Censorship of the Internet this year

January 30 2010

sex

United We Stand. Divided we are screwed. This year the Minister for Comminications Senator Steven Conroy will introduce legislation to censor the internet. The Rudd Govt signalled this a couple of years ago and late last year completed trials with some ISP providers. Trying to get information our of Sen. Conroy has been like pulling teeth. He has been purposely vague which is the really scary part. The least draconian scenario is there will be two levels of censorship. First level is that some websites and IP addresses will be totally censored to the Australian public. Some of these reasonable people will not have a problem with eg kiddie porn, inciting terrorism and the like. Some of theses sites are already blocked. Others he refuses to deny will be censored include abortion, euthanasia and other sites that run against government policy. It already a gaolable offence to publish a list of banned sites. There are obviously good reasons for this but it also means we do  not know what our relected reps are, in their wisdom, keeping from mature Australian adults. The second (opt in) level will be for websites that contain content that would not be Refused Classification (RC) in Aust. ie, DVDs and magazines that are available in adult shops. BTW X rated content can still only legally be sold in ACT and NT even though it is done quite openly (but illegally) in all the other states. But that is another issue. The rub is the extent of what is Refused Classification.  What is permitted with an X rating is, essentially, Non Violent Erotica (NVE).  Meat and potatos sex. ALL FETISHES are in the Refused Classification category.  YES, YOU READ IT RIGHT. Apparently it is a crime against nature to have a fetish and such practices must not be encouraged, by law, in this country. For example, all BDSM from mild to wild including spanking will be blocked. You will not be able to view any websites featuring  odd ball but harmless fetishes between consenting adults . This is real, this is happening it will hit the fan some time this year. Remember, this is the BEST scenario.  Sen. Conroy set out to ban ALL adult websites from Australia. We think we have this opt in concession but still he ducks all pointed questions. Be prepared, write letters, be ready to march. It will be HUGE.

Hang on.. well.. licking armpits is not a violent fetish... spanking is not necessarily a violent fetish for that matter... actually.. I think there's going to be a problem with the definitions.... vis vis: Violence is the state of being "emotionally agitated to the point of loss of control".   If violence is the guage where does vanilla start and stop?... is wild arse slapping doggy style with hair pulling and neck bighting within the boundary..... uup until you have an orgasm? ... lolz... or do you just remove the depictions of the hair pulling?  .... Whilst I do not support the decision, I  take issue with your comment: "Apparently it is a crime against nature to have a fetish and such practices must not be encouraged, by law, in this country" .... the legislation doesn't make these activities themselves illegal... at its worst it makes it illegal to publsih depictions of presently undefined activities on the internet...   I think that coming up with definitions of those activities will be the challenge for legislators... what precisely is Non Violent Erotica.... or will they take the weak position and let Judges decide what those words mean? We all know how kinky Judges can be about sex... and their interpretation could well turn on the word "violent" for which there are already precedents in criminal proceedings.... a far cry from any BDSM activities... so I think that will be very interesting!   Hugs Stalky

Also they are banning all imported porn movies with women with small breasts because they say it resembles  underage girls.

Spanking is specifically included  as Refused Classification.I did hear of a website owner in Aus. who was shooting spanking. The model I spoke to said he believed he was within the law as long as the buttocks were not red.   Kind of defeats the purpose though.Stalky, you are correct. It is not illegal to indulge in fetishes as such. I worded that comment poorly. My comment was intended to make the connection between "Laws against Nature" as a reason to ban media  encouraging fetishes as distinct from "Common Law" by which I mean activities where one person is adversly affected by another's actions. eg assault, theft, fraud. So called "Laws Against Nature" - which includes currently common activities like anal sex are private and personal matters and as long as between consenting adults should not be subject to criminalising by a small group of people in power at the time. But they are.We must unite and make ourselves heard as a very large body of Australian voters. A body that has numbers they cannot ignore and has numbers that conteract the numbers of the very vocal and active Religious Right/Family First camp. There are two issues here that can be tackled separately.First is to fight against censorshipSecond is to greatly reduce what is currently Refused Classification. The RC guides are well overdue for an overhaul in any case. They are Victorian era thinking

The main thrust of my comments re Refused Classification is that we are all in for a shock when we learn just how much is in that category.Re Stalky's comments about the grey area of what is defined and definitions and kinky or non kinky judges. The Office of Film and Literature Classification Board has already been there and done that. They have have pretty much set their guidelines and unless a decision is challenged in court the vagaries of judges and juries does not apply.

Quoting 'chimpy21' Also they are banning all imported porn movies with women with small breasts because they say it resembles  underage girls.      I just applied for this screening job... It's going to be tough - but there's a 6 month breast induction.

I imagine censorship will make a huge difference to these forums...I'm not trying to be funny when I mention that there have been 2 threads that I know of introducing the topic of internet censorship in the last few months. They also had minimal responses though they did include links in their threads for us to protest via petitions and letters which I'd rather RHPers used to follow up on anyway lol, let's hope they did or use the link I'll include here to do so!!!... One of threads no longer exists which is a shame as it had various links and excellent comments but the link I've copied and pasted here is still there with the link I've included at the end. http://www.redhotpie.com.au/Adult-Forums/Petition-to-stop-Rudds-Internet-Censorship-24916 - http://www.getup.org.au/

Is midget porn on the unclassified list!? I don't want to have to get my midget porn on the black market... They're exploited enough as it is... Random Ps what if you have an Asian fetish? Won't I be able to get the next instalment of "Old Finks Young Chinks"? Damn this stoopid censorship.
