BYRON BAY POLICE : Warning about Gray's Lane, Tyagarah!

Be warned! Do not go to Gray's Lane in Byron Bay! Today I personally saw two males being Fined $500 each by NSW Police officers in uniform, hiding in the bushes waiting for them to strip off and jump in the Tea Tree lake. Luckily I kept my boardies on or I too would be Fined and told to leave. The cops then got in their van and then drove up to the beach. They walked through the bushes on the south side, looking to fine more nudes. They then got back in the paddywagon and drove up and down the beach, looking for anybody nude who was not in the 800-metre Nudes-Allowed area! There was only one Couple at the beach today, who were true nudists and did not play. The Police raids, which now happen every day, have absolutely killed the area. Where do Couples go now to play? Kings beach???

This is what happens when people do the wrong thing, they fuck it for everybody. It mainly stemmed from the guys up in the dunes and the lake harrassing others, we have seen the police doing rounds of the area near the lake a few times we went to the beach. Don't think the lake has ever been classed as clothing optional, so anyone naked there ran the risk of copping a fine. We are not innocent, having played a little on the beach, it was a fair way up North and hidden in a sun shelter, but we did it, so we have also done the wrong thing. We went a couple of weeks ago and met another couple, nothing more than to lay in the sun and chat. They left and within a minute old matey appears out of nowhere asking if we mind if he sets his towel up about a metre away. From what we have heard, this is the type of thing that has made people complain to council about and therefore caused the 800m nude section to be instated. Shame really, but we will still enjoy the new section.

That's great news that the Police are fining people. There are places to be nude, and people need to stick to those areas. And as for fucking, well have some respect for other people who might be around. It's school holidays, there could be kids nearby. - Posted from rhpmobile

It is the lewd sexual behaviour, at nude beaches, that results in people being fined and ultimately the beach being closed down. People just do not learn and the meerkats spoil it for everyone. - Posted from rhpmobile

Sounds like you are part of the problem, most people go to the beach to be nude and enjoy the sun and surf, not to 'fuck'.as others have stated it is this kind of behaviour that gets us all tarred with the same brush and beaches shut down. Very pleased the cops are doing their job.
