I would divide the $30 mill into two halves and setup a charity fund foundation with one half, then keep the other half and split it into: 1) give some to my family; 2) buy some properties for investment; 3) put some in the term deposit; 4) make extra donations (on top of the charity foundation) to the hospitals and Salvation Army, etc. 5) go travelling for a month (I get terrible home sick after being away from home for too long, so a month is good, take a break then go again lol) flying First Class and Business Class in all legs, and stay in 5 star hotels all the way; 6) buy one expensive but genuine quality jade bangle, and some rings that are made of gemstones such as, Tourmaline and Rhodochrotise. Isn't it nice to dream such a big dream! Lol - Posted from rhpmobile

Then I would hire a top venue and put on 80s music and as much nice food and drink as anyone could eat/drink then set up a gate outside , when people who have been genuine friends come they could come in but people who only used me gossiped about me or we're mean to me would get diverted into another room with techno music cheap cask wine and stale fairy bread lol - Posted from rhpmobile

I'd pay out the mortgage, set up money in trusts for the little ones, buy some more houses for an investment, go on a massive round the world trip 5 star all the way with all the family, buy some beautiful gifts for my family and friends, help some friends that haven't been as fortunate as us. I would quit my job and not because I don't love it but because I would love to buy a country pub/hotel or caravan park and live there and run it with my family. - Posted from rhpmobile

Putting aside money for my kids' future. Buying a fully optioned Kenworth T909 and parking it in the driveway of my new house and throw bourbon tins at it for a week before going on a round Australia holiday. AND..... I'd buy a Cessna Citation CJ3 Mustang as a charter plane for possibly small numbered meet and greets at 30,000'. Almost a tri-city meet and greet in one night :) Before investing in a few properties, and then donating portions of the rest to the following charities:- Asthma foundation Canteen. The McGrath foundation. The Salvation Army. The royal children's hospital. Ronald McDonald house. Before putting the rest into a very broad optioned super fund :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I would do is get an accountant. I would take care of myself and my family before anyone else. Watch all the wannabe friends come crawling out of the woodwork. Maybe have some play money on the stock market, absolutely bank enough that I could live off the interest. Starting my own business would be a good option, I have some plans already. I would choose up to 5 low income families with $1 million each and teach them to have money, appoint them an accountant who manages the money and to work with them with stipulations that everyone needs to be employed or educated and not on drugs, the money would be used for rewards for reaching milestones to getting on their feet and helping them initially to get out of any debt. Once the accountant feels that they are good to go on their own, then they keep the rest.

Also as mentioned before, I would help out some friends that are doing it tough........ The standard investment properties, except I'll have a few around the world as well......... My long time dream has always been to set up a street kid house, where the teenagers can live and receive private tutoring, drug rehabilitation, counselling etc. This would be initially run by a group of teachers and professionals, hopefully incorporating the successful teenagers later.

Look after my family and three or four friends. $7m earns $2000/wk in interest sooooo a term deposit could be good. Start my own business, the kind I always wanted. Donate to the Salvos, Leukemia Foundation and Bravehearts. Help out an under priviledged family who are living in their car. Buy two or three properties and work my ass off happily ever after.

For future financial freedom(coz never know what could happen tomorrow) buy a heap of property and find single parents who could rent it out cheaply(genuine parents who would look after the properties like it was their own house that they would have a never ending lease while there) go on an amazing holidays around the world(home school kiddo for a year or 2 pending what we did) volunteer at work under my conditions(no less staff on the floor and i worked in the area i wanted to work in, not be told where to work) buy a business that is already successful with staff etc bank a bit so we could live off the interest - Posted from rhpmobile

Pay off my ever increasing debt, give to the Royal Flying Doctors, also the RACQ Careflight Group. Buy a couple of good investment properties. Make sure my family had no more money worries. Also a new boat, ute car and house for myself. Then what is left over seek some professional advice. And yeah, keep working because I love it. - Posted from rhpmobile

Get help from an accountant first of all. Then I'd pay my debts, give a enough to my parents and brother so they will never have financial worries and buy myself a house near the ocean. I'd probably spend ten million or so on long-term sustainable care for both homeless people and animals, and make volunteering in a dog shelter my job.

But........maybe it's just me ?

