I recently heard about the morning after pill that is available overseas, apparently If you indulge in risky behaviour you can take the pill the next morning and it will kill the HIV virus if you contracted it. Apparently it makes you feel quite ill.... But I think some people that are into gang bangs and bukkake, etc would think it was worth it reckon. Occasionally anyway. There are gay/ bisexual clubs that do free testing on the spot for patrons already. :)

We would consider using the rapid HIV testing kit if it was available to us. Although we practice safe sex, for sexual activities, you don't know who your partners may have been with, unprotected. We donate blood every three months & we are tested before we donate the blood, they give you a follow up call a week later to inform you if your blood is free of stds & let you know how many lives you have saved. After completing our full hepatitis vaccines recently, as we are regular travellers interstate/overseas, We were shocked to have been told the vaccines only last 2 years. Those who are into rimming are at huge risk of contacting hepatitis. We were also advised of a huge increase of HIV & people not taking it seriously, you've only got one life!!!

Quoting 'polys' are your partners wearing condoms or are they free willy so to speak? Of course they are wearing condoms. Correct use of condoms reduce though not eliminate the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases. In the literature that we use as physicians to educate patients, we have to tell them that the most reliable ways to avoid transmission of STDs are to abstain from sexual activity or to be in a long-term mutually monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner. However, many infected persons may be unaware of their infections because STDs are often asymptomatic. After saying that I actually think, good luck with that!

It's called post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). The mostly used brand is Truvada. It is 2 tablets taken for 28 days. It costs $1000 per course. Unlike the birth control morning after pill which is just one pop after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. PEP is available in Australia for health care professionals for occupational exposure to HIV like in an accidental needle prick or a blood squirt during surgery and the like. I am unsure about its availability as "morning after" regimen. We can also get free rapid HIV testing from the following locations: http://www.afao.org.au/about-hiv/hiv-test/rapid-hiv-test#.VBzNQVY5GLo Swing party goers should go to one location first prior or maybe I should request them for the service during the RHP parties. Hahaha! Meeka thanks for the insightful comments. As always.

I am quite promiscuous usually so I make sure I get tested every three months when I get my birth control needle and I almost always use condoms. I would hate to infect someone else with something although I have never contracted any STI so hopefully that won't happen but it is in my mind with all the sexual partners . I don't think you can trust others to be honest that they get tested or are clean so I just do what I can to make sure I am safe.

fingers transfer Herpes as does the mouth or even rubbing skin on skin you can have a cock run up and down your cunt lips and a guy is dripping so the chance there is just as risky guys that go from woman to woman, get sick of flicking off that condom, so they may leave that one on in a group situation and you would never know, its dark and crowded in those places, some stick it in without one on its the life of sex, nothing is safe not even if you think your in a sure relationship but all you can do is take a bit of precaution as best you can. I have go go to another doctor to get mine as our family GP would freak apart from the fact that one of our friends works there as a doc as well sometimes. so far so good but you have to ask for a herpes test as part of your test as its not a given they test for that. It is not a notifiable disease like the rest. I got std of a doctor once , at least I got fee antibiotics

We decided once we got into this lifestyle that we would be tested and we are. Not worth the risk.

I thought they lasted 10 yrs? Any professionals out there that can clear that up? Morning after pill - yes I am sure you are correct about the 28 days course. I only heard about it recently being discussed on radio so I probably remembered that bit incorrectly. I know there is some debate in the States that if it does become widely available that this will encourage people to be lax with their sexual health and protection. Had no idea it was that expensive! :O

Had no idea it was that expensive! :O Previous studies showed that Hepatitis B vaccine is effective for 5 to 7 years. New literature says it provides indefinite and possibly life-long protection for immunocompetent individuals. So for them a booster dose is not required. There is a certain population that requires booster doses every 5 years like patients on dialysis, men having sex with men, people with partners or caring for people who are Hepatitis B positive, people in areas with high endemicity and professionals with occupational hazards like nurses and physicians. I am a preventive medical doctor by the way.

