Annce Rice writes some mad stuff. Some of it can be pretty controversial, but at same time it takes you to that erotic darkside I though I never had. Vampires, Witches, Immortals. All good.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R.Ward is a good read. I didn't even know that it had erotic scenes in it when i started the series.Absolute

My ex got into the Anita Blake books, but the last couple havent been as good as the first ones, could do with some more killing and so on in them, sure the sex scenes are pretty good but even those are furthere and further inbetween. I like Sherriynn Kenyon, her Dark Hunter novels, again, my ex got me reading them, and if you like Anita Blake you should like them, gods and demons, daimons pretty cool stuff, the first one to look for is Fantasy Lover, if you want to start right at the beginning Rich

She is one amazing lady! I love Merry & Anita...*sigh* Love Nathanial & Doyle. *sigh* The orgies are so well written! I have read JR Ward too. She is pretty good but didnt hook me as much as Anita. Also like Kerri Arthur's Riley Jensen series. Very hot stuff & set in Australia ( Melbourne I think...so even better!) Riley is a half were half vamp & has a gay twin brother. Lots of action & enjoyable plot though more intricate path but not so well written as Laurell books. Try Sherrilon Kenyon. She does some hot stuff but is more of a romance writer who writes about vamps (dark hunters). Still I love the world she has created...Its amazing! Anne Rice erotica : Belinda is my fave! but also love the Sleeping Beauty series...very hot and always makes me sooooo horny! Her erotica doesnt have any supernatural elements in it tho. E books: look for RG Alexander. Children of the Sun series. 3 short books but amazing sex scenes! Yum! Always happy to chat about books! Mrs H xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Books are good but I believe most writers are generally just trying to inspire us to live our lives with passion and adventure-to rid ourselves of the inhibitions and conformity we are programmed to accept as if it were our nature and instead they encourage us to make concious choices about how we live our lives. From all the books I've read I feel most people write because they'd like us all to live like the best book we'd ever want to read. They encourage their readers to live a life filled with as many of the experiences they describe and are attempting to preach to billions of daft monkey brains that to have some regrets of what you may attempt and fail in achieving may be preferable when looking back upon your life, instead of having too many regrets about having missed the opportunities that came your way because you lacked the faith in yourself to believe that you could actually live out your wildest dreams... Each time you buy a book you really owe it to all those sensitive yet intense hipster dufuses out there churning out the tomes to try to incorporate something of theirs-"the work" into your life-not necessarily the rampant alcoholism, addictions or the syphillis and consequent madness or the addictive co-dependent destructive relationships-that makes it all become possible-but the passion-the joy-the sense of adventure. Don't just read it-try it-at least once-especially if you're reading the same thing over and over. From all the books I've read-I really think they just want to wake you up to the possibility that you can live your life in a way that: -You could never imagine the next chapter-let alone the ending; -You're always keen to turn the page as all that's come before has been truly entertaining and interesting; -The further you go along-the more you find you have learned and discovered about yourself and the world and how little time you actually have to do all you could ever dream to be able to achieve it all so don't waste it if you're ever actually handed the winning ticket; -You can allow yourself to be open to challenge or new concepts rather than shut off from new ideas as you may discover all you you've known before is irrelevant or useless now or better still in time you could realise how you really were ahead of your time; -You can experience the truth of life-no longer simply accepting the lies and fears of others as your own; -You can always retain your child-like surprise and delight in unimaginable adult pleasures or pursuits that come come your way at the most unlikely times or events... -You can allow new people into your life because they could change your life in the most unexpected of ways, you may not be ready for them but knowing them may bring about your greatest transformation. As they are fantastic as they make you want to go on or they may even force you whilst you are kicking and screaming and fighting them-to wake up and save yourself. As you realise that prior to their arrival in your life you felt like abandoning all hope or you've just allowed yourself to become stuck in a routine that's really just about killing time than living the life you really want; -You can constantly make the effort to conquer the disappointments in order to make room for new satisfactions; -You can possess the endurance to overcome the banality of the everyday and stay strong in your faith that anything is possible and there could be some unexpected magic and unexplained phenomena that may just visit you someday; -You can give yourself over willingly to the unimaginable and unexpected plot twists that take place-as it's only then you can ensure your life could include almost anything whether it be a fractured fetish fairy tale, to end up an unlikely hero to the underdogs or become a champion for a very worthy yet otherwise unsupported cause; -Your own story can include all the passion, the lust, the desire, the longing, the yearning, the sweet satisfaction of complete abandonment to a skilled lover and the sexual adventures you only ever dreamed possible; -You can withstand all the bloodletting, the fights, the bruises, broken bones, the harsh words, the losses, the tragedies and all the complications of standing your ground against injustice or complete misunderstandings and recover from any or all of the wounds of being recruited to a cause that you discovered far too late was not worth fighting for at all; -You can learn that love does conquer all as you know that evil is nothing more than just live spelt backwards and to live a life without any kind of love in it is to live in a very backwards and primitive way; -You can know lovers that make you feel alive, sustained, validated, satiated, insane, sick, jealous, safe, high, challenged, weak and stupid-at least one will make you feel all this at once-and it's probably best to always aim this high; -You can experience the bonds of true friendships that keep you safe, sane, joyful, loved and will provide shelter in the storms of life of which there are many and will become your family when your own family of origin is absent; -You can welcome the betrayals of friends or lovers that eviscerate your soul as although it's initially painful, it's always better to know the truth about someone sooner than to live at length in an elaborate illusion and ruminate with resentment and perceived humiliation seemingly endlessly into old age upon its late discovery; -You can learn to say sorry as saving face is really not as important as it is to save an amazing friendship; -You can learn how new beginnings can erase bad endings-or at least keep them mostly at bay; -You can live a life that you enjoy and be someone special rather than just anyone. Books can turn you on-but imagine how delicious it is to be someone whose memories render erotic fiction as interesting yet completely unnecessary-their own fantasies far more elaborate, twisted and sensual than anything as yet put down on a page. I think these books are cute... “And since I’m going to be in the neighborhood, you thought I might do as an escort? To an orgy?” — Living Dead in Dallas “Don’t close your eyes. Look at me, lover”. – Dead to the World "I always tell you the truth. I may not tell you everything I know, but what I tell you… it’s true.”— Dead and Gone *smirk* NymphetamineDrm

