This year Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the LGBTQI+ community will look as colourful, diverse and formidable as always.

It's great to see that  people have become more inquisitive and inclusive of the LGBTIQ+ community. People are interested in learning more, which will lead to inclusivity, acceptance and more understanding of the complex human sexuality.

This year's theme is WHAT MATTERS! to acknowledge how far the LGBTQI+ community has come.

It’s also worth noting the ‘alphabet soup’ which began as lesbian/gay has widened over the years. Now, it's LGBTQI+ - broadening the people represented in the rainbow community and the ‘+’ indicating that will continue to evolve.

With the broadening out of sexual orientation, and the upcoming generation far less hung up, less and less people remain closeted.

Mardi Gras celebrates diversity and inclusion and isheds light to the surprising diversity of human sexuality. It provides visibility and paves the way to inclusivity as a foundation for improving relationships, workplace environment and societal acceptance and understanding of human complex sexuality.

But all up, Mardi Gras is here, let us celebrate our RHP members in the rainbow family with respect and without judgement.

Check out our events page to see what is happening this long weekend.

Happy Mardi Gras everyone.
