Great topic and something I haven't really thought about before.Personally I can't think of anything worse than the taste and feeling of rubber in my mouth if going down on a guy however it raises questions because it's my understanding stds can be transmitted via any cuts on or in the mouth (eg if he has herpes and you have an open cut on your mouth it can be transmitted). However I am limited by year 9 sex ed classes and a vague recall. lol

You can actually get STD's from giving blowjobs without a condom. For one you are actually able to get Gonorrhea. Gonorrhea is spread through contact with the penis, vagina, mouth, or anus. Ejaculation does not have to occur for gonorrhea to be transmitted or acquired.One of my females friends actually caught Gonorrhea from giving a guy infect a blow job. she didn't even have sex with him. I know you are also able to get other STD's by giving guys BJ's without a condom but i heard Gonorrhea is the most common. I went to a swingers party once and was very appalled on how every Tom, Dick and Harry was receiving bj's without Condoms. I was thinking ok.... STD overload. lol I mean i think It's all great if every one involved is tested and clean and it was a private swingers party where everyone is have gotten tested and everything but this was in a swingers club that everybody just met for the first time and every body was strangers. I have received oral while wearing a condom, but it was mainly due to the condom being chocolate flavoured. That was pretty successful at the time and she and I enjoyed it, but I think most other flavoured condoms still probably taste like rubber.I think if you really want to be safe and protect yourself properly then yea perhaps a condom for oral, perhaps for a new partners atleast. You can still catch/transmit STI's from oral from what I have heard. I'm sure there's plenty of info online about it.I think we all want to have fun, but you need to balance the safety, I mean your health is important. It's certainly an interesting subject.

Yes. Before I met my husband, and in the early days of our courtship, whenever I gave a blowjob, I'd insist on a condom. That is because the mouth is also an orifice into the body, which makes transmission of viruses and bacteria quite possible. You can catch an awful lot of stuff through unprotected oral. But you're right. It doesn't taste quite as good. The latex is unpalatable, but you can get flavoured condoms, which helps a bit.

There are a number of diseases commonly transfered by mouth - cock contact. Yes there will be some sensation loss but the same can be said for intercourse and we aren't putting ourselves at risk by going without condoms there either. You can still have a lot of fun whilst feeling safe :)

Thanks to everyone for the sex education class. just goes to show I learn new things about sex everyday. I also received a few messages from people on this topic in my inbox and got some links to some good sites with info. It’s just not worth the risk and unless I am with a long term partner (which I doubt will happen anytime soon) from now on I am defiantly going to use a condom when giving a blow job from now on. I get tested regularly regardless, and I know I am currently clean so its good to start my new rule on a clean slate so to speak.

We have been asking couples if they do safe sex, most say yes. Then we ask OK condoms for oral too they say no We say everything that u protect yourself by having sex with condoms you can catch with oral. So why bother? Or do it properly oral and sex. Some are saying why bother swinging then? Has made us think about why we have given some couples oral oral without condoms then they have not returned the act and have gone straight to intercourse with condoms......If it is the reason we now think it is, we dont want to play with those types ....we will not be leading the way with oral with couples that say safe sex anymore!i

And yes the general concensous was that no one was really using dental dams or gloves for foreplay. Which means no one is having safe sex. To make a dental dam. Cut the fingers off the glove. But not the thumb. Slit the glove up the opposite side of the thumb so that you end up with a rectangle with the thumb in the middle. Mark a small x or dot on one side so you know which side you are licking if it falls off. The thumb hole gives you extra room for penetration. You need to google & talk to doc then judge what risks you are taking. Thats what we have done. For us personally we decided that condoms for BJ & intercourse. No one goes down on Mrs H with out a clean certificate or we feel we know them & we not using gloves (except for fun!) but plan on being super vigilant with hand washing & not lick fingers. We felt that in a 3 or 4 some situation it was pretty much impossible to create a safe sex situation. Condom up all toys too. And remember is that all it takes is 1 non safe encounter for that certificate they have to be totally useless. We are choosing to use it more as a tool to find couples who are vigilant & thoughtful about risks rather than an A ok tick. Hope this helps... xx