That's a very good way to get fee testing while helping others as well. I can't donate blood as I am less than 110 pounds but I would really like to. You are correct. Despite practicing safe sex on your end, you'll never know what other people are exposed to. The Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods has approved one rapid test (official name is point of care test) to be performed by health care professionals but not for self-testing. I have used the FDA approved Oraquick and I like the ease of use. Though it is not ARTG approved.

But I'm sure you wouldn't quibble with the cost if you needed it. Just off topic, 1 of my regular meds is $5000 per month - I'm glad I don't have to fork out the full price for that. Tall

Thanks for clarification on the hep vaccines. It's great we don't have to go back in 2 years to be re-vaccinated. Our gp has a strong accent, we may have interpreted him incorrectly!

Serology blood testing is the only way to find out what your immunization status is for vaccines. Typhoid needs to be done eery three years. Polio should be given as a booster to anyone older than 30. Some people don't convert hep b... so they need frequent boosters and sometimes a double dose course...and immunoglobulin if exposed. - Posted from rhpmobile

I got std of a doctor once , at least I got fee antibiotics The herpes test is a waste of time due to all the false negatives thrown up by any strain of the herpes virus like childhood cold sores etc.The only reliable test is from the sores themselves, in which case it's a bit late !I had a huge scare when someone i'd slept with told me they had tested positive, fortunately my GP is up to speed. Many aren't, the lady who contacted me filed a complaint against her GP as it turns out she was a disapproving Christian with an agenda. The best most easily digestibly source of information I found was family planning. HIV is a killer in the end. Drugs have not been developed yet to cure the disease. Condoms are the only effective way to reduce the risk of contraction. Many people on HIV drugs have a very low blood count of the virus. In fact it can be a negligible reading in some instances. I would like to know how they come with 1 in 7 people in Australia have HIV and do not know it? If people do not know it then how does a research institute know it? HIV is not detected in the first 2 - 4 weeks.........so a test every 3 months means jack shit really. You have to abstain for 6 months to know you are really free from the virus.

Rapid testing is not effective considering the three month window period required for accurate HIV diagnosis. HIV prevalence is 0.20% but there are many other STI's displaying almost epidemic rates of prevalence. Condoms are the most reliable source of protection against STI transmission but you MUST use them correctly. No uncovered genital to genital contact can occur at any stage, expiry dates must be meticulously checked, watch out for long nails when putting condoms on, lubricant should always be used to prevent friction and micro tears and condoms and dental dams must be worn for oral sex (the risk of contracting HIV from oral sex is negligible but you are still at risk of other STI's). If you don't have a dental dam cut a condom down one side and spread it open, it will do just as good a job. Any contact that involves the exchange of blood or sexual fluids puts you at risk. I recommend carrying 4 condoms, one for anal sex, one for vaginal sex, one for male oral and one to create a dental dam. it may sound extreme but STI's can be extreme diseases. Regular screening is important but it won't stop you contracting an STI. If you are going to participate in frequent casual sex you need to protect yourself as much as possible and also accept that you are placing yourself at a higher risk. It's up to the individual to decide on their sexual activities but remember that your actions can place others at risk too. if you require condoms and lubricant and can't afford them please contact me as I supply them free of charge through my blog.

Respect your body and protect yourself properly, Like I said in my other post, if you need condoms contact me and I will supply you with them. You can't trust anyone because half the time the infected person doesn't even know they have an STI. You need to take better care of yourself.

Quoting 'Meeka100' I thought they lasted 10 yrs? Any professionals out there that can clear that up? Heb B, yes, more like 15 I believe. Hep C has no vaccine, but that's mostly transferred bis blood-to-blood contact, not sex.

Quoting 'rhpmd'PEP is available in Australia for health care professionals for occupational exposure to HIV like in an accidental needle prick or a blood squirt during surgery and the like. I am unsure about its availability as "morning after" regimen. I don't think you can get it as a morning after medication, unless the sex was non-consensual.

I disagree. Rapid testing is actually an effective screening tool. Seroconversion of HIV is as early as 2 week to as late as 6 months. Morning after is a street term for PEP. In the US, PEP may be given after unprotected sex. I was in the Philippines testing and providing care to HIV patients and sex workers pro bono.
