A different form of frustration

It seems some of the regs have noticed my absence from the forums, hell I even received a few msgs and flirts to find out where I had disappeared to.Well ladies and gentlemen (and any other combinations), here is the why ...I started a new job at the beginning of Feb which necessitated me to travel to Canberra for induction etc and await a couple of US multi-nationals to sign a contract so I can go back to work in Newcastle. Now originally I was supposed to be down here for 3 weeks amximum, well I have just finished my fourth week down here and rebooked accommodation for another week at least (god I hate contract lawyers now lol).But here is the frustrating part! I, a dedicated computer user since before it became popular has been without a computer! I knew I was going to get a new lappie as part of my new work so I didn't bring down mine. The serviced apartment they put me in had free wireless net, I thought I was going to be without a computer for at the most a couple of days. But no, the interent gods were against me, they saw my pithy comments here and decided to punish me for admitting I was a nice guy. Turned out I had to have a secure laptop for my job, which took about three weeks to purchase and for the IT geeks to configure. I had it exactly one night before I had to move to another hotel due to extending my stay down here. So last Saturday I pack up all my gear, exit nice (but oldish) serviced apartment at 10am, drive around and bludge until I can check into this new hotel at 3pm only to find out a disturbing fact. Yes they have wireless net, (not free, $5 per day but what the hell) but it is only available in the foyer. Now visualise the image: me, sitting in the foyer perving on all the lovely ladies and reading the forums. For starters, it would mean I would have to be clothed (bummer with that idea). It just took all the damn fun out of the whole experience!For those who are use to having technology at your fingertips, just bear a thought for us poor downtrodden members of society who sometimes have to go without. Do you you realise who frustrating it can be to get notified that you have new mail at RHP but you can't fucking log on due to some stupid equity law about viewing an adult site whilst at work.Oh god I can't wait to get home lol

Nice to see you back! Oh boy, can I understand how you are feeling! I admit, I do have a love/ hate relationship with my laptop. Took my little computer buddy on a trip interstate recently and couldnt access my usual wireless connection to check emails and feed my rhp forum addiction, soooooooo thought a short burst on roaming would be ok. Just received the monthly bill, usually $35, it was $101.14 !! ooops.... my little computer buddy wont be traveling with me again. intrigued & curious also a techno dinasaur.

Should get one of the wireless modems that come as a memory stick. Just buy time for it when you need it while away. That's what I do for when I am on holidays, sure it costs a bit but is better than going without.

I leave the forums for 3 hours to pick up kids, do the shopping and all the other family stuff....and dementia sets in! No really, seriously.....I spent a lot of time writing some posts this morning, damned if I can find them ;P Oh well, point made, point taken. Hey, great to see you again Mooka! Jx

Aww gals and guys, thanks for all the nice words, I honestly thought no one would miss my lack of forum posts lolIntrigued: I feel your pain, I did that when I had to visit Ipswich a couple of years ago, the serviced apartments I staying in had the net but after 3 nights had run up a bill in excess of $200. Luckily they decided to cut it in half and the company picked up the tab anyway. Taught me a lesson it did, no camming when you are away lolNeV: What, Eunch is missing. Hell I missed Whitehawks farewell (I think) but I hope Eunch comes back soon, we need is voice of reason!Trish, oh Trish: What can I say, you just make me smile. As for catching you, oh trust me I would catch you, just might be interesting why a have my hands place to catch you of course lolLovenlust: I actually thought of doing that but the new company isn't exactly shy in making sure I am well looked after IT wise. Just my bad luck to have to change hotels and pick one without free wifi (damn strange for a 4 1/2 star). And trust me I can't wait to get back to the Bay, Canberra is pleasant but I want to get back to my little bit of paradise lolEarl: whoa mate, I ain't leaving and trust me (well as much as anyone can on the net lol), although I am a member here I am very careful on exactly what I post and as far as I am aware it is still legal to be a member of this site. Nice to see your smiling face once more... I know how hard it is to go without a computer - having been around them now for over 30 years, they do grow on you.... Anyway - have fun scaring the crap outta the fellow bar patrons... :-) Wayne