Maybe you could buy a yacht and take tourists around the carribean a few times a year as your business. Something you love, you live in paradise and every day feels like a holiday. Or maybe buy a bar on the beach... Pick up a new gorgeous girl every day. Having your own business is only limited by your imagination. It doesn't all have to be early starts and long hours. And certainly if you have a passion for something it gives your life purpose. In my 20's I travelled for 12 mths and by the end of it I was a little bored and jaded. You can't bum around for ever. Although bumming around 6 mths each year sounds pretty good to me. :-D

a very close friend of mine won 30m a few years ago actually I was with him the night he bought the ticket. so Iv thought about this question MANY TIMES. that night he bought the ticket he asked me what would you do if you won 30 mill, my answer was "xxxxx I dont believe in that kind of luck, I believe I have to work to get to my goals and make my luck however you are stupid to play it and your also stupid not to play it" I would take a good 4 - 6 months off and take all my close friends and relatives that i get along with for a trip to all the countries I like to revisit or visit for the 1st time and party, eat, enjoy new experiences learning how they live etc... then buy a house a few properties in the places I love near beach that are relaxed, layed back with close access to good natural fresh produce ... "tropical island in Thailand, Spain, Brazil , Dubai and maybe one in Perth too" buy a few more toys "ducati Diavil, cars Lamborghini aventador or a koiningsegg ccx and a new GTR with a few mods, sell a few of my current toys " and make them very unique, and buy a 200k car for each member of my family "Bentley for dad, S500 for mum and a bmw M6 for little sister with the condition that I can borrow them anytime I would like :-) and an Aston martin for best friends. buy my younger sister an apartment or house near the city somewhere. start 2 big business's, one in import export and another a franchise in the health and fitness industry I dont think I would buy a yacht after seeing what my friend who won the lotto went through with his.. its always eazier just to rent one out when I feel like it.. help finance my close friends start a few business's if they come to me with good plans. will have such a mad party house with a few rooms just for crazy wild sex :-) Ill try my best not to change much towards my friends as the process it self is life changing

But 10 x $500k house as investments and rent them out at the Perth market rate of approximately $500 p/w... That gives me an income of $5k per week for the rest of my life. But myself my dream home, dream motorbikes etc. Set education money up for my kids, then start helping out a few close others that need it. Then the balance wouldn't matter and can use it for whatever. I would go to uni, and study to become a social welfare worker, and start my own voluntary business helping others get back on there feet via what ever methods is required on a case by case situation.... Helping them help themselves with the knowledge I can funds some of there ventures if required. Ride my Harley to the places that require me to, get my hands dirty helping, and ride back to my beachside modest home decked out with a man cave overlooking the ocean! - Posted from rhpmobile

That's a lot of money, what I'd do is look after family and friends, never do another day of paid work ever again, instead choosing to volunteer my time to the homeless, domestic violence victims and bravehearts, invest some, donate some, set up trust funds for the children, (that they wouldn't be able to touch until they were 30), start knocking over the items on my bucket list and like DG get pissed, run a muck and party for a couple of weeks.....💋

Is that the percentage you do for or give to charity is not dependant on money. Ppl always hypothesise that winning money would make them so much more charitable, or allow them time to give. Its not charitable to give away money that was given to you. - Posted from rhpmobile

Take all my friends to Vegas for a week of fucked up sex, drugs and alcohol, get arrested and do it again for another week. Then I'd travel the world and visit every single place I can get to. Date Emma watson Make a suit out of $100 bills. Then find those doing it tough, like really tough, not a druggy or an alco but those people who work their arse off to make sure their kids are fed and schooled, have no time for their own health and I'd anonymously give them a check, just enough to give then a breather and help them out a bit, I learnt only recently when I was very young my parents didn't eat because they only had enough money to feed my brother and I. Lastly I'd by a restaurant, one where anyone can get a feed and stay warm for a bit, I'd have money invested so I can keep it running, maybe have a couple of food vans or something. Oh and hire a really gorgeous personal trainer to get me looking fit and buff, she can be my distraction through the pain ;)

Buy a large property on undulating land, house unwanted horses on the property. Build my own mountain bike course. Build bungalows and have swingers and nudist weekends. Buy my kids houses give our present house to the daughter in law and pay off the son in laws mortgage. Take mum out of the nursing home and care for her ourselves. Invest the rest and give half the interest to beyond blue.

I'd first TALK (only) to a professional advisor of some sort, just to get an idea of the pitfalls and problems that people who suddenly come across this kind of money can face... Then I think I'd do the following: Pop 5m in a Swiss account for emergencies or if WW3 broke out...whateverTurn 5m into gold and/or diamonds in case currencies all collapsed (AND ALSO AS INVESTMENT)5m to take care of kids and familyThen I'd just buy a nice house (2m would more than cover my simple needs). I'm already near the beach, so just update to something ON the beach with nice big water views.Buy my Jag (and a Harley to cruise around on)A couple of million or more on reliable charities that look after the 3rd world countries (World Vision, UNICEF, etc).I'd probably buy a little Music shop (Instruments (Sale, service & repairs) Sheet Music, CD's etc. Have Manager but go in to work when I felt like it, otherwise I'd go batty... Plus the business would make a number of things tax deductible. Other than that, I'd be pretty set... LOL Good Topic!!!