I'm a reader so it'd be pretty strange if I didn't have some... Um... Favourite books for "me time"... There are a lot, but the vintage erotica is holding my interest these days, D H Lawrence is the current favourite for a bit of relaxing, though it's not porn by modern standards. He writes a wicked poem too... Read "Mystery" to a partner who likes a nice turn of phrase and see if it gets their motor running ;-) I'm surprised Anne Bishop hasn't gotten a mention yet, there's some pretty sexy stuff going on there too... Am quite happy to read explicit stuff, but it's hard to find well written explicit erotica. There's only so many times a member can throb before it gets boring... I used to (and still do when inspired) write that sort of fic. Always had the goal of presenting very explicit, non-mainstream erotica which maintained respect for the participants... Challenging, but there's enough degrading porn out there, it doesn't need me to contribute to the pile! IMO good written erotica is a hybrid of poetry and prose... Meter and rhythm are vital...

Its kinda funny now, since we obviously brought later editions that all say : ANNE RICE writting as A N Roquelaure. I had Beautys Punishment close to hand and it was published in 87. She was ahead of her time thats for sure. Makes me wonder if her catholic books will be the way of the future...lol hope not! Back when we first discovered that while pictures & movies did practically nothing for me; the written word left me damp & excited, there was nothing really on the market for women. It was either male writers or females writing for a male audience. It was sexual but not sexy. There was no love, it was often about hate or loathing. Very rarely did the main characters end up together. The Sleeping Beauty series was unique at the time because while it was about S&M , B&D ect...there was a foundation of love underneith all that. At the time I was also reading the Anonymous set. ( I, You, Her, Him, Us ect) And while I loved the explicit sex scenes...so often I was left upset, dpressed & negative after reading them. There was often a rape or an abuse. Bad feelings about sex...Like they had to ruin all this good sexiness the words were creating in the world by putting it in a horrible context. I naturally prefered Anne Rices because of the love and affection in them. Though at the time I didnt realise that. Its only this year as I brought an Amazon Kindle & discovered reams of erotica on line that I had pinpointed what I want from an erotic novel. It needs to flow & be well written. It needs to have lots of sex scenes, but not so many it feels unrealistic. It needs to have affection...the people having sex need to like each other either as friends or lovers..whatever but I hate sex to be about control, hate or loathing. Not to be confused with control & bondage which I love, as long as the feelings underneith are caring & affection. Todays erotica seems to be written more for us girls in mind. I still come accross some nasty ones in anthologies...but low and behold they are usually written by men. Not sure why that is. I have read some good stuff by men too, but I must admit a female mind is more likely to give me what I crave. I do like werewolves & vamps but only if the story writing & sex scenes are not compromised. mmmm Off to read abot hot 3 somes I think today...Mrs H xxx

Yes yes yes agree with all the above! Only on Book 2 of the Anita Blake series so afar. But the Black Daggar Brotherhood top my list of favs but a frickin mile!! Vishous is just so ***swoon*** worthy. Not far behind is def Cat and bones from the Jeanine Frost series, One foot in the grave, I think is the first one. Do yourself a favour and read it. There are 4 books in the series so far, and it s up there with Anita Blake, JR Ward, Kate Douglas and Sherrilyn Kenyon (omg Dark hunters ....love them...*fans self**) Damn... all my books are packed up , I can't get to them... x Kylie

Quoting 'longtallandcute' I'm surprised Anne Bishop hasn't gotten a mention yet, there's some pretty sexy stuff going on there too... I love Anne Bishop as well. As a writer she is fantastic! I wouldnt class her as erotica more dark fantasy or dark romance. If we are going mainstream authors then I love Sara Douglass, Melanie Rawn & Jacqueline Carey ( I think she in particular you would like...her world is amazing and she doesnt skimp on words). And I agree about the quality of writing...thats the only problem with ebooks...alot of them weren't published on paper for a reason...but you dont know unless you buy & try. Have found some pearlers! Mrs H xx

I just reviewed my profile and was surprised to note that 'books' are not in the interests list. I think we should have a consciousness-raising erotic fiction naturist reading club to raise ... consciousness... about the issue.also..NymphetamineDRM said: most writers are generally just trying to inspire us to live our lives with passion and adventure-to rid ourselves of the inhibitions and conformity we are programmed to accept as if it were our nature and instead they encourage us to make conscious choices about how we live our lives.YES! Exactly.. the good ones do anyway.. but I'm not sure that 'just' is right.. When you get down to it, what is more important than living your life like you're alive? MrsH - Sara Douglass & Melanie Rawn I've read, not Jacqueline Carey though. I'll have to check that out! ... mainstream, Katherine Kerr is good but we're moving well away from the erotica here.. eg Sara Douglass only has the occasional (well written) horn fodder.
