Yes! I definitely have! And I am so glad I opened their profile! The lesson here: Don't discount anyone or any notion at surface level. If you do make that mistake, you may well miss an opportunity to open your mind, or even better still, blow your mind! And this is the beauty of human nature at work... I love these forums for both their subject matter and their participants.

I found the Rugged One's comments recently and had to check him out...I mean I think that pic is so sexy... I often check someone out and comment if I enjoy reading their comments or contributions to RHP. Affirmation is nice if you like what someone says...but then, maybe I'm just a nuisance letting them know!!! xxILTS

And it has worked in both directions for myself..... Curiosity has gotten the better of me and i have message people from the forums based on their responses to particular posts despite location....New friends can be found in the strangest places.... I have also re-evaluated my opinion of someone due to comments or opinions shared in Forum posts .....as they Sometimes differ from the impression one gets from reading a profile

are a good insight into peoples intellect, humour and intelligence and all round persona, and these are the qualities that excite me the most, so yes i have come across people in the forums who i would definitely like to know better on any level, and of course the inverse is also true. Cheers Nev.....not naming names...so don't ask!

I rarely contact people full stop, lol... probably why my inbox is always empty. But I agree that reading what people have to say here gives a bit more of an insight into their personality and the type or person/people they are. A profile is hard to write in a way that you don't want to come across as "up yourself" or "egotystical", especially for us guys anyway. What annoys the hell outta me is the "Ask Me" style profiles, I mean how are you supposed to make any sense of what a person is like with a profile like that... so you do the "Ask Me" thing and never get a reply, lol... so the fourms and the chat are good avenues to understand the people a little better. I'll admit I've checked out people's profiles after reading what they have written, and also avoided some, and some I enjoy what they have to say so I have added them to my hot list so I get notification when their posts have been placed. Rugged - great topic! The forums is the only reason I still log onto RHP now. I have made some wonderful friends from the forums (you know who you are - thank you) and also mentally put a cross through one or several as 'never to contact and resist even posting on a thread of theirs' lolThere are definitely some I would love to meet simply because they seem to be on the same intellectual wavelength as me and I know the conversation would flow freely and lots of laughs would be had.Oh Fab, be wary of stating you want a profile picture similar to Trish's - she changes her profile pic that often you might spend your entire life changing lolThe Mad Monk of St Dunkin'

Oh forums are a distraction! I also have found through experience of meeting people from the forums , that in fact they are sadly often not the people they appear to be on the pages before you. ( oh lord I am sorry for breaking anyones heart ) So in fact , yes it does on the odd occasion change my mind BUT not always for the better. Funny and jolly have been bitter and twisted , others who have been largely condemned for comment on here are in fact witty, loyal and trustworthy. In the whole the nasty has outwieghed the bad. I have met some truley sexy saucy fukrs on here who have made my toes curls ! I stay continueing to find those sassy souls.

I'm always curious about people...all people, here and in real life. Curious as to what makes them tick. I have often messaged people to say I enjoyed their post, especially if they are new to the forums. Sometimes it results in a friendship...sometimes it's "online summer love"...and sometimes I completely misread it! But I never regret initating that contact...just need to leave the forensics to CSI !! Jx

Not really. I've met enough people in real life whom I've known from internet forums to understand that the person you are and the person you pretend to be online can be vastly different creatures. I try to take what I read on here with a grain of salt.

I don't mind being contacted by anyone, regardless of sex or sexuality. I like to make friends and the more friends and the wider the cross section the greater the number of opinions and ideals I learn about. Some of the most amazing and innovative ideas I've ever been privileged to hear have come from people totally alien to the subject with no previous experience. If anyone feels they would like to chat to me away from the forums they are very welcome. On the topic of this thread, I have found myself wanting to meet a number of people who post here and some of the ladies I would go well out of my way to meet for a coffee even just to see if the picture in my head fits the picture in front of me.

As a couple of you may have noticed....I have decided over the past week to state how I actually feel on a few forums. Just fed up with the way many are treated on this crazy site....and I refuse to be one of them anymore, I will not back down from petty tyrants. I have been very pleasantly surprised with the support and messages of thanks, they have come from unexpected people. I have also been saddened a bit by the deathly silence of so called friends. The fence sitters crack me up, they are obviously waiting to wait till the dust settles before they start removing the splinters from their butts. I think it has something to do with the change of seasons....out with the old and in with the new.....lol intrigued & curious

Not at all surprised by the messages I have received full of abuse.... these people rarely have the courage of their convictions to actually post on the public forum or show their face at a meet and greet drinks night. ic

IC, I can fully understand and sympathise where you are coming from. The whole episode is actually quite beneficial, you really do find out who your friends are don't you. Post a comment that goes against the opinion of someone and suddenly you find your friends list getting smaller, PG access disappearing and fewer people on your MSN list. I do find it enlightening at times :D Of course one can follow suit of some here and never post anything that could be conscued either way. Of course they are not being true to themselves and not stating their own opinion or agreeing to something just to stay under the radar and keep in everyone's good books might make them feel popular here I guess. As for the abusive msgs, hell I take them like a badge of honour. Although a few of them that I have received seemed very surprised that I had the audacity to reply. Now I never get abusive (won't lower myself to their standards) but just state my case clearing and eloquently - and ya guessed it, I got another message full of abuse straight back. Ah love the simple minds hehehePeople tend to forget that a forum is an exchange of ideas, opinions and thoughts, not a popularity contest. If I read a thread and disagree with what is being said, I will state my own opinion. To me if I can express my thoughts in a coherent manner, ,why can't I post?Mooka

Absolutely wonderful to hear I was right!!!Hehe n you'd be another lovely I was thinking of when I first posted. We'd exchanged more than just a few words by the time we met even before the meet n greet lol. How awesome that you went out of your way to make a date with us, oh uh should say it was just for coffee I suppose lol... Then you made us feel truly welcome at the meet n greet itself, to see the delight in your face when you first spotted us was wonderful.Hehehe... I'll be getting around to doing a whole pile of validations one of these days. That'd be a lot of something I'd like to see on RHP. Huge hugs from us both

I too am curious about everything and anything connected with human behaviour....and Forum provides a somewhat limited view into the persona behind the avatar/profile. There are so many variables which impact upon a person's ability to communicate, therefore I certainly try not form a fixed opinion about Forum contributors..... not entirely at least. There are, however, some stand out personalities here, those who are gifted in the art of shining thru the 'white noise'. Whose consistency, compassion and commonsense I find so appealing and it is those whom I gravitate toward.. The remaining entities...Meh. As I've said before, we all find our own level eventually.
