I flicked on to the show.... at just the wrong moment... to see a large man, very dark skinned man dancing on webcam in a pink mankini. Instant channel change.

Mankini man was a bit different, to each their own. Was mostly worth checking out for some of the opinions.

About the use/misuse etc of porn in Australia. Gay, straight, couples, religious, addict, counsellor viewpoints. Should be repeated on ABC2 at some point but is definitely on ABC iView.

I thought it was interesting. Definitely a bit feisty between the woman against pornography and nearly everyone else. Appears pornography is good if done for the right reasons, and have to be careful about getting addicted. And yes, caught the mankini, would have been hilarious if it wasn't so......can't think of the word right now !

hey OP i found this interesting as it raised a few points i had been wondering myself ie: - i agree porn has it's place and like anything can be misused. - because porn is so easily accessible for teenagers via the internet and all our tech devices, young ppl are feeling pressured to know and perform these acts. personally i think better support programs for ppl experincing these issues could work. better sex education classes, explaining to young ppl that porn is an exaggeration of sex, these ppl are paid actors so of course they are up for anything and are happy about it. and for tech savvy children, putting restrictions on internet searches needs to become more fine tuned to block random porn ads from appearing on their devices. can't risk a 5yo being psychologically damaged from pop-ups. - Posted from rhpmobile

I reckon home made bomb recipes are a bigger risk, every year kids blow them selves up, I haven't heard of anyone masturbating to death, yet.

Porn is good in the right quantities and types. It can be a problem to some and not to others. Some people can be addicted in a clinical sense. There are ethical and non-ethical arguments. In the end, any shows like these represent a clash of opinions, with the only take-away message to simply think for yourself, come to your own view based on established facts, and take any advice for or against with a grain of salt.

I agree with all of your views .the tv program was good with all open minded people accepting the views of others exceptone narrow minded rude woman that spoke over the top of everyone else. it seems like she has had a very unhappy sex life herself and cant bare the thought of anyone enjoying it.

That was pretty much the main point that Melinda Tankard Reist continually talked over. It is there, it can be a problem. Don't bury your head in the sand and spout stats, find practical solutions. Maybe not something schools would embrace, but something extra curricular (no pun intended) could be helpful. Do agree that it got a bit out of hand Summer, but clearly not something normally in Tom Tilley's wheelhouse and I don't think he realised how stubborn and downright disrespectful Melinda was going to be. She had her own agenda for the night.

but Quoting 'countrytouch' Porn is good in the right quantities and types. It can be a problem to some and not to others. Some people can be addicted in a clinical sense. There are ethical and non-ethical arguments. In the end, any shows like these represent a clash of opinions, with the only take-away message to simply think for yourself, come to your own view based on established facts, and take any advice for or against with a grain of salt. there is no such warning on porn... and when there are young people whose only source of sex education is porn (that is entertainment and as such is not a reflection of reality) then those young people could be given a disorted view of what sex is and what is not...how to have "good sex" etc. I recall a documentary on this topic a couple of weeks ago when a Dutch Sex Ed teacher (a lady) went to a school in the UK and had discussions with young adult men and women about sex and porn...it was shocking to her that the guys were saying that "if she does not swalliow then she is not worthy of having sex with me etc..as they always swallow in porn" etc etc..the link between their ideas of sex and what they have seen in porn was clear...that is the danger of porn The lack of valid sex education (no I am not talking about sex ed about condoms) but the sex ed of pleasure and fun means that young people have no other avenues but rely on porn to o learn techniques - but when that is not realistic then the message learned is wrong and harmful. There should be more of good porn materials - that portray the sex act in is real form - not in a disorted form that litters the internet.

As far as the porn goes it's simply another base that I have to cover as a parent and really it's just another facet of sex education, not the education system or the governments responsibility, mine. I heard a brief snippet on JJJ whilst driving that was about educating young people about good sex and enjoying sex and not feeling guilty or dirty about sex, now that is a far better approach than demonising porn. I'm far more concerned about alcohol and the new taxation by stealth of gambling.

Recently had the porn chat with the eldest son (the ex would be adamant that all porn is evil) but basically talked about porn having its place but it's not a real portrail of sex in the way a Hollywood action blockbuster Is not an accurate portrail of real life where the lead character dodges 5000 bullets. I believe personally we need to teach children how to be critical of what they are watching in same way we do with violent or scary movies so they can make informed decisions. While not discussed in that language with children obviously, some people like anal some don't, some like being tied up, gagging, threesomes, gabgbangs and the list goes on and for a lot of people a lot of what is depicted on mainstream poem isn't on the sex menu and leads into a conversation about informed consent. Absence education does not work same way as sticking your head in the sand doesn't work and defaults to kids getting sex education from porn and thinking there is no problem with their approach. Definitely have a difference of opinion to my ex on the subject who would think all porn is evil ..... No porn has its place just like action movies have its place, we just need to know the difference between real life and fiction. Cheers, W. - Posted from rhpmobile
