Disturbing to say the least

July 04 2015

I received a message today from a lovely lady on rhp who had seen my pics and kindly told me that someone else was using my pics as theirs. I am very freaked out about this and perhaps naive. I started chatting to this woman last year on another site and quickly realised I was dealing with a fake or a time waster as she was sending me lots of pics back but they started to look different. I guess I'm not allowed to say who she is but she is listed as being in bne in mango hill. And similar age to me looking for women or couples only. Pm me if you would like to know. And sorry to anyone who thinks they are talking to me when they aren't.

Would be the mindset of anyone using my pictures as their own. I've very kindly been told I've got a head like a foot. But on topic - OP, that's a crap state of affairs. Do these people realistically think they won't be found out, or think that when it's eventually meet time and you look nothing like your pics, the other party will go 'oh well, I'm a chance for a root so why not?' I've been caught out (as the other party) more than once in that space. No way was I going ahead. Best of luck. - Posted from rhpmobile

I'd use your pics, too, if I thought I could get away with it. mmm.

To the mods, not much more you can do, report them on the other site as well...It's tantamount to identity theft ..horrible thing to happen to you OP,and good luck xxFreya

I always look for people who are verified. I think we have all been back and forth with a few messages and then when you give out a phone number or arrange a coffee, they go missing. I still will talk with people who are not verified, but I proceed with caution. As for someone using your pictures, that is just disturbing to say the least.

Terrible for you OP. Message RHP if you know which member is doing this. From my point of view, I wish someone thought my images were worthy of using, alas 7 years and nobody has found me worth impersonating. Not the best form of flattery but none the less some is better than none.. :P

but as Freya said - report them. They could also be using other people's pics on other sites and the sooner they are banned by reporting, the better. I like Bigocean's method! Not sure I'd be bold enough to try it if it happened to me, though, but good idea to call their bluff.

i had a male contact me and when he unlocked his pics he was an Asian gentleman, not Caucasian with a gym bod as he had as a profile pic. Granted it was just a torso pic but still it was nothing like him he also had a picture of a woman in there too.... Odd. - Posted from rhpmobile

I think people sometimes put too much faith on profiles being verified. When I had my first profile on here last year,I verified it(for those that dont know, its a simple procedure of holding up a piece of paper with a personal code number next to your face, taking a pic and sending it in) and I only had a couple of basic body shots(without my head) on there anyway. So who is to say my body shots were me anyway? I would take more notice of personal validations myself.

Agree. Also, I've come across a fair few profiles that were verified, but had pics of known actors. You can verify your profile and then change your photos. The mods have better things to do then check a member's new pics against the originals to see if they match.

... increasingly we prove who we are remotely ... phone to the bank, O & A's via fax/ email, and here on line, an image is one thing, your legal identify is the whole shebang ..... identify theft is crime of the 20teens Once you have had your identity stolen, it is surprisingly hard to recreate, as it becomes increasingly hard to credibly identify yourself

How does someone "steal your photos? Do you have to send them to them, or can they just take what's on RHP?

You can save any pics from RHP regardless of the "Function disabled!" pop-up, if you know how. It's the reason I put a watermark on all my pics with a free internet program called uMark.

Quoting 'unicorn99' How does someone "steal your photos? Do you have to send them to them, or can they just take what's on RHP? As already stated by Meander; any pictures you post here can be taken/saved extremely easily. One of the ways is so stupidly simply that you can do it by accident. The other requires a couple of menus worth of clicking, but is a function that is built into most web browsers these days. As things have always been on the internet; only post what you want to be out there for the world to see.
