Is it taboo now to say you're interested in older women?

With alll this talk about Cougars (where were they when I was in my 20s / 30s ) the fact is that I, and many men, would be quite happy to enjoy the company (hopefully reciprocating) of an older woman.  Of course someone we find attractive (and that would go both ways - no woman should be with anyone she isn't attracted to) but it's almost like it's only 40 ish women with younger men rather than people looking for compatible partners of whatever age - where the woman is older than the guy.   I may be looking for something discreet - but that's not universal - so is a genuine desire to meet and enjoy the company of older women tainted now by the media tag - or don't older women care?  (I know younger men don't)
