I love my motorbike. I wash it and polish it and ride it. However, there are so many people who are better at fixing it.... with the fine calibrations and electronic tuning and what have you... that I just pay them to do it properly and enjoy the ride. Once, I changed my brake pads... I was so excited that I actually managed it that I forgot to tighten up a couple of nuts.... it wasn't such a good feeling however, when the rear wheel locked up... lucky it happened when it did... and taught me a very important lesson... I'm something of an expert in my field and other people are experts in theirs. Do I really save anything trying to do what they do.. or am I better off doing what I do while they do what they do for me?None of that stuff has anything to do with gender differences. If I need an expert... I will buy the best I can afford.HUgsStalky

I work in mining these days, and I am astounded at the number of women doingall kinds of jobs....some even look pretty cute in their steel caps, Hi vis and hard hats.Although some guys can get a little distracted....lolLike wise, when my son was racing moto x , there were quite a few girls and women competing.and some real hotties amongst them too, tromping around the pits in their moto x boots, but when the gates drop they go as hard as the guys.....although they usually have a predeliction for pink riding gear....lol.Of course there is also Leanne Tander....she is a pretty hander steerer as well in motor racing. So yeahhh....go girls.....certainly brightens up male dominated pursuits and occupations, and gives usblokes something to talk about.Cheers Nev

I would be utterly stoked to meet a lady who is as big a petrol head, metal worker and mechanical fixer as I am. How good would that be.The only problem I have is............where are you all?

I remember the first time I went into an old girlfriends room and she had a big dual suspension downhill mountain bike setup on the trainer... HOT!

Really...I think that whatever it is that a woman wants to pursue is a matter of choice and not a "turn on" or "turn off". If she happens to be a Ninja and can give me a whack...I will mind my manners or pretend I am mortally wounded anyway. Have to say I have a preference for nice lumpy racing leathers over those boring old jackets the guys wear too...and hitting the silks can take on a whole new meaning. | I guess if she doesn't mind that I might just periodically take over the kitchen and dominate that space...she can go out and rotate my distributor and gap my plugs until the entre' is ready any old day. | Besides...washing up before dinner can be fun!

When my father was trying to teach me Mechanics 101...apart from changing a tyre, checking oil and water I am clueless as to what is what under the hood...thnk god these new cars have the nice bright coolurs on the parts that need to be checked regularly... But he did teach me all about his other passion - Firearms...and I am passionate about it too...no Hunting, just Rifle and Shotgun Target shooting...and have never had a problem with any of the men that I have competed against...in fact when I first took up the sport i was overwhelmed with offers to try out their Shotgun...maybe that was a bit Phallic lol... Nothin' says fun like an U/O Shotgun...

because guys like seeing a girl handle their tools better than they can, and of course it means less hard yakka for them.... why change a tyre/fix a tap/repair the lawnmower when your missus can do it??? lol!BUT.... then they feel all sooky & emasculated because they are not longer the essential & macho man of the house.... bahahaha!

(what happened to my post?)I think guys love a girl who knows her away around his tools, but then again, men also love a capable women because this means less work for them.... ie why fix the tap/change the car tyre/rebuild the mower when your missus can already do it?? lol!Funnily enough, most of the time this novelty wears off and the guy complains that he is left feeling unappreciated and emasculated.... bahahaha!

Conrods? Forged pistons? What are THOSE??? *smiles and rolls eyes*Well I guess I'll be the first guy here that says I don't like it. We guys SHOULD be the only ones who know how to fix the car/mow the lawn/change a lightbulb/etc. Thats our gift! Women definitely shouldn't emasculate us guys by being independent in that way!! ....In truth. Actually, I think it's great. Just like 100% of the other decent and self secure guys on the planet. I just felt the other side of the argument being left out...

Obviously I am not a man... but geez I have some respect for some of my girlfriends and their more 'male' pursuits. I have a girlfriend who races cars (on tracks) and flies helicopters, another gf who builds boats and has the most impressive shed full of tools she knows how to use, another gf who can sail a yacht, she also flies light aircraft and single-handedly project managed the demolition/renovation of her flood inundated apartment and did half the work herself.... yanno, really strong and capable women. Surely these are qualities that men would admire in their woman in some way? xxS

KD, I also think guys really should know more about that kind of thing... and I believe a smart man wouldnt be emasculated by a woman who is capable.... but, I was being the 'devils advocate' on this one... unfortunaltey there are guys out there (and girls on the flip side) who are like what I described.... its a shame huh Quoting 'KD7884' Conrods? I personally know my way around any car, mower, or any other supposed "male thing" there is. I also know my way around a kitchen, how to clean a bathroom, and can iron the hell out of a shirt (with guided help...!). Do I feel emasculated? Hell no. Never. It was meant to be a light hearted joke...

I presume you have a twist mount turbo set up, which turbo are you running and what boost are you running to get that amount of kws? And is that at the wheels? My classic WRX is stock standard except for exhaust and 18" rims. I wont be taking on the track until June but have done a few skidpans and it goes well.

Hi miss will be best friends now lol 2.5ltr which now probably now 2.7ltr external set up bottom end finish all forges just waiting on the heads to be machined dont know what cams I'm gonna run cause I change the set up again might go 272for cams which I was running 252 which now I gotta get more head work done. Running a 35/40 at 25psi everyday but I got a t66 but that's a massive turbo for rexys to much lag so I might sell the t66 I got a vf22 or 34 sti turbo cant remember what it was but if looking let me know.

not to derail the thrad completely but have you considered the new Borg Warner EFR series, Full Race is doing a lot of work with them. I'm a 2JZ guy, but as for four bangers I know that the Sierra Sierra time attack Evo has had excellent results from switching to EFR - an increase in power and a reduction in lag. Before you ditch the T66, if you can get a twin scroll housing you could try a Quick Spool Valve from Sound Performance Racing. They make them in T3 size and up - it is essentially just a butterfly to block off one scroll of the turbine housing until you hit the desired point to open to use both scrolls. I'll be running them on my twin GT3076R setup so I can spool up a bit earlier.

Hi sydboy thanks for the comment well it's come up but not really sure as always depends on how deep my pockets are lol I might set it up like this and see how it goes as for the t66 il never get rid of it lol anyways we should all go for a Cruz when cars are ready........redhotpie Cruz lmfao alters.

There are three women drivers in IndyCar racing in America, all three are very competitive.I showed a female friend how to change the oil on her car the other day.I have female friends who enjoy hardcore mountain biking. It makes me uncomfortable to point it out as if it's the 1950s. It's just everyday life really, sexy sexy life. There are lots of things that are sexy when women do them, for example:. Buying a can of soft drink from a vending machine. Standing on one foot. Well, anything at all really. But I do take your point - I once saw a woman get out of her EH Holden at the lights with a tyre-lever, pop the hood, and tap the coil(?) so she could re-start the stalled car. Was damn sexy and funnily enough I've never forgotten it. So yes, there's something in it.Correspondingly, it is sort of unsexy when women (and man) have a "If I turn the key and it doesn't start, then it's broken" sort of mentality. It shows a lack of interest in things, and a lack of interest in things is an unsexy trait.Basically for me, when women are passionate about what they do, that makes a sexy woman in my opinion.

As Stalky points out, some are good at some things, others are good at other things. BUT, what if society penalises one but condones and praises the other?
