automatically get threads closed down (I refer to a scat play thread of the last few months and my favourite thread of a couple of years ago regarding donuts). I have found that most people like to think theyre open minded enough to discuss anything but there are some topics that they just can not get their mind around to discuss. As for my Moral compass and me behaving badly - every chance I get Kisses Focus

I knew you would post this. After 84.5 hours of debating this topic tirelessly over the last few days with you over endless cups of coffee milk I still stand by my original statement being that we play the morality card when it suits us under the given circumstance I fall into the 70 percent. So do you. Now I ask you does that have anything to do with the careers we chose to pursue or because of learnt behaviours ? You owe me a bourbon and I'm a top shelf guy simply because you can't reach that high. :P

I carefully typed up a new topic last night and got shut down. It never listed and on top of that I over cooked my muffins while typing. No one likes an over done muffin Quoting 'Lost_Focus' automatically get threads closed down (I refer to a scat play thread of the last few months and my favourite thread of a couple of years ago regarding donuts). Now how come I wasnt surprised by what Jensman posted :) Hello Playful - ok Im dying to ask..what was the topic that you got shut down ? I mean hell...you over cooked your muffins for the sake of it Thankyou Focus - I did wonder what happened to that Scat forum - cause I was reading it..and then it like ...vanished !!! Freya I hear that you are on your way to growing old disgracefully..you go girl !!! - I pity poor Sydney town next month Jonstar- Dear Friend Yes I posted our debate topic because I feel that the forums here attract diverse opinion and before we can draw our conclusions of which a bottle of bourbon (top shelf) has been wagered on - we needed a cross section of answers from the community..so we have apparently found many 2 percenters !!! - so to date you are rite...watch this forum closely then... I agreed our chosen careers could contribute to us being in the 70 percent....we took a Oath remember...but again is this learnt behavior from our parents, society etc or chosen behavior.. So for instance after I drop you off at the airport on Saturday, do I a) chose to trash your hosue b) choose try and sell your house c) hold a open Facebook invite party at your house d) house sit your house...whilst you are traveling ? given our moral code, you will safely bet that I will do d) HOWEVER what happens if you piss me off ??? option c) is a frightening prospect in Perth at the mo given the Piara Waters guy got off with a warning !!!! Think hard...do you recall who had your passport last, this week ...:P

To answer part of what you asked, MsVelvet.Yes, we are *more likely* to be openminded here in RHP than say, those on e harmony or the other less sexually oriented dating sites. Does not mean everyone here is tho, as there will be plenty here looking for the love of their life only, who aren't looking to swing, find a FWB or fuck buddy etc. Therefore, they are less likely to be as openminded as those who are chasing those things. Also, I find that everyone has a moral compass, that kicks in every now n then, tho the level that compass stands at, differs from person to person, sometimes greatly. And lastly, just because we are on a sexual contact site, does not necessarily mean our moral compass or openmindedness, is any different to folk who would never join a site like this.

interesting about the 'moral compass' is that a quick Google look-up shows that the majority of websites dealing with the subject are all of religious orientation.I feel that when you have something you feel strongly about, you should have the right to express it, whether others agree or not. As adults, everyone should be mature enough (I know there are always exceptions to the rule) to be able to discuss, debate and express their feelings without getting shot down, shut down, or told they are wrong. Just because one person doesn't believe in something, doesn't mean it isn't right.Amusingly enough, I've just been studying morals and 'children' for uni, and it's such an interesting, and intriguing topic to see how it's portrayed in textbooks and academically. As far as I'm concerned, just because we're on this site, doesn't mean we should be 'open' to everything. We should be able to discuss 'anything' but we shouldn't have to agree that we like it, would do it, or agree to you doing it. We are all individuals, and how we were bought up, how we live now, and the influences that drive us will be the things that set each individual compass and the direction it points. Mrs C x

I think there a fair few closed minded people who contribute to the forum. Overall I would say it has become a lot more conservative than a few years ago. So... Open minded only to certain extent in my experience.

Open minded I thought was a person that was open to new stuff providing it stacked up for them after they had processed the available information. Open minded does not mean having the same standards, boundries, fantancies and expectations as you. How do you know if people here consider new ideas and then decide its not for them, cant see how thats closed minded.

the only moral 'compass' i have is my desire to protect and maintain my relationship. if its good for us, as an indivual, or as a couple, then it will be considered, if its not, or has any risk to my family or circle of friends, then its rejected outright... our moral compass includes such things as complete transparency , trust and honesty.... we share everything, and keep no secrets from one another, and we wont be drawn into practices that make either of us uncomfortable...like play with attached guys...thats one place we will never go, regardless of how appealing or available the person may be, its not an option.....

...and Futurenomads is correct in their assessment of openmindedness. Meeka doesn't expect everyone to embrace her values but there are some RHP members who are closed minded enough to argue that she should embrace theirs. I wish I had been here for the heyday you've described, Meeks.

