Favourite OZ songs

January 27 2013

Saw the Hottest 100 thread and thought seeing that it is Australia Day weekend I should pay homage to my favourite Oz songs.   1. Flame trees - Cold Chisel. Love the sense of longing for things you've left behind. The harmonies building to a crescendo at the end get me every time. 2. Back In Black - ACDC. What can I say, it is the sort of song that you get speeding tickets to if you know what I mean. 3. Nosebleed Section - Hilltop Hoods You have to hear this live. It is definitely one of the best live songs I have heard. As the Hoods say..."makes the room bounce like bedsprings on a honeymoon".   Love to hear everyone thoughts!

One of my favourite bands is "You Am I" and i think my favourite song is "Purple Sneekers".. But "if i'm in the right mood "Heavy Heart" is a close second.Watching Perth bad "The Chemist" perform "Spaypaint or Praise" (google and listen people) live is a $5 revelation you can't beet. Ben Whitts guitar riff is crazy in it.Another Perth band that constantly put songs in my head is "Umpire". Their song "Streamers" won WAMI song of the year a few years back and quite deservedly. (Another google dare?)But for lyrical brilliance.. I love James Teauge's song "11:11pm"...............I'm changing my sheets girl,These ones smell of someone else,But don't fret,She's just a memory that won't rest. And i will let you down over and over,I will break you over and over..... and so on ...6 minutes of bitter angry story telling. google that too.DJ engine.
