Now for the piece de resistance, I have clicked on some of the cam icons against some men (just men for me) so I can see the face of whom I am talking to (honest, just face) and am still taken aback when I see a man busily 'sharpening his tool of mass destruction'. lol. I feel I have intruded into a private room, akin to walking to a toilet cubicle when one does their business... Not sure whether this is right.,
But then I think that these 'lovely' men (and women) would not put up a show on cam in the chat room if they are the shy shrinking violet they are. Some men really polish up with gusto, a big Cheshire cat smile on their face, teasing away on the cam,. Just really getting off, so to speak, with people watching.

I am not much of an exhibitionist these days but have been in the past in many varied ways. If I think about how I was back then, I was quite bold and did not really give a damn how people perceived me. I knew who I was and loved me for me. Still do but in a different way. So not really sure if that exhibitionist will show himself again. Mind you I do think some would say with my quirky ways at times that I still am. On your cam question as with chatting online, sometimes it feels as if you could be anything as even though you may have many watching or listening it still feels like you are completely by yourself. Just my opinion though and I am sure those true exhibitionists may well see it differently.

Don't know whether my gender has anything to do with it. I am both chatty with men and women and couples. They men are also chatty with each other. Seen some very welcoming to the other new males in thw chat room. The key I suppose is to walk into the room with a friendly demeanor. I don't mind exhibiting, but only if someone wants to watch. Scrolling through the cams in chatrooms seeing a close-up of nether regions with nothing else / no context isn't that enticing to me, but you have to realise you may not have been there at the start where the counterpart(s) they were chatting to in the room 15-20mins ago was mentioning how much they loved their smile, those little flirting looks/chats you were exchanging, that little black dress they were wearing and how they were imagining peeling it off them whilst kissing softly down their neck from behind. So I like camming, but to me there's got be a little something mutual going back and forth somewhere. Otherwise it's just a little bit 'tree falling in the woods' scenario...
That said though, the cam rooms are very dual purpose. You can easily just get on cam where people can be in their own home/relaxed environment to chat to you, get to know you a bit better, have a laugh, get a feel for who you are without having to worry about all the necessities of a meet in person, and no pressure of anything. I know some people are shy, fair enough, but I'd personally rather always be on cam to chat, after all, isn't a lot of communication non-verbal? (also take with a grain of salt as chattee maybe also responding to other messages at the same time <insert cam concentration typing face>).
So my basic approach is to always start in the cam room clothed with my happy face on ready to chat with no expectations - after all I generally believe that's what most people like when they first meet someone (although enter your own kink fantasy there...;)). And then of course there's my own odd occasional exception to the rule where I just decide to take a shower on cam...
I love watching too - I wonder if all people who don't mind exhibiting, love watching just as much equally? As to how it compares with a live audience, don't know but would love to compare notes sometime...
Oh and to answer your question about how I get the courage? Haven't checked out the cam thing as it isn't really my thing plenty of cam sites out there though if I were. I would however try the one on one with someone I had connection with. Several years back I had a bit of a long distance thing and if the lass had not been so shy and innocent would have liked that very much. The few times I have been on chat though, the amount of comments I saw and recommendations to guys to get over and have a look at what was on cam kind of reminded me of high school antics. Perhaps I just chose the wrong days and times to check in.

People with their cams on WANT to be watched! They have the choice to select who can view their cam(an invitation will be sent), or it will be open for all to see. If you do get to watch their cam, I think its respectful to say hi or give a compliment, but it bugs me personally when guys ask them or me to do "tricks". Others love the encouragement! Each to their own, it's always fun!

There's a setting that broadcasters in the chatrooms can set so that if someone clicks on their cam they have to 'approve' the viewer before it allows them to see it. This is the first chatroom where I've seen that. So with that in mind, and it's an open chatroom, if the broadcaster has their cam open, I say viewing is fair game. If they don't want you watching, they can simply block you from viewing with a mouse click. But I wouldn't think it disrespectful to click without asking - once again it's an open chatroom, if broadcasters only want to be viewed by select people, they should either just use the 'private chat' feature that takes them to a separate 'room' or use the grant permission's function. So click away I say :)

There's always Skype for higher quality, and as for forking out, there's a couple of other free sites that have quite reasonable quality that I know of - just that most of those viewers/broadcasters are all over the world, they're also public sites where ANYONE could be watching, and unlike on this site, if you're into them there's no chance of meeting up with them. But if none of that bothers you, I say go try it out.
