Demisexual (in the words of a teenager)

November 12 2014

In an article published online by Huffpost, Brie (19) said: "I don't feel sexually attracted to people in the normal way. I'm demisexual (that's on the asexuality scale), so I honestly can't feel attraction towards people unless I already love their personality and minds along with a few other special snowflake qualities." HP is publishing a series of essays written anonymously by teenagers, about sex. An interesting read, I'm sure :) Have you heard of demisexual before?

Had to google it, fascinating, kinda like old school romance where the romance is needed to push the sexual button. Be a great way to stay focused and get things done ! Thanks for posting.

How about 'pansexual' also a term used by a teen

Thought that categorized people that wanted to have sex with Demi Moore which requires absolutely no emotional or romantic attraction. Looking at it from an etymological point its a strange term Demi as in Half or half+sexual, kind of misses the requirement of emotional and romantic attraction for once all that clicks I am sure there would be nothing half hearted about the sex.

The article states demisexuality is on the asexuality scale. Pansexuality would then be totally different, no? Europian, can you shed light?

Quoting 'Meander' The article states demisexuality is on the asexuality scale. Pansexuality would then be totally different, no? Europian, can you shed light? Meander, from what I can find, there's a sexual orientation scale called the The Asexual Spectrum, with Sexual at one end, Asexual at the other, and Demi-sexual in the middle. I think that's a different spectrum (if you could call it that) from one relating to homosexuality, heterosexuality, pansexuality etc. But, given I really have no idea, I'm also keen to hear EB's thoughts on the subject.

Had me thinking it was like falling in love with skin or something bizarre.... Then I realised it was DEMI not DERMAL.... *sigh*. Brainfarts do get annoying sometimes :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I don't understand what you are asking EB? Pansexuals I doubt would even recognise a scale, it would be irrelevant.

Quoting 'Meeka100' I don't understand what you are asking EB? Just wanting to hear from someone who has explained sexualities brilliantly before and knows at least one of the two we mentioned firsthand.

Mono-sexual. People who are up themselves.

In this context I would have said mono-sexual as one who only has sex with them selves, a wanker. I think you may have been looking for usque-sexual as in all the way up, people turned on by those that have their head all the way up their arse, or super-sexual someone turned on by arrogance or prideful people (from superbia).

For the demi pleasure comes from the feelings of being in love not desire...A heightened state of mushiness which doesn't require penetrative sex just intense intimacy xxFreya

FreyaA wanker does not always have to spill seed. The onanist, be he over over eager, or wayward in rhythm, or too flush with family to gift his seed, must however spill some seed. With that it is inferred he must be male, and must be able. Back to subject. The meaning of words do not come from the dictionary, the dictionary is the record. Words are defined by the the common and shared understanding. Words change meaning by the context and sub culture they are used in. I guess what I have been trying to say, admittedly obtusely, is that its easy to be different, especially with rebellious/innovative needs to appropriate something special and hence feel special, for no other reason than to share a owned meme with your peers. I am now most confused, am I bisexual, pansexual, sapiosexual, or demisexual. In an attempt to resolve this ambiguity I have spent half this morning doing the many tests (for what they are worth) that can be found online to determine what category I could call mine. Now all I need to know is how to say "I'm sapiobipandemisexual." in a relaxed its OK kind of way.

Mees, well I answer best I can.But before I get into any of this, Ill have to explain that kink is a part of my life. Not evryone is born with it. Its something that seperates you from the beginning when you realize that your experiences of what is expected of society just doesnt apply to you. From here gender of the person doesnt matter. You battle to struggle with accepted notions of girl loving boy, having a family and settling down to retirement. Bleh In a hetero world this is just way of life. But to those of us that are not in that spectrum, we lead a differant life. We battle society and put up with the looks of mis understanding, the not thinking we are normal. They dont see us cry. But when we meet people and know that there are others that share our pain, our faith in humanity is felt. Maybe Im no different from anyone else. Labels are meant to label those who have no undertsanding of what is they cannot understand. Pansexuality, dont ask me. I love who I love. But Ill fuck you within an inch of your life if you get to know me. :P

The many terms that label people certainly goes a long way towads alienating those they are trying to label. Do we need them? Maybe maybe not. We are social spiritual beings and seek out that which gives each of us enjoyment expressing who we are. That is as varied and different as every race and mixture on the planet. Sex comes in many forms but love is love and we all seek being loved in some fashion.