One person's idea of an open mind is another's shocked mind & another might call them a prude. Its all a matter of degree. Its what makes us human. Its why the forum is here, allows the wide variety of views to be aired.

I don't believe I have ever said that everyone should love cock and enjoy rooting men's bums. Did I? I think being open minded is more than deciding if something is for you or not. Being open minded is about being receptive to new ideas and other people's opinions without judgement and acceptance/respect of the other person as well. People have kinks I would never try but that's cool... I ask questions and try to understand but I hope that I am always accepting of the other person. My comment about the forum was more directed towards comments I have read where people are discouraged from exploring their sexuality or expressing themselves. I really dislike that... And yep I am probably closed minded about those people. I wish they would take their conservative views on sex, love and life and shove it when the sun don't shine. :) Peace. :p

Disagree with you smiling. A nun can be open minded and a kinky domantrix can be closed minded. An open mind is about being open to new ideas isn't it? Not necessarily about whether you are willing to try every kink.

Jensman, there have always been closed minded people here as there is everywhere. I personally feel that the forum as a whole is more conservative now than it was a few years ago. Nothing wrong with that... Except I really like the naughty people. But that is a personal thing. What really FUCKS ME OFF is when people talk about things that quite frankly, they know fuck all about. You know what, if you have never been to a sex club, or a gang bang, etc etc don't offer advice or opinions like you know all about it. I see this all the time now and it really bugs me. Everyone knows it all these days but unfortunately their opinion is usually to discourage. Now I freely admit that I rarely read the forum these days so apologizes if I have got it wrong... I know a few of the worst offenders have now left so this may not be happening anymore.

Or am I wrong? Is being willing to physically try new things, sex acts and kinks, a prerequisite to being open minded?
-

does being on an adult site, mean we should all leave our values and principles at the door? no...we dont think so....so how open minded and non judgemental is it for those who disagree with our views (views that include empathy and compassion for the victims of things like infidelity and betrayal) to call either of us names over and over, like 'bigot', and 'arrogant' and 'ignorant' or even 'judgemental wanker'? not very..... and more than a little hypocritical in our mind.......

Quoting 'Meeka100' Or am I wrong? Is being willing to physically try new things, sex acts and kinks, a prerequisite to being open minded? Yes and no Meeks. By that I mean an open minded Vanilla person will not be up for the same new things, acts n kinks, as say, an open minded bisexual deviate. We all don't follow the standard dictionary definition. For me personally tho, hell yes. Being open to trying new things, acts and kinks, is part and parcel of my open-mindedness. Its part of who I am,a deviate

When I posted my last comment, I was responding to Futurenomads and your post was not even there. I was very disapointed when they showed up and yours was overhead as I knew right then, with your persecution complex, that you would believe it directed at you. Mike, you're not the center of my universe, I'm really sorry about that, I'm sure you believe you should be. I'm ammused that you find me hypercritica,l to your mind (then your mind has always been unhinged). I've always said that you're welcome to your opinion as long as you accept my right to have my own but you refuse to allow that even though I always offer supporting comment to my stand points while you just rant. By the way complaining about the names you've been called (and only you, I've never said a word against Shel) and claiming it's childish while you're happy to call people names yourself and hurl harsh judgements and insults yourself is hypercritical. You're the one following me around from thread to thread with your absurd insistance that you never lie while you've been caught out many times already and really have no idea what honesty is. If you don't want me arguing with you, don't try to provoke me. It'll never work out for you. You're quite simply not clever enough. Goodbye and goodluck.

I simply look down and see IF the needle is pointing... and I follow the way it is pointing... If I reach what it is pointing at, I understand it has lead me to the correct place. Women have a more difficult issue here, because they do not have a needle on their compass... So, maybe one of the Women can spill the beans on how it works for them please?? :)

My opinion on this is pretty well short and to the point, just because someone has a particular sexual kink or quirk doesn't necessarily mean that they are more likely to rob a bank or commit murder etc. I look at it from the point that our sexual kinks are in one basket, our family/kids etc in another, and work in yet another. And any disruption in any of the "baskets" could cause any kind of moral issue to develop. I think people should look elsewhere for their witch hunt fodder, rhp'ers don't seem a bad bunch so far.

not sure if this is appropriate for this thread but just watched a movie called "shame". I think everyone in rhp can relate to the main character - very floored but still a "nice" person. I find it hard at times to judge myself as even though we may be doing bad things we still have a "moral compass" its a constant struggle... I know I am a good bloke but I am in here.. which isnt bad in itself but I wonder how many have an addiction to sex or just to attention seeking - feeding egos.. The thing the movie struck a chord for me is that sex for sex sake wasnt that gratifying after the deed.... he was empty and just sort more and more until it fucked up his life. So I am questioning whether sexual gratification is long lasting without a connection and how long that lasts for peoples happiness?
