nope not a man, not English, not 40 but yep! I have a collection of 'stuff'. Mine is the Anchor Hocking / Fire King Peach Lustre Swirl/Shell Pattern (mostly, with a few select pieces of Laurel, Bubble and Harlequin thrown in) 1965-1976, dinner settings and cookware. It has its own little corner of my lounge room and with 8 pieces having arrived today I am thinking I may need a larger display stand...hmmmmmm... And though I am bi and missing a few pieces for the collection it is definately well on its way to be much more than half a collection. Kisses Focus

... i had an awesome collection of lego and marbles, i've also lived in 185 different houses and 272 different suburb's whilst growing up... so, some lucky kids now own the above mentioned items, or there still unclaimed in the garden somewhere. As i grew older, lego and marbles turned to wine... but that didn't last long. Did you know 90% of people that buy wine drink it in the first week, i was hoping to be in the 10% that put it in their cellar. I do have a nice collection of unopened boxes of basketball cards though... some around 25yrs old. I'll probably sell them one day and stock up that cellar

I have farrrr too much stuff.I think it breeds on shelves in boxes,in the garage, the shed.Twenty-two years ago when I first came to Queensland I arrived with two suit-cases,a golf umbrella and a six year old child. That was so liberating.x Hugs Hesione sans golf umbrella

Vintage furs. Coats, jackets, stoles. I keep some of them at home during winter but I store them at my furrier during summer. Divine collection!!!! And red wine. Coodi, it is hard not to knock the top off a great red just because! Easier to collect if the merchant does home visits. You can really take your time in selecting. I have a lovely 2008 Merlot from the House of Pieroth starring at me right now!!

Its either been bought or given to me but I require a garage to store it all in.... It's getting a bit silly really but then again, I still use everything except the gear that's classed as memorabilia....sadly, no cocks there though.

I collect children. They gravitate towards me, wander in off the street, get dropped off by parents and dont want to leave. Various government agencied bring them to me. Hell some of them have parents that were kids I collected over the years, and now they drop thier own kids off for me to collect. . I collect memories. Good, bad, indifferent and each one uniquely mine. . Every evening I wander down my back yard and collect the eggs that my six gorgeous feathered girls have laid for me. . I collect depression glass. Like Lost Focus, mine is Anchor Hocking but I have forrest green and royal ruby. Mine comes from 1940's. Whole dinner sets, Amazing glasses, cute little square teacups.

Well, I do have other weaknesses... men would be one of them...But I seem to be collecting books, I love them. I love reading them, recommending them to my friends, rereading them, using them as decoration in my house. My books are arranged by colour rather than subject or author. It's quite a little obsession. I can't imagine getting a kindle or ebook reader, I love browsing bookstores and the tangible aspect of real books. And somewhat sadly, I am contemplating selling my entire collection...

I get obsessed with my collections, and my possessions keep piling up and up. I can't have just one, I have to have the whole set. I've done all the usual geeky paraphernalia, but my latest obsession has been my most expensive to date: single malt whiskies. Talk about writing cheques that my arse can't cash! I worked out I've laid down a couple of grand over the past year on about 20 choice bottles. I've been collecting an impressive credit card debt to go with them, too. Now I really need to start collecting a higher income...

Who are my treasures. They store themselves , do not clutter up my house to much. I have had more than enough stuff in my life, and no longer keep stuff around , even books I read and give away except for my art books I love my kindle , its great to travel with. Over the years I have given away my stuff, my girls have all my jewellery My huge collection of books gone to friends or charity I travel light now, stuff just holds you back in life. just been to the USA with a guy who is a multi millionaire and has cars stacked in garages does not even drive them, except for his truck and one other , what a waste. When so few have so much and so many have so little.

Dont sell ( unless you are selling to someone equally devoted) !!! I can so relate to your book fetish..I adore books too..and love spending hours and hours browsing them.... Borders used to be my Sat nite hang out complete with a hot choccky and a chance to puruse all the latest books, lvoe the touch, feel smell of a new book....heaven.....the perfect gift to me was a book voucher.. However I did cave into a Kindle..for many reasons. I can carry 3000 books at a time - now theres a wet dream... E books are so much cheaper to purchase...the Kindle is so lite weight and tiny to carry....I can be any where on earth and purchase the latest release - ( I get agitated if I dont have a book to read - stress levels go up the moment I finish one book and havent got another to start on immediately) but true nothing quite beats a new hardcover, but Kindle is convenient...I hope someone really appreciates your collection if selling is the way to go :(

There are a few amazing second hand bookstores down here in Hobart and I'm looking at typing up a list of my collection and seeing what they would be interested in.While I don't want to sell my collection, there are some real goodies in there; I'm planning to move later this year and the shipping is ridicious so I'm actually selling everything. All my worldly possessions except my clothes, I shall be parting with.

Im a bit of a collecta-holick. I used to be a motorsport mechanic in Europe a long time ago, so any old European motorsport videos that I find at garage sales are not around long if I have my wallet on me. Tools. Well I am a man. Books. I love my books. Greyeyes dont sell them, part of you will go missing if you sell your books!

Well at least you have the option to be able to sell your book collection as I doubt that you can sell your storys off your ebook. Then again if you had a ebook you wouldn't have to sell your collection maybe!

