Earlier this evening I was perusing profiles on another, tamer site. Each person at least had the option to nominate from a list of things which would be turn-ons and which turn-offs. One of those options was the word 'brainiac'. To my mind this means, more or less, an intelligent person. Except when used sarcastically after the person in question has done something patently unintelligent. What struck me was that some people nominated 'brainiac' as a turn-off. How can this be? How can intelligence be a turn-off? Have I got entirely the wrong idea of what a brainiac is?What do you intelligent people think that word actually means? Are there any of you for whom intelligence in a potential partner/playmate/watchamacallit would be a turn-off? And why?

lol the lack of response is your answer! your profile uses to many big words heheBrainiac is a turn off when people are know alls, also whether you're an intellect or not if you dont use words appropriate to the person you are with they feel insecure, unsure and uncomfortable being around you for fear of looking stupid...this is why I think people would list it as a turn off. Plus who wants to discuss chemistry or politics when you're getting fucked doggy while his wife licks you out....know what I mean?!!! i'm not stupid by a long shot, but I spend a certain amount of time with a 21year old RHPer who's extremely intelligent and knowledgable for his age, and I quite often used words out of context ( not because i'm stupid but because i'm lazy and like to exagerate) etc around him ... I should feel bad about myself for it but I dont, I kind of find it ammusing because i'm sure he thinks i'm alot dumber than I am so it gives me the advantage :) Plus i have life experience so I dont feel the need to prove myself.BUT others do :)

I'm not sure the meaning of "brainiac"...sorta brings to mind quantum physics, in which case I would probably give it a miss...but then, I do like to use my brain for sex...the seduction is just that much sweeter when my mind is stimulated. I guess the word needs to be used in context...like everything else. Jx

I'm with Onebrightstar on this one..Do i want to know what a brainiac is ? not really..Is it a nerdy thing perhaps ? Using your brain in a seductive way turn on ..Using your brain in general knowledge to engage in conversation turn on.. Why isnt there a naked library ?

i wasnt sure of what the term 'brainiac' really means either so checked out urban dictionary~ very accurate and resourceful hehe brainiac~ copy and pasted from urbandictrionary... Someone who's life is dedicated to accumulation of all the world's knowledge. smart person person whose attempt at intelligence fails spectacularly. Usually used sarcastically in the phrase "what a brainiac". Someone who is addicted to getting head. sarcastic. used when denoting someone's lack of intelligence, i.e. they try an idea and it fails miserably. One who is not only intelligent, but gives the best blowjobs. An idiot I like the 2nd last definition! but seriously the word brainiac kinda makes me think of the 'know it all' type. and thats not always intelligent. intelligence i definately find a turn on, mmm and common sense...

A brainiac would be the least of ones problems..... A brainiac I could handle. A tight arse I could not. Intelligence can be stimulating. A tight arse bastard CANNOT.

Pollyanna68, I take your point that there are times and places for chemistry and politics, as there are for doggy style and licking. Also that an intellect used indiscriminately as a weapon is a sad thing to see.To a degree, we all speak differently depending on the circumstances, and write differently again, if at all. However, does there not come a time when we have to risk somebody else's discomfort in order to make a necessary point? If we all avoided the public display of intellect, so as not to make the least intelligent (however the term is understood, Trish) amongst us insecure, would we not all appear as unintelligent as the least intelligent person you can think of? How would any of us discover each other's hidden smarts? How far backwards should one person bend to cater for another's insecurities? May I unofficially volunteer my local library as the site for a preliminary investigation into the feasibility of 'The Naked Library'. It would make it so much more interesting a place to go. French backpackers, anyone? Personally, I'm quite fond of big words.

Intelligent people dont have to also be anti-social people. I think it's a sign of superior intelligence to be able to clearly communicate with other people, no matter what their intelligence. It's a lack of intelligence that makes a person with expertise so aloof as to be unable to have a conversation. So what's a brainiac anyway? Maybe the perception is that a brainiac is a person who is always imposing wisdom upon you. Sometimes people just don't want to be told. Hugs Stalky

Ablokeimet , the French backpackers are very welcome..yoplait....I agree stalky when people start imposing their wisdom on others it can be just plain rude and ignorant..It doesnt even matter how much you have in your wallet.. Look at Eddie Maguire he is a very smart man, yet in the business world he was far from a people person..Yet he is also the boss of Collingwood football club , how do you figure that..Maybe a touch of ignorance..
