A QUESTION ABOUT UNI STUDENT/RESEARCH WARNINGS ON PROFILES...

January 02 2011

I'm curious if anyone has actually discovered they have been the subject of this university or is it market "research"? (lots of psych's and some psychos work in marketing and research) Or if you have suspected someone that was writing to you or you met via rhp of being one of these "researchers". I wonder if they have been kicked off the site when discovered or what you did to someone that, not only used you as their research subject without their permission-potentially wrote down a report about their encounter/s with you. I'd be very interested to hear from one of these "researchers" (the ones rhp members are paranoid about ie they have warnings about them in their profiles) it's not like you don't already have a fake profile...so it really wouldn't be a stretch for you to sign up as a guest member and tell us the truth. If you are "honest" in your research findings why not be "honest" with your research subjects. Come on people you share everything else on here....

But, being a uni student myself, and having previously conducted surveys for assignments, I wonder if they would be allowed to use it in their research for whatever they are doing. With the uni I go to any research/surveying has to be approved by an ethics committee and you have to get approval and let them know what you are using it for etc. I guess different unis could have different requirements?

No doubt you will get the odd simple minded undergraduate student who thinks that they have a great idea for a 2000 word essay. they'll sign in and think they're being really clever by sneaking around pretending to be someone they're not and gathering "real life reasearch" on whether women really squirt .. or whatever. Then it only takes one person on RHP to put up some nonsensical legalese in the form of a rights statement at the end of their profile for numerous gullible others to follow suit... and as if it would make any difference what so ever. Hell even if such patents pending had legal balls and could be enforced, the cost of the litigation and the adverse publicity from it would be enough to make your cock wilt. It's pathetic I say! Meanwhile, a moments reflection will reveal that the real research at any doctorate level is more likely to be performed in sex clinic situations where real players attend regularly and where ongoing statistics are gathered for analysis at a statewide and national level. More reliable research is capable of being procured from real individuals attending an examination in person rather than by sneaking around a site like this where faked up profiles by some kid living in the depths of his mother's basement, laced with dutch courage and devised to attract attention prevail. If you are a uni student logging reading this and you are on here to do "real life research" for your 2000 word essay, man you sure are a dumb arse. Go to a library and do some proper research dopey.HUgsStalky

Quoting 'indiglo'But, being a uni student myself, and having previously conducted surveys for assignments, I wonder if they would be allowed to use it in their research for whatever they are doing. With the uni I go to any research/surveying has to be approved by an ethics committee and you have to get approval and let them know what you are using it for etc. I guess different unis could have different requirements? Human Research ethics are pretty standard throughout Australia. I used to be on a research ethics committee and that is what I learned. Because some research is done collaboratively across a number of universities the approval process has to be standardised. There was someone on here in the past who outed herself as a research student and asked people to contact her if they wished to be involved in the research. She got sufficient takers. I am sure there are researchers doing work on the impact of social websites on our dating, and maybe even sexual behaviour, but they can only make generalised assumptions and determine trends, they can't give specific information about anyone without their consent. That would be considered unethical research conduct. My thoughts are "relax, contribute to our understanding of our evolving social and sexual world." And yes, anyone doing research can contact me for further comments. Cheers WTG

I'd have thought that RHP would be fertile ground for statistical analysis as much as anything else. If so, there may well be people gathering information, but I doubt if they care about our user names. I'd expect they were looking at things like response rates for certain profiles, etc. I could be wrong though...
