I learnt this tip working up the snow and its proven invaluable! Treat the injured area as you would a sprain....eg : ice it. If it is a sprain it will go cold/numb and you will feel relief. If it is a fracture/break , after about 5 minutes you will experience intense pain in the affected area.

NOthign too visable except on area that one doctor claims might be a fracture.. but yeah.. no confirmation yet.. But thanks for your reply! Waggy83

Never broken a bone but i've dislocated both knees and both shoulders. One at a time, of course. still hurts like a bitch tho PS a broken bone is a fracture, it's the same thing, just common term vs medical term.

Broke my ankle when I was about 10. I was playing commandoes with the boys (no, not going with out underwear) Part of our course was to jump off the garage roof. I made it twice but on the third time, landed wrong. But all was not lost, I hired my crutches out for 20cents a go during lunch break at school. I broke my cheek bone, the socket under my eye and a bone in my hand when iin my early 20's. Well I didnt break them, they were sustained in a physical attack. I got smacked in the face with a hunk of wood. Then in my late 20's I cracked a rib running down the shearing shed board and collided with the wooden corner of the wool table.

just realised i was being a bit self indulgent. hope ur ankle isnt broken. crutches suck ass. even if u did break it, it could be worse...think of the other bone ur famous for, and imagine what a bummer it would be if u broke that.

I broke my right ankle when pissed and dancing to Midnight Oil in 4" stiletto's lol. I was so drunk that they took me to the hospital and as soon as I got the cast on I went out clubbing again! People wanted to sign it...but it was still wet haha! But OMG when I sobered up...the pain was so unbearable...I wanted to be put to sleep forever! < Have also broken my little toe on my right foot and OMG it is amazing how that little thing brings such pain and how you can't walk properly...who would have thought that a little toe can have so much effect on how you walk...Oh yeah, was pissed again when I did that too! < Luckily I don't drink anymore...so touch wood!! xFunlovingx

If they are finding it hard to work out what it is if it is swollen...be careful...as that happened to a friend of mine (finger) and they had to operate on his finger and insert rods as the break was found pretty late! And they had to re-break my daughters wrist when she did hers as they didn't find it in the beginning either! < Good luck with it! xFunlovingx

Officially, I've never broken a bone.Unofficially, I'm indestructible.I did sprain my ankle pretty badly though, then did it a few more times after that and that was good for 3 operations in the end.

I blame the high heels and not the vodka...but i went over on my ankle...and it swelled up like a mofo...couple days later...had xrays...nothin.So I hobbled around on this ankle for a monthbefore I went back to the doc and told him it was still killing me.Had a bone scan...and yep....Busted!Seems the swelling had been holding the bone together.Took nearly 2 years for it to come back to nearly 100%So get your doc to get you a bone scan. Then you'll know for sure.JMO...BJxxx

Broken arm, hand, ribs, toe all at different times.Had an X jumping around ridding me cowgirl once and my penis got bent and made a snapping noise. Bruised and had an obvious kink in it for some months but it sorted itself out. Lucky or I could have been kinky for life.

My ankle was crushed when I was 18 months old. I'd only just learned to walk too. And I broke a toe running into a wall on a train as a teenager. It still looks funny. . Hope your ankle heals fast :-)

I broke my left ankle running after a mob of cattle. Didn't see the post hole that had no post in it and *snap* My husband heard it break and he was about 25 metres away. So of course I"m laying there screaming, and the dog rushes over to see what was wrong with the boss, I screamed "sit" at him, which he promptly did.... on the ankle! I was 31 when that happened, first broken bone. Snapped the tendon in the same ankle 5 years later. Personally I love crutches, I've just now returned from hospital and dearly wish I had some. VB

*I tripped over a train when I was 8 and broke my arm near the elbow and where the arm connects to the shoulder socket.About 4 years ago I was seeing how many pushups I could do in 3 minutes (you know.. as you do... showing off to the boys at the gym)... and I hear this crunchy sound. MRI reveals a partial tear where one of the muscles connects to my shoulder.. x-ray reveals arthritis in the shoulder where the old break occurred... therefore the partial tear cannot be reciified without a plastic shoulder reconstruction. Don't use it.. says the surgeon... because a shoulder reconstruction is only good for around 15 years and you can't have two. That pissed me off a lot... .no bench press.. revised training routine... no freestyle or backstroke..... nurturing the shoulder now for the last 4 years.... it's unstable because a part of the shoulder bone broke away..Anyway... my dick still works.HugsS

That reads really badly doesn't it waggy? "I love crutches"... hmmm. What I meant to say, for the filthy minded out there, was that I find walking aids, so named crutches, very useful. Firstly for the purpose for which I currently need them for, i.e walking aid (really really f*cked my foot and leg up and the swelling is impressive), and secondly for beating cheeky youngsters about their earholes ( just cause I'm a little old lady and occasionally I feel the urge to beat some sense into the younger generation.) Now where did I leave me teefs? VB

I haven't yet had a full break, I did get my foot cracked blocking a shot in sport (just laced the boots up extra tight and played the rest of the tournament that week) - I thought it was just bruising, but when the physio did the ultrasound therapy it made the cracked bone ends vibrate against itself. Wasn't very pleasant, but thankfully didn't need a cast. The times I had casts as precautions, the X-ray showed no breaks so off they came.

Riding a motorcross bike i hit a tree and snapped my femur, knee cap, and a spiral fracture down my shin.. fully fucked the bike never to go again, it bent like a bananna. It took a while to get over and still today sometimes even walk with a bit of a limp and got some gnarly scares to show for my time in prison..i mean hospital... For all those out there that say they've never broken anything, YOU BETTER TOUCH WOOD, i forgot to.lol

Fractured, cracked & broken ribs, broken nose, fractured shin, broken fingers and toes, hand bones messed up by a dog, right index finger almost cut off and a fractured skull. Mostly from farm work as a kid, stupidity as a teen, and a bit of everything as an adult. Most of the specifics behind my scars and injuries sound pretty messed up (hatchets, knives and claw hammers) but its all just innocent mistakes and a good amount of bad luck.
