For almost a year I lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains,it is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been. I remember it and the friends I made there fondly .Even though my daughter is now twenty-eight, and it was twenty years ago,she can still recite the Pledge of Allegiance all the way through. Happy Fourth of July x Hugs H

I feel the first bit of homesickness since coming to Australia. I want fireworks, a proper ungodly sticky east coast BBQ, friends, family, charred roadkill-cow anus on a bun (also known as "hot dogs," the annual bite of apple pie that reminds me how much I hate cooked fruit, stories from the many naturalized citizens that reminds me of how fortunate I am to be an American and the afro/indo/Latin versions/adulterations of traditional American foods ("your mom made BBQ goat meat?" "Why does this potato salad taste like tikka masala?") that we 1st generation kids grumbled about but now miss so much. I want s'mores and maybe bubbles, hugs, kisses, a trip to sephora. I love you, even though it's election year and CNN-Fox-MSNBC exist. If that's not true love, I don't know what is. America.... FUCK YA!

I'm actually a pom, I came here in 1964, and as a petulant teenager swore I would never take up citizenship until Australia declared independence !I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be 52 and still waiting !Apollo and Velvet, I'll deep fry something in your honour.
