Aarows

March 01 2011

Just reading through my daily fix of news this morning on the internet when I stumbled across an article about Aarows. Apparently Parramatta Council is set to close the venue as apparently they were unaware it oeprated as a "sex club". In its original application it opened as a social club offerring self defence classes, a gym and a safe place for men to hang out. Interestingly most of the comments received about the story were extremely positive - indicating so long as adults were consenting and no one was getting hurt what was the problem. The matter is now before the courts.

They have to be kidding themselves. What a crock of shit. How do they explain away the fact that they made inspections for certificate of occupancy? I mean, private cubicles, a suckatorium and rooms with cages, condom and lube dispensors on every wall in can hardly be anything else. .. And it's been open for like.... a hundred years. HugsS

From the news reports the Council's complaint seems to be that they consider that the premises is being used as a restricted premises, or a brothel, rather than as a "social club". The application for development consent advised council that men would go there to meet socially, that the clientelle would predominantly be homosexual men and that whilst management does not encourage sex, some sex is likely to occur between patrons. The problem for Council is that the premises is not a brothel as nobody pays anybody for sex... they're all giving it away for free damn it!!!.... and that it doesn't seem to be a restricted premises under the NSW restricted Premises Act. Really, I think Councillors all need to get laid as they seem a little uptight over this problem. Next, they'll be slamming close down orders on the beaches, the toilets at the RSL club, carparks, elevators, car bonnets, behind the back garden shed... anywhere that people have sex.... HugsS
