Shooter, released in Australia on April 19th tells the story of marksman Bob Lee Swagger played by Mark Wahlberg.  Living in exile the buff commando is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Things take a turn for the worst when the jaded marksman is double-crossed and framed for the assassination attempt which ultimately killed an archbishop.  On a mission to uncover the truth he goes on the run from the law and sets out to track the real killer and find out why he was set up. 

This movie will cater to the girls who want a perve on Marky Mark and guys who want to see a full on action piece full of corny lines and slow motion walking as something explodes in the background.  Guys can also catch a look at the sexy females in the film such as Rhona Mitra and relative newcomer Kate Mara.  Danny Glover also stars as the antagonist but really it’s hard to see him as a bad dude after watching him in the Lethal Weapon movies.  Shooter is a consummate popcorn flick full of action packed fun and a surprisingly ok storyline for its genre. It is definitely a first date movie.  I give Shooter 2.5 out of 5.