Wine (red) and "stickies", especially muscats, vintage ports, botrytis tokays and such. (I think I need to live closer to Rutherglen).Fortunately I tend to stash them where I cannot get to them readily. So I'm like the proverbial in a sweet shop when I do raid the stash.

I did regret selling all my reference books,my Oxford Companions and some art books,so my advice is keep the ones that are hard to replace. All the rest is nothing but stuff and ridding yourself of it is liberating....must now take my own advice , I am however in love with my Shorter Oxford.Good luck with your move and next adventure

Thanks for the compliment on the new profile pic.I am looking forward to travelling light for a while, it feels liberating to think that I will have no 'stuff'. Scary but liberating.I've been thinking about what Hesione said; the books that can't be replaced or that have special meaning. I can vividly recall where every single book I own came from, either who bought it for me or where I bought it - exactly how it came into my life. But there is only one book that is irreplaceable (and out of print too) and I won't be selling that one.I'll consider the kindle but it hurts my soul a little to think about it. Maybe I'll just frequent libraries everywhere I go...@Fbomb I hope I stay intact after selling my books. It's a sad thing to do but necessary.@get_ready Very salient points my friend

I dont consider my assortment (3 book cases) of books a collection but a necessity. When I moved from the Gold Coast to Sydney they came too. I have contemplated selling them but for some reason I just cant do it. I love them. I re read them over and over again and I just can not bring myself to buying a kindle. I love that smell of a brand new book, the feel of the paper, the weight of it on my chest if I have fallen asleep while reading it at night (happens way too often). Mmmmmm books....must go to the bookstore on the weekend think I need a new author to read. Kisses Focus

Hit post your comment for no apparent reason other than being blonde I guess .... Lol I too have a collection of mobile phone chargers with the added bonus of finding old phones randomly throughout my things at any given time ..... Computer cords and gadgets in abundance in this household - have no idea how I got so many - perhaps it has something to do with my need to upgrade my technology every six months Clothing handbags and shoes also breed in my house - to the point of I have a massive games room full on top of all the wardrobes being full ....... Ahhhhhh retail therapy to blame there

I have a massive collection of old video games and consoles stashed away, all of them in mint to good condition. The games themselves range from my first console, the Sega Master System, to the Super Nintendo, Sega Mega Drive and all the way up to the PlayStation. I bought most of the games second-hand to save on costs and at bargain prices too, usually around $10 each, over a period of 15 years and just amassed them over time. My only regret is not having a NES, the old, original Nintendo console, as it's considered the Holy Grail of video gaming, but I can live with that. Currently I have a PS2 and don't intend to upgrade to any of the newer, current consoles, as I'm just not interested. I find past gaming much more fun and engaging than the present. It's the old games that really were the best compared to now. They still are. These days, I collect rare and obscure B movies on videocassettes and DVD. Yes, I still own a VCR and you read right, your eyes do not decieve you. I prefer a movie than a video game these days. I also have my old comic book collection when I was a kid, my entire magazine collection dating back to when I was 13, my music CD collection, numerous books and novels and my first computer, the MSX. Oh, and I also have a 1968 Ford Mustang fastback in the garage which I rebuilt and restored with my Dad 12 years ago. I eventually won it off my Dad a few years ago in a game of chess. I only drive it several times each year. However, nothing's for sale. I refuse to sell anything of mine, because it's mine. I bloody damn well know nobody's going to take care of anything that's mine like the way I do. It's what I live for.

@professorial - recommend you some books hey? Well, I've read a lot of good stuff from Cormac McCarthy, to Kafka, to Tim Harford, to John Irving, to Johnathan Franzen, to Milan Kundera... I could go on and on here. But here's my dirty secret pleasure reading... Ken Follett. I get lost in the characters he creates and the pace of his books. Some of them are airport novels (ok, maybe most of them), but I'm addicted to them nonetheless.I also kept all of my uni text books because I couldn't bear to part with them...I'm getting rid of them all because I'm relocating later in the year :(@LRE - My view on life is that there will always be someone better looking than me out there, so while appearance is important I much prefer to have brains and be a good person.

I collect percussion instruments, mainly drums, but also many other strange and exotic music makers from around the world. Vinyl LPs, yes I have about 300 of those in boxes under the stairs - really must get the turntable working again! I also have a few books - for a while there it was mountaineering and other adventure tales of suffering, hardship and triumph - inspiring stuff! These days mostly biographies of rock n rollers and musos. AND I still have my collection of 1970s plastic cowboys and indians along with the fort, saloon, stage coach, etc. I have also accumulated a small collection of cool retro psychedilic shirts from op shops over the years... Shit! It appears I have a collection of collections!!?

I collect recipes. I have a love of cooking and especially old hand-me-down recipes. I have a number of my grandmother's (and friend's grandmothers) traditional recipes, like biscuits, roasts, cakes etc. I even have my grandfather's grandmother's own lemon meringue pie recipe (which is beautiful!). It's a little bit of traditional history that I fear will be lost in the modern world if no-one takes the time to look after them. It's also really fun sometimes to make the recipes in the traditional way, without electrical conveniences. - Ms Otori.
