Quite enjoyed it. Awkward moment when the girl who does the live shows, Cagney? and her partner Montay (she keeps pronouncing it like this... or otherwise known as 'kept man') have a 'discussion' on camera... I wonder if they're still an item??

it was interesting to hear some views of the stars and see how the industry has changed, who was still in the industry, who had been to jail (G.W. Bush anti porn policy).yes Saskia72 it was an awkward moment, and that's what we love to see, real drama.thank god for ABC and SBS porn.cheersa

Still thinking over it, but I didn't enjoy it. Louis doesn't even attempt to step out of his monogamous (I'm not saying monogamy is wrong) and obtuse view on love, relationships, and sex. He seems like the kind of guy that will think you're in a relationship after having a one night stand. I don't know if he's being like that in a "mock-umentary" kind of way, but it didn't help.He continued to ask questions on the porn set like "Are you flirting?" and "Do you think porn scenes will lead to relationships?", all the actors can do is look at him in disbelief. I think that really shut down the conversation as the people who were open to talking about this kind of stuff (not easy to find professional sex workers/adult entertainers to talk about this kind of stuff on TV) saw that Louie wasn't willing to see their point of view or lifestyle choice. There are big problems in the porn industry, but he barely touched on those - John Doe's problems (according to his wife - who would know more about him than Louie) stemmed from hard drug use but Louie seemed to insist it was being a pornstar. John English seemed pretty ok (the other guy who got arrested and is making blockbuster spin-offs was an immature sleazebag) but Johnny's second in command (wife?) Fran was horrible - "I wouldn't let my daughter do this because I don't want a whore" - misogynistic and judgemental, and not to mention flirty with the male performer (double standards). She espoused the views a lot of people in the adult industry are trying to stop. The show catered to people with his views, and he didn't ask any questions beyond his scope. He should have asked Fran "Why are you still here if you look down on female performers?" and Cagnay's boyfriend Montaigne (?) "Why do you expect Cagney to stop doing her job that she's been doing long before she met you? You knew what she does, why get upset about it?" Sex workers have to deal with this garbage all the time, why did Louie stand for it?Anyone who watched this should check out Louis's swinger documentary. He comes off as an even bigger dork.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts as well. That's the first time I've seen a documentary by Louis Theroux, and I wasn't very impressed with him. He seemed to have already made up his mind about it all - based on his obviously rather conservative views - and he just kept leading the conversations that way and trying to get the interviewees to say something that would back up his opinion, e.g. his apparent belief that people can't have sex with each other without developing an urge to go house hunting together afterwards.

The young guy and girl about to do a 'scene' were absolutely flirting, blind freddy could see that. .. and I highly doubt alot of pornstars do this for enjoyment, like most of them said "it's a job" If there were something else that required as few brain cells and paid as much quick and easy money they wouldn't be doing it. I couldn't think of anything worse than a day spent fucking people I may not be attracted to in front of alot of people. I have always enjoyed Louis' documentaries, and I can see how you would think he is trying to present a one eyed view, but I see it more as he is trying to present the stereotypical view, or pointing out what seems to be quite obvious to all watching and challenging the 'focus participants to change his/our minds. It often weeds out the bullshitters from the true believers. His prison doco has been really good.

I don't doubt they were flirting, even Tommy was flirting with Sascha (name? The blonde woman he did a shoot with around the time Louie spoke to Marco too) in order to make things easier but people flirt all the time, whether it's a little smile at work, or dancing with someone at a club, or even on a casual dating website. It doesn't mean anything is going to happen (or expected to happen) To get into porn requires a non-traditional view of sex, intimacy, and relationships (in that you have to seperate sex from intimacy) and Louie's comments - "Wow, would you get into a relationship with him?" and "what does your boyfriend think of this?" just leads me to think while he may be presenting the "stereotypical view" he's not receptive to different views. Being a sex worker is not an easy choice, people don't just jump into it like it ain't no thing. Stefany's boyfriend knows what she does, and has accepted it, something Louie doesn't understand because people don't talk about this kind of stuff. He also couldn't understand that people could enjoy swinging and non-monagamous relationships. He doesn't have to do it,, but he should at least try to tolerate it because it's not really any of his business. Stereotypical people don't often question the messed up social views we have on sex and women, something I hoped a documentary on pornstars would do.Why didn't Louie ask Tommy what happened in previous relationships, or what happens when he meets women outside of the porn industry? Because it shows the negative side of the "stereotypical view" which is something Louie didn't want to do (and I spoke about in the previous post when he didn't hassle Fran or Montay about their negative thinking) This article below highlights the problems of being a male pornstar, and I want to quote something important from it that Louie didn't touch on because it stems from "stereotypical thinking"Jeremy Steele, star of “Naughty Neighbors” and “M.I.L.F. Money,” says the hardest thing is what happens when he’s not working. “ having a relationship with a significant other,” Steele says. “The first time I told a girl I was in porn she disconnected her phone number the same night, and I never saw or heard from her again.” Not only that, changing career tracks can be tricky, especially if you leave the adult business and try to reinvent yourself. “The second hardest thing is having a post-porn career that doesn’t make you ‘infamous’ if or when it is discovered that you were a sex worker on film/video,” Steele reports. “You can lose a job or not find one if you’re too well known for having been a whore on camera, in spite of it being legal.”What does Louie illustrate? What did putting the "stereotypical view" on camera on a porn set accomplish? The majority of people think like Louie, it's not changing the way people think, educating them, or making them see things from a different angle - what a documentary is supposed to do - pornstars cop flack from everyone: friends, family, religious organizations, etc. whether it's outright hostility (the conservative christians) to minor shaming and distancing (from "accepting" family) They are all presenting the "stereotypical view" at them, everyday, and people have a problem with it because of society's hangups on sex. Louie did nothing to help this attitude. Guys like John or Tommy probably wouldn't be comfortable telling someone they just met they work in porn (and it's definitely worse for women) when nobody should feel ashamed of being a sex worker. Unless you're a big name male pornstarr you're getting paid 30 - 40k a year and it's a time consuming shrinking market. You can get if you get into gay porn (reminds me: why didn't Louie chide the married actor flirting with Fran about his homophobic views?)I was hoping that it would show them as people, not some bizzare passive aggressive interogation. The thing about the true believers and the bullshitters in the porn industry? They're not shoving their views in society's face. Well, not entirely true, that producer did and he went to jail (the staged rape porn was disgusting) I'm not angry, but I'm bewildered Louie would think this is groundbreaking or worthy of showing people.
