How much does porn effect what turns us on? is it healthy?

Porn has been around for a long time (I once saw some very explicit stuff from the late 1800's.) Some porn I think is great, some stuff I don't like at all, like much American stuff which I find very female-unfriendly.I think it becomes a problem when teenagers who are growing up with it come to expected bald pussies, fake boobs and women screaming and reaching orgasm from just a couple of thrusts. I love European porn with lots of touching and kissing and no "You like that, bitch?" crap. The stuff where the actors actually seem to have fun.

Nearly everyone watches porn. It's definitely changed my perception of what is or isn't possible with sex. Reading about it in books or just looking at pics is not the same as watching it. Porn doe's have a effect on behaviour just as violent video games have a effect on children. See too much of it and it some start to believe this is the way it is. Used in moderation and at a opportune time can be beneficial , but over use can and will deaden the senses somewhat. I'm a occasional watcher and more often than not I find something that makes me go wow.. When I do ' it's great. But I know its few and far between...

Depends on what kind of Porn.Not everyone acts out on things that may turn them on, I may stay firmly in the fantasy thing and never be experienced. I see and view porn for what it is - generally poor sexual acting pretending to be entertainment for the people who think it might actually be good watching. Some of it can be, but as most of us know, it is often poorly scripted with totally unrealistic actions between porn actors. American porn is generally OTT in many facets, whereas noted, Euro porn has better quality written all through it. Problem is, too many younger people tend to think porn is a realistic representation of what people like and / or expect. Maturity is definitely required to see through what is being offered. Tall

I lament the loss of intimacy in sex. Intimacy takes intention, time, connection, heart. It's about all the other parts of the body and spirit, before the genitals even feature. I don't know if people have lost interest, have never developed the skills or simply don't have the patience to cultivate intimacy, but it seems SO rare. Even in relationships, not just in casual affairs. I think porn and the burgeoning hook-up culture have a lot to do with it. Over-watching porn desensitizes people. It's like over-using an electric clitoral vibe can really numb the clitoris and can 'train' the clit to only get off with that intense stimulation. So too can porn 'train' watchers to only get off with that type of sex, and to chase more and more new experiences. And then the growing hook-up culture teaches people that the ultimate goal is a fuck - suddenly people rate porn-based fucks as the holy grail. I crave more and more and deeper and deeper experiences of intimacy and sensuality. Of spectacular connection and chemistry, explored and developed over time with one man. Porn is the antithesis of that for me. When I'm in a relationship with a man who desires the same kind of intimacy and connection then porn is definitely an occasional sex toy to play with, but not a common part of our sex life. If it adds a bit of kink, a laugh, some new ideas, great. But that's about it. Very occasionally I watch porn on my own. Usually gay porn, probably because it oozes masculinity, which is just yum! Meander is right, porn has been around since forever... including very explicit porn. For me, what's changed is the availability and accessibility of it. Anyone with access to the Internet has got porn on tap... you don't have to order it online, go to an adult shop to buy it or raid your parents collection anymore. I agree that 'commercial' porn is mostly not a true reflection of what sex is like IRL, but because its so easy to get hold of and teens are getting into at at very young age, a lot of younger people have unrealistic expectations, and this is what's really changed over the past decade or so. Personally, I enjoy watching porn. But like other posters have said, these days I tend more towards the amateur stuff because its 'real'. If I'm watching a woman cumming, I want to know she really is cumming and not just faking it for the cameras. European stuff is great, and I'm a bit partial to the 'Massage Rooms' series lol. Also, don't bother too much with a story line. I'm watching cause I want to see sex, not very bad acting :). Apart from some of the real amateur stuff, I have gotten to the point whereby it sends me to sleep.What I find disturbing though is some of the violence and demeaning of women by some of the brands out there and as much as I dont like to admit it, I have reservations that some of the younger people cannot distinguish reality from setups in whatever plot it is that they are viewing and attempt it in real life. Yeah some can cope but not many can survive without some form of emotional or health damage.
