Cow Bay versus Buchan Point, Cairns, quick query?

Hi all, a newbie here from Vic, we are thinking of going to Cairns later in the year and can see there are two nude beaches in the vicinity, Cow Bay and Buchans Point. Has anyone experienced either, and if so what were your general impressions? What is the crowd like, eg, friendly vibe or a little overtly voyeuristic? Any recommendations worthy of either? I apologise for posting in this forum incase there is a more appropriate forum I should have used! I look forward to your opinions? Ben

Firstly, there are no legal optional beaches in QLD. We go to Buchans daily when we holiday (twice a year) in Palm Cove. We don’t go to Buchans to meet people but rather to enjoy being nude. It’s mainly males on the beach. In the 5 years we have been going we have only ever seen 3 couples. We have been to Cow Bay several times. Quite a drive and then a ferry ride. Never seen anyone nude on the beach at all. In fact very few people are on the beach at all . So if you are going with the hope of getting action, your chances are very very slim

No legally sanctioned nude beaches in Qld. Lived in Cairns and would visit Buchans a couple of times a week. Lovely spot. Cow Bay isn't worth the extra travel.

Alot of old, tanned, gay guys and older couples at Buchans. Backpackers as well They don't bother you though except to say Hi. I always felt safe when I went without Hubby or a friend.
