Home Hair Removal Machines

January 02 2012

Just like to put out there some questions I have on Home Hair Removal Machines… I am doing some personal research on Home hair removal , I have never waxed "ouch" is all I can say to that and shaving just shits me . I am looking at buying a home hair removal machine against going to a salon or clinic….I have friends that do both and I have heard mostly good comments but want more info on this and thought this would be the perfect forum to ask my questions ! It's not the price of home compared to salon it’s the convenience of using it at home I like, there are so many out there and i know some are better than others but they all say they are the best ... My questions to you ladies is ….( or gents ) *Do you have a home hair removal machine ? ( laser or IPL ) * If so what type of home devise do you have ? *does it work, are you happy with the results ? look forward to hearing from you .

Shaving doesn't last   Laser is amazing, beautiful finish and the final solution.......it can get expensive for some.........downside, if you have greys it won't work on them. Personally i don't, i heard this from a friend who did so get it done before they show up or you're going to end up a tad patchy. Those creams stink and have all kinds of just plain nasty chemicals which have no intention of allowing to float into my blood stream. Even 24 hours later they stink. If you can peal paint of and melt plastic with something i'd rather it not be on my skin.   I tried my friends rip your hair out machine, i don't like causing myself pain. It's lots more fun if someone else does it.   Personally i love waxing, the upside is you are smooth and lickalicious for a couple of weeks (well, i am)....then you get all scratchy again while you wait for your next wax. Some cute girlie interferes with you, you come out smooth and lovely and your lovers very much appreciate the effort you have gone to on their behalf.   xxGG

I agree with goodgrlzsayplz, chemicals aren't great with the creams sometimes having side effects. Shaving....ugh Waxing doesn't last long for me so I opted to try IPL.   Did some research and found that unless the machines are medical grade the laser isn't strong enough to have a permanent effect.   Treatment usually requires 4-6 goes. It can be painful and you need to use numbing cream and plastic wrap for 45 minutes before the treatment so that it is bearable.   Even after successful treatment they can only guarantee 80% of permanent hair removal because our lovely bodies like to grow new hair folicles.   After 2 sessions I am loving the results and can't wait to reach the end of the process. It takes several months. I think it is worth the discomfort and expense.   Good luck with what you decide to do.

it may be too general for being useful but here I go...All products for example machines and chemicals etc are toned down to make it safer for consumer use...   A pro IPL machine will produce upto 50J/cm2 of energy and will have lot of lamp life..where as in home use lamp life doesn't matter I will be surprised if consumer m/c is even allowed to go up to 10J/cm2..however if you have a dark skin..you can't use high energy anyway nd thus IPL is not for you.   I am not an IPL pro...I am just telling by reading basic science behind ipl (from google)..   just try to go for most powerful m/c u can get!!!

The home ones are not strong enough. You need full on "medical grade" stuff for it to be effective long term

I have recently gone through this process myself..   Waxing is painful and costly; Shaving, time-consuming and ineffective; Creams just stink!   I looked into the home IPL systems, but as I have fair body hair, was advised it would be ineffective.   I ended up buying a 'no!no!' system, cost around $350 for the full kit (inc. the small areas kit, and 5 tips) which is a 1/3rd of the price of the home IPL systems. It uses heat to burn hair away at the surface, but also pentrates the folical, basically retarding its growth. The other thing to consider with IPL is the bulbs they use - They burn out quite quickly and cost almost as much as the original system to replace. The 'thermicon' tip used by the no!no! has roughly 100hrs use and replacements come in a 3-pack for $50.   I've only had it a week and a half now - it says it takes up to 6-8weeks of continuous use to see the full effect, then only needs to be used every 6-8weeks for touch-ups - but so far, I found it simple to use, painless and am already noticing a reduction in my hairs regrowth.   Shall report back in 5-7weeks to let you know how I went! :)   H xx