MeAgain7 You'v nailed it with your 1st choice of seeing a professional advisory as the transition is very stressful all of a sudden you will have 100s of friends and relatives with expectations etc etc also people looking ant treating you differently however just wanted to let you know one thing "DIAMONDS" are not a real commodity / appreciating asset in times of stress or not. the moment you buy a diamond it has depreciated and its resell value is close to 1/3rd the price you payed for it as most diamond is sold as a emotional / sentimental value. Gold on the other hand is known to be an appreciating asset as almost everyone knows :-) so if you want to give your lovely woman something that will always be worth more and can come in handy in tough times stay away from diamonds and if your investing then its the last thing to look at unless ur investing in an African diamond farm traveling and helping people from all over the world would be high on my list but I dont mean giving them money, more like buying a little farm giving kids shelter and place to live farm and learn etc while i learn their ways of living too its fascinating to see the less simple life's and the joys they get from the simple basic things

Very simple, Help the Ex out & buy her a house [No I do not hate her] Spend a Mill on cars and a Holiday, Invest the rest give half the interest to charity, & live on the rest. That way when I am gone there will be something for my children to fight over.

First thing I would lay naked on my bed in $100 bills. Why? Well why the hell not lol 😉 then design my dream home and take my family on a amazing holiday while it's being built. Would also buy my brothers a house. And lots of money to help family and close friends. Then invest a lot and possibly buy a business. Trust accounts for my kids too 😊 and have one hell of a party for sure. That would be first lol - Posted from rhpmobile

I guess I'm lucky that I already donate and volunteer to a number of charities then hey, all a shit load of money would do, is I'd be able to donate more and if I didn't have to work for a living, then I'd have a lot more time on my hands to volunteer..... If you volunteer or donate your time or money, regardless if the money was given to you or not, it's still a charitable thing to do...... Oh and this is just MY opinion.......💋

Id buy some houses to get an investment income. Set up all my sisters and brother in a home. Set up trust fund for each of their kids. Sell off surplus business items and only keep things I can use for kids to get them of the streets, teach kids how to DJ and organise other activities. Also organise some events and activities for elderly. Mum was always looking for something before she passed away. Would have all the time in the world to do this stuff.. Get them away from Drugs, alcohol and smoking and give the elderly something to do. Plenty of fun things to do and would have lots of time to do it. Oh and some travel wouldn't go astray.

I could just squander the winnings on holidays, a new house or two, new car, boat, jewellery, clothes, shoes, eating out at Michelin starred restaurants, maybe a meal at each one around the world. I do love my food :) But knowing me, I'd be hiring attorneys, financial advisors, setting up trust funds, looking for ways to invest, while the whole time trying to keep quiet so as to not attract vultures. Then I'd feel the obligation to help out family and friends, donating to charities. But how much is enough? I'm stressed just thinking about it! Thanks Meeka. Just what I need on a Saturday morning LOL A smaller winning would have been much easier to deal with :P - Posted from rhpmobile

I don't buy lotto so I have already won . I believe it's a world of dreams . My mum used to say we would win the litre one day and everytime as a kid I would look with excitement thinking today is the day . After years if disappointment my dreams were shattered as everything that was ever promised didn't come true. So in my working like on an average spend per week I would of saved $31,000 in not buying lotto .... Winning lol - Posted from rhpmobile

I had a client at an old workplace that won $5,000,000 She came into our workplace and announced that fact, and then asked for a quote. You can guess the boss added 30% to her quote straight away. The next week she was on a current affair as a "lotto winner". We got to know her real well over the next three or four months, and she was spending money all over the place. Paid off her modest home in a modest suburb. Renovated it, new car etc. Paid off her parents home. Bought herself a 60's mustang. Then she started helping out "friends". People came out of the woodwork. She bought one guy a boat, and then another because the first wasnt big enough. Helped a few people out with 'loans', but they didnt pay them back. We saw her again a year later. She wanted some work done and we quoted her. Didnt go ahead because she was 'being a bit more careful' with her money". Another six or so months go by and we see her again. She had a sad sad story of how she had lost the lot. Had nothing left, and was working again to make ends meet. The cars she bought werent looked after because 'she can buy anything now', the friends had disappeared, etc etc. Not long after that, she was on a current affair as the women who "lost $5 million in two years". I know a person that worked at the lotteries commission. They helped people finance their money when they have a big win. I remember discussing the difference in people before they actually get their money, and just after. Before, the majority are all "Im keeping a 1/4 and giving the rest away to help charities/disadvantaged/freinds/etc". Soon after, they realise that this is their one chance, and hold onto the lot as tightly as they can, not giving anything away. -- As for the original question: $30 million is a lot. Build a nice home in the hills. Finance an apartment building or housing project. Purchase commercial property Buy a home in LA Sort my parents out financially on a retirement package Secretly pay out the mortgage of one friends home, who has struggled their entire lives. Handful of nice cars. Keep working.
