Fake names?

Hi everyone, We recently met a couple on RHP and started exchanging messages and emails and pictures, and then chatting on the phone. They gave us their names, lets just say they called themselves Jack and Jill. We eventually arranged to all meet up and have a drink to test the chemistry. We all got along well and agreed that we'd all meet up again with the view to play. Some short time later we get a call from Jack and Jill to check that we're still interested and confirm that they're still interested, and during the course of the conversation they casually mention that Jack and Jill aren't their real names, and in fact they are, say Bob and Betty!! I understand that we all have our nom de plume's that we use when we're on these sites and chatting etc, and if things go well when exchanging messages/emails you eventually start using your proper names, but I never expected that those proper names would be fake. To me, it just seems a bit odd; I've never even considered using a fake real name. My name is part of my identity and who I am. I understand that some people need anonymity, but surely once you've met in the flesh that horse has well and truly bolted? Have others found this to be common practice?

We have occasionally come across couples using false names from time to time and while a bit odd, I kinda understand where they are coming from. If you have very distinctive real names and are a little wary of being identified on RHP, it's not a bad thing to use a false name until they feel comfortable with the people they are in contact with. At the end of the day tho I think we're all on here for the same reason so if you come across someone you know, no biggie lol. Maybe some people enjoy the fantasy aspect of using another name? I know of a couple where the girl has used a false name and I only found out a year after meeting her... I still refer to her by her play name LOL

I met a person here that obviously has a user name and then a fake name that is used in person. Suffice to say that professional people can be very easy to trace if they use their real names. I don't see any harm in it. The person I met, I forgot the real name when told to me and still use the fake one.. lol... but then I am nearly 50 :p

We do understand fully this trend as nowadays, privacy is quite challenging to uphold. So using fakes names is quite normal. We have found that it is very common in fact amongst the members we have met and that it is only after it has been ascertained that the people involved trust each others, that they reveal their true first names. We do not see any harm in this at all. We actually think it is a rather sensible thing to do, especially if you are a public figure at work. S & S

It's just a bit of fun. Do names matter so much!? I'd just be glad they told me the truth in the end... But I guess it comes down to what you are seeking I guess.

I don't see a problem with people using differant names if they wish, we only ever give out our first names and say we are from Perth which is a big place we could give the suburb but don't like to, a bit like using a false name i surpose.

We keep our real names to ourselves until we are sure we want the new player/s to know. Until then its Venus and Mars which is obviously an alias so we are hiding nothing. Mars

We acyaully use our middle names until we are comfy with who we are meeting. Our reasons are simple. Our work, Our Sporting involvement and teh Charity in which we raise a lot of momeny for. Yes we have Bumped into peopel we actually know away from RHP who also play and it has lead us NOT to meet with those peole (to each their own) and therefore NOT to meet as we do not want friends knowing what we do behind close doors (or in the park) T and A

yes we've found couples weve met from here or at clubs that have given us "fake names" and then to later advise us of their real names. i'm puzzled by this as well same as not having face pics in the private gallery - dont they know we want to see what you look like - especially us girls! so over genital pics and obscure body parts!! kxx

We met a couple who introduced themselves as one set of names but later in the evening when they did not respond to their "names" they confused but she had a very unusual name and his was not common either so in that case it made sense.

Hi City we do not post face pics any longer as we discovered that computer nerds can download, we found out that a guys was sending ours face pics around, That is another reason why we use our middle names also, Once we are comfy with who we meet we quickly disclose our real names T and A

It seems good internet-realworld security to me. Alternate name, number and e-mail address. It's nice to meet and make great friends across the world wide web, but it's not-so-nice when those great friends turn to great enemies. Never be afraid to have a buffer between yourself and the internet. You can always get around it if you feel it is safe to do so.

We use fake names for initial contact.Why? Because even just using one of our first names, it comes up with EVERYTHING in google. Its bad enough when someone recognises us from our work, via the photos or at a meet and greet. So, we use Nikki and Lita (reoar!!).When we meet, we explain it all. Lots of people do it. Better than, err, FAKE PHOTOS.Not as cool as FAKE BOOBS though..

If people want to use fake names it doesn't really bother us..so long as they know what they're calling themselves & don't start chopping & changing mid play..that could get confusing LOL!! We use our real names,ages & photos..what you see is what you get! All our 'muggles' friends know what we do..and most work mates...so we have nothing to hide. If they have a problem with it..it's their problem..not ours LOL...but to date..everyone accepts it..so it's all cool."Nikki & Lita" hey Rockercouple....you know, we're probably the only people on RHP who "get it" LOL

Maybe Shannon_Gene! << geneWe've had a few people recognise our "suckin' aint fuckin'" tag line, so there is a GLIMMER of hope for the rest of the members :) We aint holding our breath though. Too many brainless twats that have had their heads pounded with doof doof doof doof doof doof...We actually rewrote our profile to include a lyric on every line that represented us, but the admin obviously didn't like all the innuendo etc and it got kulled. Haha..Nikki & Lita.... yeah maybe we should go for Gene & Shannon. Suckin ain't Fuckin huh...& Eatin' ain't Cheatin'....a little bit of Steel Panther.....seeing them again in May. The doof doofers have a lot to answer for in this world LOLBetwwen you guys & us...we could create the ultimate good time swingers venue!!

May?? Rocklahoma?!??! We didnt really like the line up this year :(USA in June for us, but I dont think they (SP) will be in LA this time around. Oh well, seen them 5 times now, so not too worried. Love their show. The guys are great people off stage too.Tickets obtained for: Cinderella, Scorpions, Bang Tango, Kix, Warrant, Trixter, Vince Neil, ZO2, Winger, LA Guns and a few more. We do the LA thing every year, never get sick of that place.

Not doing ROCKLAHOMA...have a friend who got tix before final line-up was announced...he's not real impressed now either but is going anyway. Wow... you'll be seeing some cool shows!! LA is just so happening....love it!!
