How has COVID changed dating??

Oh God yes! Like Perth, Adelaide has got away reasonably lightly touched so far. We haven’t caught up with lifestyle friends or looked for new ones since the start of covid, it’s just one more stress we don’t need at the moment. We’ve met some great people online that get where we’re coming from, so something to look forward to when we’re feeling it again we guess. We’ve avoided chatting to a few we think would be great matches, but we’ve only got so much headspace when the time to actually meet up isn’t all that clear to us. The people we feel really sorry for are those that are single, especially those just out of school, they’re the ones that have really been robbed of lifelong experiences the past year! For the couples amongst us here, it’s just a fun hobby 🤷🏻♂️

Not really. Being in QLD I guess we've been relatively unaffected though.

Well, I went on a date this year in March. Didn't have any last year. Did spend two seperate occasions with individual company in 2019. But that's about the long term average so no, covid hasn't had any effect, a number that is or is close to zero can't be affected much haha :p But I'm not including the assorted "dates" either intimate or non-intimate with a long term couple as my friends. I will say that it's been much harder to even make online conversation with anyone new. During covid and lockdowns, I had hoped people might be more willing given the loneliness and all. But, it might be that distance (from suitors) becomes an even bigger priority (especially with changing travelling restrictions), and/or that more suitors are looking online due to said loneliness, so the ratio has increased thus your individual chances decreased. And/or getting older. Can't really say any which way because one doesn't generally get feedback/data to work with. So it's a waiting game, for real life opportunities in low or no covid or lockdown risk settings, to try and meet more in person again.

Definitely. But was a pattern we were leaning towards before... Don't do randoms.

Well the Victorian model of lockdowns in 2020/2021 has sure been a dampner on anything to do with the lifestyle. During the times we haven't been in lockdown I haven't had the headspace to deal with the whole meet up scenario. Being one who doesn't shag on the first meet means that planning ahead is fraught with challenges. Also, the cognitive capacity is low; work is challenging enough due to COVID without adding this merry go round to it as well! I've managed a few trips to the local swingers club, but for purely social purposes. One day I'll get back on the horse so to speak, but it won't be any time soon.

Despite Queensland being relatively unaffected we've found that there are many couples chatting online but very few committing to meet and actually carrying through with it. We've had to cancel a couple of dates due to lockdowns but otherwise it just seems that swinging has become more of a cyber fantasy than reality.

Before COVID-19 I prefer to meet first play later because of vibes and over coffee I would know if I was or wasn’t going to get physical with them. With lockdowns and cafes and shopping centres being closed I feel so uncomfortable meeting people because I prefer to meet in public when it’s not a ghost town. And I prefer to stick to one person in my bubble lol not play with more than one
