Cougars, Wogs, Pin-Dicks and Fat Chicks.

February 14 2010

So, based on my age I have been thrown into a Cougar search engine.   Was I asked? No. Do I want to be there? No.   My profile clearly states I am here to socialise with people from 18 - 90 NOT prey on young men.   So, why the hell am I listed as a Cougar? Time for a nicely phrased letter to the Admin me thinks.   What is next? Labelling us by race? Chinks? Wogs, Dago's, Abo's and Paddy's anyone?   Search for Sticks, Tubbies, Muffin tops, Lardasses?  Where does it end?   (If you found the last couple of lines offensive then welcome to Cougar town)     Anyone else annoyed?

I raised this a few days ago... it's wrong !   I am very offended that I have no choice as to what label I am given.   Sure... I've had sex with a younger guy BUT I don't go hunting for them and I don't like to be hunted by them ! The one I've been with just happened... and I took a lot of convincing.   Since then I've rejected every other guy under 30.  I just don't see the point of getting emotionally involved with a guy who I don't see a future with.   I would like to complain but I'm sure it will do nothing.  The Cougar search is simply a marketing ploy.    xx Saturn

hehe.. I had a hunch it would come to this. Personally, I would like RHP participants, men and women alike, to be categorised as sluts, frigid bitches, or time wasters.... and save a lot of time all round. :p   Hugs Stalky

You have every right to take offence and more so, to be stamped with what, in my opinion, is a rather tasteless branding exercise without your prior approval.  Newsflash...sex sells (wow, wonder who figured that one out?) and the "Cougar Syndrome" is just the lastest in a long list of how it's being packaged.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of newly unemployed Madison Avenue spin doctors with MBAs  running wild in the streets (car industry and Wall Street has not been kind) with this one.  Don't think I will bother watching the TV show either...but then again I don't watch much of that mindless drool anyway.   This has been going on for decades...I don't recall too many pictures gracing my walls as a teenager that weren't of women at least 15 years my senior...with the exception of Playboy, and they were targeting a completely different market.  Would not have been difficult to target the very willing prey!   Have a look at People magazines "Sexiest Man Alive" awards over the last 20 years and nearly all of the men have been over 35 with Sean Connery (now nearly 80) topping the charts at age 59.  It would be interesting to know the demographic readership of that rag and who voted?  Guess you would have to decided who is the hunter and who is the prey?  Better still what makes good adverstising...I guess tagging men with a similar label has been done to death.    I think they owe and apology to the cougar too...the females hunt primarily to feed their young and rarely if ever for sport.  The males are very territorial and hunt or attack as a means to protect others within their chosen circle.  Somebody should have told all these guys that the species (puma concolor) was nearly killed into extinction out of fear and it is only the occassional rogue (male or female) that hunts for sport.  When they do, the carnage is impressive.  Okay...so I do come from Oregon which just happens to be home to the most dense poulation/sq. mile of these magnificient animals and have have literally been eye to eye with a couple on occassion in the wild.  Obviously I survived.    Short form.....nail 'em!  And put one on the table for the real cougars while your at it.

I'm all for it...I mean, ultimately, it's still my choice who date!   That said, Joanna, I too world be offended if someone told me I was a cougar or implicated me as being one without my knowledge....its a bit of a tacky term, and women should be seen as individuals not part of a gimmicky social movement.   lovebittenxoxox

I get your frustration Joanna but to suggest that the gimmicky label of 'cougar' is as offensive a term as all the racial slurs you noted is a bit much. It doesn't even compare. I'd rather be called a cougar than any of the nasty names I have been called in my life just because I'm not white. But hey, I've developed a thick skin as a result so maybe these things don't bother me so much?I do get that you don't enjoy the connotations that go with 'cougar'. After all, there's a reason why I don't list myself as 'Asian' to save myself getting emails from people who do their own 'Hot Asian Babe Search'. Nothing creeps me out more than men who specifically seek out Asian women. This cougar thing is a fad. It'll end once the promotional mileage has been exhausted. From what I understand any woman seeking younger men end up on the search so if it distresses you that much, just bump your preferred age bracket over your own age.I might have to adjust my own profile lest some young bucks seeking a Hot Asian Cougar Babe flood my inbox :D

A label is a label. Be it racial or otherwise. And my age group stipulates 18 - 90. What should I bump it up to? lol

I don't reallllly see that this is something to get so worried n upset about. They've made a shortcut to a search on women listing themselves as over 35 and looking for younger men.I'm fairly sure if guys were advanced enough to make an account on here, they can figure out the super tricky filters on the search screen: select "women", select "35" in the first box, tick the "who are looking for me" box. hit search.C'mon, that'd be like getting offended cause I was on a "Cub search for cougars" list, it is just a filter, I don't have to be what it says, nor carry on with anyone who uses it. I dunno, just seems like getting all worked up over nothing.Bump the age group up to 40 - I'm assuming it really is just a simple "list all women age 35+ who list looking for "men" and have lower age set as less than their own".(sorry if that reads as grumpy/grouchy)
