things, like eat and sleep, all in the one night? . I'm quite able to multitask on other things but when I'm writing I tend to focus all of my attention on it. I know I'm not getting anywhere near the amount of mail most females seem to get, nor even a lot of males, yet I'm struggling to keep in contact with those that I'm already talking to. Now I'm not whinging I'm just seeking help. . Any tips? . Cheers . Rusty

Obviously the first thing I need to learn is to cut down on the size of my posts. . Thought I'd better add that before any of you smart arses pointed it out. . Cheers . Rusty Will you look at that. He did it.

Writing comes easy to some people and other people agonise over it forever. Dont stress about it, You seem quite literate to me in your post. Go with the flow if its easy write, if its difficult just read the good bits. Enjoy life and all it has to offer.

Quoting 'focusliason' Its how I do it...lol . Kisses Focus Lol. I've tried that Focus. It works in the short term but I'm looking for a longer term solution. I work with power tools and trucks running all over the shop so I kind of need my wits about me. Plus energy drinks only keep you going for so long. . I alos found that I end up crashing after a few days, miss a few nights recovering and wind up having the same problem all over again. . Any other ideas? . Cheers . Rusty

The only problem I have with writing is writing too much (it's usually nothing for me to rack up 500 words in 15 minutes but I'll then spend another 30 going over it) and I used to try very hard, read and re-read my writing to see if it sounded okay. Lately I've begun taking RHP less seriously and focusing on enjoying more of what life has to offer as you say. I still find RHP and the forum fun and seek to maintain it in my life but I'm wanting to spend my time on here more efficiently. Obviously, as I point out above, being more concise will help. . I guess I'm more seeking time management strategies and I see my writing as holding me up. . Cheers . Rusty

Never do now what can wait until AFTER you have been through the forums. LOL. A rapid typing speed helps and clarity of thought. I would never dream of typing while drinking. Those drunk texts are not a good thing. I am fortunate that I am in a position whereby I can jump on the net for odd intervals during the day if I want to and after the kids go to bed...it is all MY TIME!

Use your phone or oven timer and set aside a certain amount of time to get on the forums. Easy. When the alarm goes off resist the temptation to set another 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes.......

If I need to put some thought into a post, I'll often use MS Word to write and expand on my thoughts. This allows me to read through and edit as necessary, and also to walk away and come back later if I get hung up on something. Once I'm happy, it's a simple copy and paste into the forum, then a 24-48 hour wait to actually see the post.On the other hand, if it's a crappy one-liner I'm after, I just post straight to the forum

Stalky's points are valid. . I try and keep up with the forums. I check in a few times a day for 10 or 20 mins at a time... sometimes less, sometimes more. . I stick to the point. . Type VERY fast and think faster. . I'm pretty sure I could do this for a living. . If you think managing RHP updates is tricky, try also writinig a daily blog and monitoring a few other sites. Plus there's all the daily text messages to reply to. . RHP is my "smoko break"... it's what I do when I need to clear my head of work crap and fill it with sexual crap. . xx Saturn

Technology. | Go for a high horsepower desktop system and be sure to set up two high res wide screens and go for it. Just a couple of thoughts... | If you are on your own website writing code, answering an email, adding to a blog as well as this one too...be careful not to type in "holy shit, you have an amazing ass" without checking before hitting enter. | The other is to avoid talking to yourself or answering your own posts in these forums.

The only posts i really put thought into are the ones where people might think i'm being critical/insulting.Other than that I've spent enough time on other forums to realise that it's really liberating to be as silly as i want on here and not be worried if people think i'm a dickhead. If that's what freedom to post lame half-assed jokes costs, it is so totally worth it. Let it be an outlet for you, but remember it's just not that important in the grand scheme.xx Sarah

I tend to agree, Sarah...and damn how tired is everyone getting of the grandstanding and arguing online? Although you really should take this much more seriously young lady... | Quoting 'curiousnewgirl78'Be prepared to be an idiot. | Just a rumour I suppose but I have heard that some folks appreciate a sense of humour and of course, really big... | ...eyes. And nice shoes.

Sarah I've already accepted that I'm an idiot (I'm just trying to not let anyone else know). . Ok, so my road to improvement checklist reads: 1. Procrastinate (already got that one mastered), 2. Set a time limit and keep to it, 3. Learn how to think faster (we'll see if we can prod some life out this lump that I've got), 4. Repeat 1, 5. Find a job that allows me time on RHP during the day, 6. Stick to the point (I know exactly what you mean Miss S. There was this one time.... ooops, Sorry), 7. See if I can partition the one screen I've got (I run it through my TV so there shouldn't be a size issue), 8. Repeat 1, 9. Learn to relax about responding to emails quickly. . Stalky - I'm not sure if I can do the streams of consciousness style. The Nun's back at school were a little too free with their.... rulers. CM - I was only talking to myself as I was taking the advice of Focus and there was no-one else to talk to. . So I've consulted, drawn up a plan and now I'm researching the merits of my plan. All I have left to do is to put it into action. Or I could just repeat 1 again. . Thanks for the tips everyone. . Cheers . Rusty

Isn't the fun to be had when someone sounds idiotic and they aren't trying to hide it? . How about silly? I'm quite okay with making silly comments. They're much less embarrissing to wake up to when they've finally gotten through the censors. . I just hope you can tell the difference between when I'm making silly, serious and just plain idiotic posts. . Cheers . Rusty
