Drinks nights...why dont people show up?

I am intrigued & curious as to why many men & women indicate their interest and dont show? From reading reading other posts I am aware this doesnt just happen with Meet & Greet nights but many other types of group get togethers as well. I have made some fantastic new friends (non-sexual) at the Melbourne nights and I am just a little bit over reading about folk on here bemoaning the fact they dont to get meet anyone, yet they dont rockup to these fun evenings. Now I am fully aware of many reasons why people intended to come but at the last minute...eg: evilboys attack of elephantitis, work commitments, expensive plane fares, baby sitters, last minute life in general hiccups. I am not talking about those problems..... Is it because they are shy? Are they all talk & no action? Are they worried they are going to run into a few people they have played with? This seems to apply to both male & female, though women appear to be more courageous. Borrowing the wonderful words of Pauline Hanson......."please explain" I would love to hear what you all have to say .........

they like to put there interests down to all events and never show :Pseems like they r outgoing lol! ITS ALL A SHOW! for a no show'er! I really only seem to have one person in mind though at the moment lol

its just mathematics to me.i looked at the melb drinks night list.about 4 single women, 6 couples and 30 males.not my idea of an intersting social mix.definitely a girl's wet dream but i have no interest in competing with other men for a woman's attention.more girls, less guys is the answer to the low standards on this site.

Are you on here trying to raise our standards sugar? Personally, if it is an out of town drinks night (and from here, they all are) anything can happen between when I register my interest and the time comes for the night. Which is what happened at the Melbourne drinks night. I wanted to go but work just got in the way. For those of you who do not know much about me, my work is 24 / 7. I dont get to knock off on friday afternoon for the weekend. Infact that is when my work load increases.

As it was there were 5 single women and 1 single man Looks like great odds to me Mark :) A huge big thanks goes to the organisers of these events all around Australia who put themselves out to make these work, in some instances pay dollars over to the venue in the hope we will all turn up.. They are always great social activities ... Sassy...

You only go to a "Social Night" to compete and to pick up? What happened to just meeting people as friends? What happened to going to one of these nights to just have fun and enjoy yourself? These are "Meet and Greet" nights Mark...NOT Swingers nights!! xFunlovingx

sassy - you're ruining it, stop mentioning the good numbers :) - the sydney drinks night was fairly evenly matched, girls slightly outnumbering guys, but as a selfish person those favourable ratios are something I'm happy to keep on the quiet :)mark1iron - the 'interested' stats never seem very representative of who goes to these things.
