Furries

June 27 2010

Just curious, are there any Furries here on RHP? I'm not one myself, but I've noticed that there are one or two Furry cons starting to appear in Australia, so apparently it's catching on here. I must admit that I do like some Furry porn: a lot of it is fairly ridiculous, but there is some stuff that's quite good (an artist called Meesh is one I particularly like). It's a fascinating subculture, anyway.

I saw Furries at the Mardi Gras on television this year for the first time (Sydney) and almost had to reach for the Tena Ladies!! Furries are people who dress up in costumes (bears or coyotes or whatever other furry animals there are) and they have sex with these costumes on. While this is the main trend that is hitting Australia, Furries can also be people that dress as their favourite cartoon character from childhood (puts another spin on Yogi Bear's catch cry "Boo Boo...There is a sausage in my pic-a-nic basket"), all this with the outfits on and full makeup! That is all I know without googling lol.... xFunlovingx

Yeah, furries are fans of anthropomorphic fictional animal characters - in other words, animals that walk, talk, etc. There's this huge subculture, especially overseas it seems. Most of them seem to be just fans, but there are also the more extreme characters who like to dress up as animals - but from what I understand, they're very much a minority. The fursuiters as they're called got a bad rap when they were featured on an episode of 'CSI'. Then there is, of course, the notorious furry porn. Some of it's quite good, like the artist I mentioned, who basically make erotic comics with furry characters (imagine an adult version of most cartoons), but a lot of it's just crap and some of it's ... weird. Like Japanese animated porn, only weirder. As I said, I'm just curious if there's any on here, as the subculture seems to be becoming more popular in Aus, judging by some stories in the Age etc. about a convention in Melbourne. It seems to be particularly popular with gay man, but I have no idea why.

I know a hand full of Furries here in Melb. see them out and about at the clubs some times. There is a very cute and cuddly tiger and at one of the events I went to last month there was also a cut little dog too. It was so cute when the dog came bouncing up to the tiger who just stood there stunned for a second to see another furry and the club.

Furries are people who dress up in animal suits and well...have sex.I'm not sure if that's technically what the fetish is about, or if there is way more to it. All I know is that I've seen a short video of furry porn and it was ridiculous.Cheers,Z

We have a Furbee(Furby) in the house that when you touch it's tongue is says "yummm" and if you throw it around it says "whooah" and when in the dark says "No Light". I guess it looks kinda like what you are referring to - a fuzzball.

There is a furry subculture alive and well in Sydney and Melb. Not sure if they're on RHP though. Mainly gay guys that I know of although I do know one girl furry.

It takes all types to make the world spin. I've known a few furries, though I know of none on RHP. I don't see anything odd with enjoying a 'fursona'. Just another kink in the fascinating web of sexual exploration. I just want to know if dressing up as a Smurf counts as being a furry.

MzE73, I agree, they are kind of cute. There's a sort of childlike make-believe about it. The fursuiters - who as I understand it, are a minority - go to enourmous lengths with their outfits. I had one online friend who was a furry, he was making a horse outfit. He was doing some seriously heavy-duty engineering on leg extensions (he was going to end up nearly 7 ft tall apparently) and articulating the facial features. That's dedication. From what I've seen on the net, a lot of Furries are a bit pissed off about the common conception that they are just people who dress up as animals and have sex. Apparently very few of them actually do that. Like The_Last_76 said, it's all part of humanity's rich & varied tapestry ... it's easy enough to make fun of 'freaks', but as Mick Thomas pointed out in his song, 'The lonely goth in the country town', it takes a special kind of bravery to be so 'out there'. Tell you what, though, jj & kev, if you think Furries are odd, you ought to google 'plushies'. Now *that* fair made my jaw drop! :)
